As she spoke, she casually grabbed another snack.
Steven took a deep breath, chuckled a few times to calm himself, and then blurted out, “Mr. Chivers wife, your granddaughter–in–law Cherise, is pregnant. Mrs. Phoebe Chivers, are you surprised? Is it unexpected?”
There was complete silence on the other end of the line. Phoebe didn’t say anything, and Steven started to panic.
“Hello, Mrs. Phoebe Chivers? Mom, is everything okay? Did she pass out from getting too excited? Did you press her pressure point?” he asked.
The three men, who had been crouched, immediately stood upright, fearing that Phoebe might have overreacted and something might have happened to her.
Fortunately, after a moment, Enya spoke up. “It’s fine. Mrs. Phoebe Chivers is just a little stunned. Steven, are you sure about this? Why are you the one calling?”
Steven sighed. “It’s absolutely true. Mrs. Chivers herself told us. The couple is still in the office and hasn’t come out. They’re probably still soaking in the joy of becoming parents.”

“Enya, quick, let’s go to the mall! Have the driver bring a bigger car. Let’s stock up, go wholesale, and buy all the pregnancy things she’ll need.

In less than a day, the joy of Cherise and Morris was quickly known to those close to them.
