Just then, Cherise came out of the kitchen carrying a birthday cake with candles on it.
She was singing the birthday song while walking towards Morris, Happy birthday to you.

As she finished the birthday song, she came right in front of Morris.
Looking up sweetly with a smile, she said, “Happy birthday, Mr. Chivers. I was just in the kitchen.
“I made this little cake myself last night and secretly hid it in the mini–fridge. Make a wish and blow out the candles before we have some cake.”
Morris’s face broke into a big smile. All the tension he’d been feeling suddenly disappeared, leaving only a deep sense of gratitude.
He didn’t usually celebrate his birthday, probably because of his family background. Phoebe suggested buying a small cake to celebrate, but he wasn’t interested.
He even thought that celebrating birthdays was for childish people.

As evening fell, the summer sunset painted the white exterior of the garden with a warm orange–yellow hue.
