That afternoon, Cherise drove back to Betrico University for herilasses.
As soon as she got to the campus, she received a call from Trent She answered, “Hello, Trent”
Trent said, ‘Cherise, come to my office. Liam has returned!”
Cherise agreed, hung up the phone, and headed to Trent’s office
The Betrico University campus was buzzing with news.
Someone remarked, “Hey, have you heard the news? The country’s leading piano virtuoso, Liam Wilson, is visiting several universities in Betrico to choose a new protégé.”
Someone else exclaimed, “Really? That Liam! Whoever gets chosen will be very fortunate. Becoming one of his students is like hitting the jackpot!”
A student stated, “Yeah, kheard he’s using the Betrico University piano competition as a disguise to pick students.”
Another one agreed. Totally, I’m already jealous of whoever gets chosen.”
“I think it will be Shirley. She’s won so many awards and played so well on the anniversary. There’s like a 99% chance it’s her!” guessed someone.
Another student agreed, “Absolutely. Shirley’s performance at the anniversary ceremony was amazing, and she’s got money and beauty–it’s got to be her,”
Shirley, Ruby, and Kira passed by with confident expressions.
Ruby said fawningly to Shirley, “I told you, the moment I heard Liam was coming to Betrico for new students, I knew he would pick you.”
Kira chimed in. “Exactly! Shirley, among all the gifted socialites in Betrico, your piano skills stand out. Once Liam takes you on as a student, you’ll be treated with the respect and admiration befitting royalty,
“Don’t forget us, your best friends, when you become famous!”
Shirley pretended to be modest as she said, “Ruby, Kira, you must be joking. There are plenty of female students in Betrico who can play the piano. How can you be so sure it’s me?
“Besides, the day after the piano competition is my engagement ceremony, so I probably won’t have time to practice.”
Shirley showed a shy expression as she spoke.
Ruby said, “Oh, come on, Shirley! You’ve already passed the highest level of piano exams, and you’ve won the Betrico University Students‘ Piano Competition three years running. It has to be you!”
Shirley quite enjoyed their praise. Though she appeared shy, her heart was filled with delight.
Shirley was determined to take first place in this piano competition and become a student of Liam.

Cherise arrived at the Dean’s office and knocked on the door.
Soon, Isaac opened the door and showed Cherise in.
As soon as she walked in, a loud voice greeted her, “Surprised!”
A man dressed in a denim outfit stood in front of Cherise,
Cherise smiled. Even after all these years, Liam was still the same.
Liam was 39 years old, one of the top piano masters in Clusia, and possibly the world.
With a youthful face and delicate features, he looked very young, almost like someone in their twenties.
Trent came over and grabbed Liam, saying, “What are you doing? Why scaring Cherise?”
Liam chuckled and said, “I haven’t seen Cherise in ages and just wanted to surprise her!”
Cherise ignored them and walked straight to the couch, saying, Liam, why are you at Betrico University? Aren’t you still on
the tour?”
Trent and Liam followed Cherise and sat on either side of her.
Liam explained, I’m exhausted from the tour, thought I’d come to Betrico to find a protégé to take over the world tour” Cherise massaged her temples. His response was exactly what she had anticipated.
“Oh? Well, you better choose wisely. I have to go to class now,” Cherise said as she got up to leave.
“Hey, wait up, Cherise! It’s been so long. Why don’t we all head to Marlon’s place for a barbecue?” Liam said excitedly.
Cherise shook her hand and pointed at Trent, saying, “Look, my boss is here. He won’t let me go.
After saying that, Cherise was about to leave again,
Liam grabbed her again and said, “Well, I want you to be a judge, or maybe just recommend a student for me.”
Cherise thought for a moment and replied, “Well, being a judge is probably not possible, but I can definitely keep an eye our for a suitable student.”
“Really? Do you have someone in mind? That’s great,” Liam said with anticipation, knowing anyone Cherise picked wouldn’t be bad.
Cherise shook her head and walked to the door, saying, “No, I just said I’d keep an eye out for you. I’ll start looking now!”
With that, she quickly said, “Bye, I’m off to class. Then she shut the door and walked away.
