A few days later, two days before Arthur’s official assumption of his new role, the Jarrett residence was adorned with decorations and blossoms, a rare sight in recent times.
Though the place was well decorated, the guests were mostly just neighbors and friends.
But that was more than enough. Simplicity is beauty.
After talking it over with Claire, they decided to have a small family wedding at the Jarrett residence. It was Arthur and Claire’s special day.
Right now, Mary and Jean were busy outside the residence, their faces full of joy.
“Come on, Hank–no, wait, I mean Hank Jarrett. Old habits die hard,” said Mary.
“You’re tall enough to reach. Help me hang these string lights up there, to make it more twinkling. And hang a few here too?
“Little brother, come help me when you’re done. I have some ribbons here that I can’t reach either,” said Jean.
“Okay, I’ll be there, no rush. Call me whatever you like–I’m game for anything,” Hank replied.
Hank, being tall, had been the errand boy for Mary and Jean all day, fetching and reaching for things since he woke up.
But it was a good day, a good day for his biological parents. After all these years, he never thought they would hit it off so well.
Today, aside from his biological father, he was the happiest person there, always eager to lend a hand.
In the dressing room, Claire was sitting in front of the vanity mirror as the makeup artist worked on her makeup.
Standing beside her were her biological daughter Cherise, and Xenia, who was the wedding planner for the day.
The makeup artist was already doing the final styling of her hair. Reflected in the mirror was a gentle, graceful, and extremely beautiful face.
The makeup artist, who had also worked on Cherise’s wedding, said, “Ms. Garcia, you are so elegant and beautiful. You don’t look like you’re going to be a grandmother at all.
“When I was doing Mrs. Chivers‘ makeup last time, I was wondering who could have given birth to such an extraordinary beauty. Today, my wish has finally come true, and I have met Mrs. Chivers‘ mother.

Everyone loved compliments, but Claire thought she should be modest. “Not at all. I’m getting old. In a couple of years, I’ll be over the hill.”
Xenia, who was standing next to her, wouldn’t stand for it. “Claire, come on! With your figure and your open–minded attitude, you’ll be a charming and elegant lady when you’re old.”
“That’s right,” the makeup artist, who often worked with the rich and powerful, chimed in in agreement.
Cherise didn’t say anything. She stood quietly by her mother’s side, watching the makeup artist at work.
It was amazing. If this had been a year ago, she wouldn’t have even dreamed of this scene.
Now, she was actually able to stand here with her baby in her belly, watching her mother put on makeup, and was going to attend her wedding later.

Xenia reached out and patted her gently. “Right, Cherise? Look at your mother. She’s so beautiful.”
Cherise nodded, her face beaming with a smile. “Yes, my mother is naturally the most beautiful.”
Just then, Claire’s styling was done. The makeup artist packed up her things and went out
Now, only Cherise, Claire, and Xenia were left in the dressing room.
Claire stood up and checked herself in the mirror. Despite the satisfied smile on her lips, she said. “Thank goodness it’s just a family wedding. For my second marriage, I’d be too shy if there were too many people.”
Xenia crossed her arms and said, “Claire, why do you keep bringing up your second marriage? What about your attitude? So what if it’s a second marriage? Some second marriages are happier than first marriages.”
Cherise nodded. “Yes, Xenia is right. I support Xenia this time. Today is a very special day in your life, Mom. Be confident”
When Claire heard this, she turned serious for a moment, then smiled brightly. “Of course, my dear daughter. I’ve already adjusted my mindset.
“I was just kidding. I’m so beautiful. So what if it’s a second marriage?
“Even with a second marriage, I’m still the happiest and most beautiful bride in the world. Let’s go find my child’s father and get married.”
With that, she gracefully lifted the hem of her dress and walked out of the dressing room.
Cherise and Xenia, who were watching her from behind, exchanged an incredulous look and laughed happily.

Champagne, delicious food, and familiar guests.

Just as happy were Arthur’s parents, both smiling.
After all these years of waiting, they not only had a grandson but also a daughter–in–law.
As the time neared, the courtyard was filled with beautiful, romantic music. Everyone looked towards the door from where the beautiful bride would appear. Morris, Truman, Crow, and Leo sat at the same table, their gazes also fixed on that spot. Some were waiting for the bride to appear, while others were waiting for their wives. Soon, someone shouted, “The bride is here, Claire is here, look, how beautiful!”

Leo laughed heartily. “That’s it. Look at Mr. Jarrett, his expression is even more shocked than ours.”
Claire’s entrance really lifted the mood. Everyone knew each other, so there was no need for formalities. Laughter filled the air.
Arthur stood on the stage, watching her walk towards him. Unwilling to just stand there, he strode towards Claire, his face filled with love and joy.
The two held hands in the middle of the flower–lined path.
