Chapter 8
Kathryn’s POV:
Unbelievable. To think he actually ended up buying Juliette that insanely expensive dress!
They even had the nerve to hug each other right in front of me!
I averted my gaze, a sense of inexplicable oppression weighing heavy on my heart.
Was it true that whatever Juliette desired, he would give without a second thought?
It had been three years, and all I wanted was to earn even a sliver of his love, but even that seemed so difficult.
You’re ruthless, Lucian.
I had originally designed this wedding dress for myself, so to say that I wasn’t attached to it would be a lie. But with the divorce impending, there wouldn’t be any more wedding ceremonies, and thus no point clinging on to it.
Go ahead and buy it, then. The original price of this dress was just over a million in Azanian currency. Now that I’ve increased it tenfold, I’m the one who’s profiting.
I gave a slight nod, signaling my assistant nearby to swipe the card.
She looked toward me frantically.
I chuckled. “Didn’t Mr. Gandillon make himself clear? It’d be foolish not to seize such a rare business opportunity.”
Only then did the assistant reluctantly take the card to swipe it.
I fetched a ladder myself and took down the wedding dress from the display case.
When it came to the fitting, Juliette pointed at me and asked, “Could you come in and help me put this on? I don’t need anyone else.”
Getting his wife, whom he had yet to divorce, to help his fiancée try on a wedding dress?
Only an idiot like Lucian would do such a…
Before I could even finish my thought, I heard the man’s voice, laden with affection. “I’m counting on you.”
D*mn it!
How on earth did I manage to stay married to this lowlife for a whole three years?
Lucian stood in the glow of the spotlight, his hands tucked into his pockets. Half of him was bathed in bright light, the other half shrouded in shadow, emphasizing his tall and slender figure. His features were refined and noble, exuding an aloofness that kept people at bay.
What’s so great about this guy, aside from being handsome and wealthy?
I smirked. “Alright.”
He led Juliette into the fitting room.
The fitting rooms at L.MOON were quite spacious, more than enough to accommodate two people comfortably.
I calmly helped Juliette into her wedding dress.
Chapter 8
The dress was tailored to my measurements. Despite her already excellent figure, she struggled to fit into it, particularly around the waist. No matter how hard she sucked in her breath, we simply couldn’t pull the zipper up.
After several attempts, both of us started to break out in a slight sweat.
With a sigh of resignation, I turned around and fetched a pair of scissors. Behind her, I carefully cut away a few stitches from the waistline of her wedding dress. Only then was I barely able to zip her up.
As I bent down to adjust the skirt hem, I tried to ease the awkwardness. “We can take care of that with some slight altering.”
Juliette gazed at her reflection in the mirror.
On her, the dress looked even more stunning than when it was displayed in the showcase. The entire ensemble made her radiate an aura of nobility.
The woman then asked condescendingly, “How long have you known my husband for?”
YOUR husband?
That’s my husband! We’re not even divorced yet, you homewrecker!
I paused, scissors in hand, and straightened up, pointing the sharp end towards her. “He said he mistook me for someone else.”
Juliette looked at my reflection in the mirror, her expression relaxing slightly. “That makes sense. He’s swamped every single day, so there’s no way he’d bother with mere sales assistants.”
Heh.
She continued, “Working here must be quite tough, right? Is it commission–based?”
For the sake of over ten million, I held my patience.
I set down the scissors, moving to adjust her belt as I casually answered, “It’s alright. I don’t earn a commission.”
“Oh, so you’re the store manager?” Juliette’s eyes sparkled for a moment.
Manager? I’m the boss.
“Sort of,” I continued to respond half–heartedly.
She then bent over to pull out a business card from her purse, her voice laced with allure. “My husband is quite fond of Serenity’s designs and intends to place consistent orders from her, but I’d like a custom design. Do you think you could connect us to her? My husband is the CEO of Gandillon Group, so money is not an issue. I can also link you with some peers.”
Oh, the irony. He likes my designs?
Does he not know that the very designer he sought for Juliette was his own wife, with whom he’d been married for three years?
I refused to accept Juliette’s business card. “Your husband is so capable, so he should be able to contact Serenity himself. Wouldn’t it be better for you to seek him out instead of me?” I asked flatly.
Juliette was taken aback by the rejection, and her temper flared up instantly. She stuffed her card back into her purse, her tone dripping with sarcasm as she commented, “You’re right. I forgot that someone of your status probably wouldn’t even have the privilege to meet a top–tier designer like Serenity.”

After she finished speaking, she pushed me away and stormed out of the fitting room. As fate would have it, she ran straight into Lucian, instantly transforming into an aggrieved bunny. “Can you get someone else to help me? Her attitude is just awful,” she whined pitifully.
