Chapter 103 Make Sure Jonah Stays Far Away from This Deal
“That’s enough!”
A tight, suffocating sensation gripped Milo’s chest, making it hard for him to breathe.
Despite having no personal stake in these matters, his emotions swirled uncontrollably.
He snapped the box shut, shoving it roughly into Charmaine’s hands.
His words came out thick with suppressed emotion, “Now you have what’s yours again.”

Charmaine placed each item back into the box with quiet precision, but suddenly, she let out a small laugh.
When she looked up, her gaze was sharp and cold, a glint of something deeper hidden in her clear eyes.
“You think giving these things back means they’re back to their owners?” Her voice was icy, “From the moment Leah took everything I held dear, it was never about returning what’s mine. And what about the life she stole from me? How do you return that?”
Milo’s hands clenched into fists, his jaw tight. “I’ll get to the bottom of this. Don’t worry. I’ll make sure everything is resolved.”
She scoffed, her voice distant, “No need. The past doesn’t matter anymore. I’m only concerned with what’s to come.”
Her gaze lingered on Milo, noting the uncertainty in his eyes. “You brought me these things. Leah doesn’t know, does she?”
“She hasn’t come back yet,” Milo replied, his voice tight.
“So, when she does, she’s going to be furious,” Charmaine said cryptically.
Milo couldn’t quite grasp the meaning, but Charmaine understood exactly what she was hinting at.
These items weren’t just sentimental relics; they were symbols of something far greater. They were pieces of her luck and fortune. Without them, Leah’s fortune would begin to unravel.
Realizing this, Charmaine softened her tone just a fraction. “I’m not asking for a favor, but let’s call this a trade. Consider it as if I bought them from you.”
Milo instinctively objected. “No need-”
Charmaine cut him off, her voice steady, “Leah helped Bennett secure that deal with the Nelsons for the South City development, didn’t she?”
Milo’s eyes widened in shock. “That’s insider information! How do you-”
“Of course I know,” she said calmly, not bothered by his surprise.
When Charmaine was bedridden in her past life, she had overheard things.
Bennett had his sights set on this project, but his capabilities were too limited to manage it alone. He was forced to rely on the Nelsons to take the lead, hoping to take a cut of the rewards along the way.

betrayal within his own ranks. A traitor in his company passed the project’s bid information to their rivals, which led to their bid falling through.
Thanks to the Nelsons‘ support, Bennett didn’t suffer much of a loss. But the Nelsons were forced to cancel several lucrative deals they had already set aside in favor of this project.
In a previous turn of events, Jonah had to rush overseas to try and salvage the lost business. Now, however, the Nelsons had already embarrassed themselves, losing multiple deals, and they were barely managing to keep things afloat. If they went all–in on this project, things could spiral out of control.
The damage could be far worse.
Charmaine’s brows knitted together, her face hardening. In a quiet but firm tone, she said to Milo, “How I know this doesn’t matter, but make sure Jonah stays far away from this deal.”
Milo’s face turned serious. “Jonah mentioned it the other day. He’s already preparing a proposal to recover the losses. He won’t back down easily.”
Charmaine nodded slowly. “I thought as much. Willard and Jonah have both invested too much.”
She shot him a pointed look. “In any case, consider this my way of returning the favor. This project won’t succeed. If it gets involved, it’s all going to fall apart. I’ve said my piece. Whether you believe it or not, or whether Jonah would listen, it’s up to you.”
Her words were a warning, but the kindness was limited.
The Nelsons‘ losses were no concern of hers.
“Alright, you should leave now. There’s nothing more to discuss.”
With that, Charmaine turned to walk away.
Milo, still turning her words over in his mind, called out after her, “Wait, I-”
Just as he reached for her arm, a blinding flash of light suddenly enveloped them, forcing both of them to raise their hands to shield their eyes.
A sleek Maybach rolled to a slow stop in front of them, the headlights cutting through the night like a spotlight.
The door opened, and out came a wheelchair. Emyr, his gaze frosty and unreadable, surveyed them with cold, narrowed eyes.
“What are you two doing?”
His voice sliced through the air, sharp and commanding, catching Charmaine off guard.
She quickly pulled away from Milo, an unfamiliar wave of unease washing over her.
Why do I feel like I’ve just been caught in the middle of cheating?
Gosh, what am I thinking…
She shook her head and quickly walked toward Emyr. “Mr. Emyr, what are you doing back here?”
Emyr gave her a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “What’s wrong? Is it a problem if I come home?”
