After watching Claire enter the house, Cherise glanced sharply around the villa and said, “The people ambushing nearby are all Mr. Jarrett’s men, right? There are more than yesterday.”
Hugh nodded and replied, “Yes, Mrs. Chivers. Mr. Jarrett increased security after Ms. Garcia was stopped by Tristan in the parking lot last night.”
Hearing this, Cherise was relieved. “Okay, let’s go home then.“.
Coincidentally, as they arrived back at Chivers Residence, Morris also got home. No matter how tired he was from the day, his smile would always widen at the sight of Cherise.
Cherise smiled brightly when she saw him, but today’s smile was different from usual; it was a mixture of amusement and awkwardness.
Hugh, who had parked the car, walked over and saw Morris. He laughed. “Mr. Chivers, you actually wore the clothes Ms. Garcia bought!
“They’re so pink, and they suit you quite well!
“Nice! I bet Leo and the others that you wouldn’t wear them, but you actually did! You look like a trendy young man. People who don’t know you would think you stole Mrs. Chivers‘ clothes!”
Morris glanced at him and walked up to Cherise. “Cherise, you’re back. What a coincidence, we both got home at the same time. Well, your mother bought these clothes for me. I didn’t want to let her down, so… What do you think? Not bad, right?”
After a long refusal from Morris at the Dark Web Division with Leo, Leo said, “He who wins the mother–in–law wins the world.”
Come to think of it, Claire was Cherise’s mother, his mother–in–law. That relationship held some weight. In the end, he wore clothes.
Not only that, but he also asked Leo to take a picture of him wearing it and send it to Claire.
Wearing these clothes, she stood in front of Cherise and asked, “Cherise, how is it?”
Cherise shook her head. She understood Morris’s intention. “The clothes are a little funny. They don’t really suit you. I still prefer my Mr. Chivers to wear clothes that suit him.”
“Okay.” Morris understood what Cherise meant and responded with more joy than anyone could imagine. He took her hand and said, “Let’s go inside. I have a surprise for you.”
Cherise knew she would see it in a moment, but she still asked expectantly, “What’s it?”
“I’ll keep you in suspense. I can’t tell you now, but you’ll find out soon.” Morris said as he carefully helped Cherise put down her bag and led her upstairs.
When he reached the door of the room next to the master bedroom, he stopped. “The surprise is inside, Cherise, open the door yourself.”
Cherise smiled at him. “Okay.” She reached for the doorknob, turned it gently, and pushed the door open.
“Oh my god! Mr. Chivers, when did this happen? Why was it so quiet? I didn’t know anything about it.” Cherise was clearly pleasantly surprised by the scene in the room.
Morris saw Cherise’s surprise and smiled. “I decorated this room with eco–friendly materials right after you left this morning. It’s safe for pregnant women. Let’s go inside and check it out.” He led her in.

This was the nursery Morris had designed for their baby. The main light in the room was turned on, revealing a space full of warmth and childlike wonder.
The room had a cartoon–shaped crib with cozy bedding, a bookshelf, slide, rocking horse, starry ceiling, changing table, milk station, small bed, toys, bottles, feeding cups–everything a baby needs.
It was clear that Morris had put a lot of thought and care into preparing for the baby and Cherise.
Cherise walked in and gently caressed each of the small items Morris had carefully prepared.
Staring at the cute wooden rocking horse standing on the floor, she felt a mixture of girlishness and the joy of impending motherhood on her face.
“We don’t know the baby’s gender yet, so I used a lot of warm yellow. It’s neutral, so the baby won’t feel left out if we guessed wrong.” Morris explained, coming up beside her.
Cherise nodded. Morris’s thoughts were exactly the same as hers. She sidled up to him and looped her arm through his. “Thank you, Mr. Chivers. I love it, and so will the baby.”
She patted her slightly rounded belly. “Right, baby? Do you like the little room Daddy prepared for you? Daddy, the baby likes it too.”
There was a playful lilt in Cherise’s voice that went straight to Morris’s heart. The smile on his lips widened.
All the negative emotions he had harbored about his mother, who had died giving birth to him, gradually faded away at that moment. “Cherise, as long as you like it, the baby doesn’t matter.”
Tristan’s office.
The atmosphere in the office was strange, though it was difficult to pinpoint exactly why.
This strange atmosphere lingered for quite a while, from nine o’clock in the morning when they arrived at work, until now, ten o’clock in the evening.
He sat in his office chair, facing his assistant and several other staff members in black suits.
Among them was the one who had delivered the chocolates to Claire at Prosperous City.
No one dared to speak, unsure of what to say.
After a long silence, his assistant took a deep breath and tentatively said, “Mr. Walton, it’s ten o’clock. You have work tomorrow. Would you like to go back and rest?”
Tristan ran a hand through his short hair, seemingly irritated. He looked up at the people in front of him with a fierce gaze. “Do you think I can rest now?”
His assistant, a perceptive person, did not dare to provoke him any further. He stood silently by the side.
After a moment of silence, Tristan slammed his hand on the table. “You’re good, Claire. To think that I, Tristan, would fall for a woman in this lifetime! Very good! The ancients were right: beautiful women spell trouble!”
