Carson said, “Come on, Cherise, let’s have a cup of coffee first and let your mother relax. This coffee is not strong and is suitable for pregnant women. Don’t worry.”
Cherise replied, “Okay.”
Carson and Cherise, completely unaffected by Claire on the side, enjoyed themselves.
A full hour later, Claire finally emerged from her deep sadness.

Fortunately, as soon as she came out, she returned to her previous appearance, making people completely forget that she was crying just minutes ago.
Wiping the tears from her face with a tissue, she began to look at Carson with amusement. “I’m sorry, Carson. I made a fool of myself when we first met. I couldn’t control my emotions for a while.”
Carson waved his hand. “It’s alright. We’re all family here. It doesn’t matter.
“I went back to Larkston a few days ago and only saw you now. How are you? How’s your recovery? Are you used to life
here?”
Claire’s face was full of smiles. “I’m getting used to it. I’m very adaptable and can live well anywhere.
“Besides, my children are all in Betrico, which is more to my liking. It’s great. It’s just that life is a bit idle, and I’m thinking I should find something to do.”
Carson nodded. “That’s the best. You won’t be idle for long. After a while, you’ll be a grandmother, and then you’ll be busy.”
That was true, and the three of them laughed.
Just then, Eugene pushed the door open. “Carson, Mr. Jarrett is here. He should be coming ashore soon.”
“Oh, Arthur’s arrival is timely. Everyone is here. How lively! Everyone, stay for lunch. Let’s have some delicious home- cooked dishes.” Carson said with a smile.
Cherise’s first reaction was to glance at Claire beside her and gently raise the corners of her lips when Claire wasn’t paying
attention.
Claire, on the other hand, had the biggest reaction of all. Her nerves instantly tensed up.
With a look of disdain, a million unwilling thoughts ran through her mind. She thought, ‘Why is he everywhere? Isn’t he the ruler? Shouldn’t he be occupied with state affairs? Why is it so easy to meet him?
‘How can he be so free, so timely, so coincidental, choosing the exact day we are here? It’s truly enough.’
As she was thinking this, Arthur entered the room with his assistant, Mateo.
Seeing the arrivals, Cherise politely stood up and nodded in greeting. “Mr. Jarrett.”
Arthur always gave people a gentle and refreshing feeling, and today was no exception. He first greeted Carson, “Good to see you, Carson. Apologies for the interruption.”
Then, turning to Cherise, he said, “Cherise, you are expecting. There’s no need for these formalities in front of me. We are all family.”
Cherise wasn’t one to stand on ceremony, so she simply replied, “Okay.”

After speaking to Cherise, his gaze fell on Claire, who was standing to the side. Seeing her, he frowned slightly. “Claire, have you been crying?”
His tone was natural and familiar, as if they had known each other for many years.
Hearing this, Claire coughed lightly twice. “Mr. Jarrett, how do you have such free time? Shouldn’t you be attending the morning court session?”
Arthur laughed when he heard this. “Claire, you’re so funny. I’m not an emperor from ancient times. There’s no such thing as a morning court session.”
“More or less.” Arthur finished, and Claire lowered her voice and said.
Carson and Cherise exchanged another glance, their smiles widening. Only they knew what they were smiling about.
They both were observant. After they finished laughing, Carson was the first to speak, “Cherise, can you push me to my study? I have something important to tell you.
“Mateo, everyone stays for lunch. There might be a lot of food, so please go help Eugene. Arthur, you’re already very familiar with this place. This is Claire’s first time here, so please keep her company.”
“Certainly.” Arthur replied quickly.
Claire looked at them one by one with a puzzled expression as they walked out. She got up and said, “Hey, wait, you guys… Mateo, why don’t I go help you out?” She was about to get up and follow Mateo.
Mateo walked away so fast, as if he were fleeing. Before Claire could get out of the café, a sturdy wall of flesh blocked her way. “Are you and Mateo already so close?”
Claire looked at Arthur blocking her way. “Mr. Jarrett, are you not letting me go help?”
“Yes.” Arthur replied with certainty. “Of course. I can’t disobey Carson. He asked me to keep you company.”
Claire lowered her head, not looking directly at him. “Thank you very much. Not just for this time, but also for helping me block the fake public opinion created by the Walton family. Thank you for everything.”
After Claire’s words, Arthur continued, “Claire, let’s sit down and talk. I think we need to talk.”
“Talk about what?” Hearing this, Claire looked up at Arthur.
“Have a seat first. Don’t stand.”
Claire didn’t know what he wanted to talk about, but his tone of voice made her feel very comfortable, not at all aggressive. She agreed and sat back in her original seat.
It may have been because she had cried before Arthur arrived, but Claire at that moment gave off a very different feeling. She was not as lively as usual, but had a touch of gentleness and tranquility.
“So, you really did cry just now.” Arthur asked the same question he had asked when he came in.
Claire reached out and touched her face. “Is it that obvious?”
Arthur denied it, “No, but I can tell.”
Claire gasped. She thought, ‘How am I supposed to respond to that?‘
After a moment of thought, she shifted the conversation. “Tell me what you want to talk about. Let’s be quick, otherwise everyone will be waiting for us to eat.”

Arthur laughed. “It’s nothing serious. Well, here it goes.”
He looked at Claire seriously and said resolutely, “I’d like you to seriously consider our relationship.”
“What?” Claire exclaimed in confusion.

Arthur explained directly without pausing, “You’re Hank’s mother, and I’m his father. The facts are right in front of us. It’s logical and saves a lot of unnecessary trouble. Isn’t it perfect?
“Moreover, you’re exactly my type. You have an interesting soul. It’s all so fitting, isn’t it?”
“What?” Claire exclaimed again in confusion.
Arthur chuckled without a hint of impatience and grasped Claire’s arms.
“What’s with the bewildered look, Claire? Am I not good enough? Am I not your type? Or is it my job that’s not respectable enough to be by your side?”
