Arthur returned to his car, gazing through the window at the figure on the speedboat slowly drifting away on the lake. His thoughts seemed to wander far off.
But only he knew what exactly was on his mind.
Carson, Cherise, and Eugene were gathered around the dining table, finishing their meal.
After wiping his mouth, Carson asked, “Did you see Arthur by the shore?”
Cherise nodded and answered honestly, “Yes, I did.”
Carson gave a brief nod. “For him to have reached his position, ambition and strategy are essential. But overall, it’s rare to see someone who can balance caring for Clusia and its people, while still showing respect for his elders and caring for others.”
Cherise nodded in agreement. “Of course. Mr. Garcia, the leader you personally trained is clearly a chosen one. Just look at how Clusia has developed in recent years. The people are living in peace, and the economy is thriving. Not bad at all.”
“Exactly,” Carson affirmed.
However, he quickly added, “I’m getting old, and he’s one of my most trusted students. Over the years, there have been many people watching his position, but only a few pose any real threat.”
Cherise was a little confused. “Mr. Garcia, why are you mentioning this?”
Carson smiled. “Well, you are all my disciples, and now he’s your husband’s uncle. You’re family. When the time comes, I’d like to lend a hand if needed.”
Cherise didn’t fully understand. Arthur was a man of great power, the kind who needed nothing from her.
But then again, the more powerful someone was, the more likely they were to face envy or hidden challenges.
Cherise thought it over and nodded at Carson, signaling her willingness.
She always felt like Carson knew something, but he hadn’t been explicit about it.
Another weekend quickly arrived, and today was the day of Stella’s party.
It was just a simple gathering, and Cherise didn’t go out of her way to dress up.
She wore a simple pair of skinny flared jeans with a slightly stylish brown T–shirt and a pair of brown strappy heels.
But the simpler her outfit, the more it accentuated her figure and grace.
Especially since she and Morris had gotten married and had sex. Cherise’s figure had become even more curvaceous, making her the envy of everyone around her.
Morris was particularly protective of Cherise, worried that she might be mistreated by others, especially at events like parties, where there was always a lot of gossip and talk.

And since this party was being held at the Walton residence, Morris had already changed into his clothes and was sitting in the living room, waiting for Cherise to come downstairs so they could leave together.
Half an hour later, their car arrived at the southern part of town at the Walton residence.
Much like the Jarrett residence, the security and other safety measures here were tight.
What set it apart, however, was how much grander the Walton residence was compared to Lucas and Mary’s house.
It had both an air of grandeur and a touch of refined elegance.
As Cherise and Morris got out of the car, they looked around at the surroundings before exchanging a glance.
“Cherise, you’re a renowned architect. What do you think of the Walton residence’s interior design?” Morris asked.
Cherise smiled faintly. “It’s got ideas. They almost wanted to carve the word ‘ambition‘ on the front door.”
Morris, hearing this, raised an eyebrow and chuckled.
A lot of people had shown up. Besides the few familiar faces Cherise had seen before, there were many strangers as well.
And the diplomat’s wife Lucia, who had argued with Cherise at Taylor Vogue last time was also there.
At that moment, Lucia noticed Cherise and Morris standing together, and she slightly shrank her neck, quickly diverting her gaze to someone else.
“Hey, Cherise, you made it! I wasn’t planning on coming, but Jean said you would be here, so I decided to tag along,” a voice called from a distance. It was Mary, who looked more excited than anyone upon spotting Cherise.
“Mrs. Jarrett, hello,” both Morris and Cherise greeted in unison.
Mary beamed even brighter at their words. She was accompanied by Jean, but Lucas hadn’t shown up.
Phoebe wasn’t there either. She had been busy handling wedding details lately, so she had passed on this so–called party.
Not far away, Truman’s mother, Giselle, walked in with Xenia. Like Mary, they both lit up when they saw Cherise.
Giselle’s voice arrived before she did. “Hey, Ms. Leach! It’s been so long since I’ve seen you. You’re looking more beautiful every time I see you. Just look at that figure and that elegance. That’s amazing.”
“Morris, I bet you sneak out of bed in the middle of the night just to cheer for your good luck, huh?” As she spoke, she pointed at Morris.
“Of course!” Morris and Cherise didn’t respond, but Mary, standing nearby, proudly answered for them.
Giselle then noticed. “Hey, Mrs. Jarrett? So this must be Jean beside you.”
“Mrs. Simpson, hello, I’m Jean,” Jean politely greeted.
“Really, you look wonderful.” Giselle seemed just a step away from clapping in approval.
Fortunately, Xenia stepped in, gently pulling her back and calling a few times. “Grandma, calm down.”
They were familiar with each other and the atmosphere was good. Just as they were chatting more, an elegant, wealthy- looking old lady walked out from inside, accompanied by Stella and Lydia.

Today, both of them were dressed with grace and sophistication From a distance, it didn’t seem like a niece and aunt, but more like two friends.
This old lady was Cora.
As soon as Cora stepped out, many people gathered around her as if she were the key of attention.
Even though Mary held a higher status here, everyone seemed to overlook her and gathered around Cora instead.
Maybe it was because Mary was used to being modest and low–key, or perhaps it was due to Cora’s husband, a general in his youth, whose reputation still lingered even after all these years.
Morris, recognized by some powerful figures in politics, was invited over for drinks and conversation.
On Mary’s side, only Cherise and Jean remained with her.
Nearby, Xenia and her grandmother Giselle stood as well.
Perhaps Stella had noticed them, and after whispering something in Cora’s ear, she finally looked over in their direction.
Cora walked over. “Hey, Mary, you’re here? I’m so sorry. There are so many people I’ve been a little overwhelmed and didn’t notice you all right away.”
