Kathryn’s POV:
Chapter 23
I saw Lucian in the hospital parking lot. How did Lucian end up here?
I really didn’t want to see this man right now, so I turned to walk away, but he quickly strode up to me and questioned, “Why are you at the hospital? What’s wrong with you?”
What’s wrong with me? Ha! He had ruthlessly left me to deal with the side effects of a drug–induced desire by showering all night long, and he still dared to ask what was wrong?
“What’s wrong with me has nothing to do with you. Move aside!” I heard my voice sound sarcastic and cold.
Lucian’s expression immediately cooled as well. “Then who does it concern, Cornelius?”
I was stunned. What does Cornelius have to do with this?
Seeing I wasn’t speaking, Lucian’s tone became even more sarcastic. “Kathryn, you’re quite the master. On one hand, you’re seducing me, on the other, you’re talking about divorce and rushing to get involved with Cornelius. You’re playing both sides without a hitch. How come I never noticed your cunningness before?”
What’s he talking about? Who is seducing Cornelius?
“Who seduced you?” I demanded.
Lucian sneered coldly, “Wasn’t it you who was moaning for me to ‘give it to you hard‘ in bed last night?”
My heart sank as I stared at Lucian in disbelief. “What happened last night? Shouldn’t you ask your grandmother?”
That dessert had been laced with an aphrodisiac, and the only one who would do such a thing at Tempest Manor was Guinevere, who was keen on us having children!
Lucian’s icy gaze was filled with mockery. “So? Every new trick you’ve thought of in these three years was taught to you by my grandmother?”
What did he mean by that? A surge of anger shot through me from my toes to my forehead. I was fully clothed, yet it felt as if I were standing naked before Lucian.
That feeling was inexpressible. It was more like having my dignity stripped away, laid beneath his feet for him to trample.
For three years, I humbly tried to please him, not solely for the child but also because I liked him and wanted to do everything that would make him happy.
Yet, I never imagined that one day, these things would become his reasons to shame me as a wh*re.
We were a married couple! I was not some sexual toy he could use and discard at will!
I truly didn’t want to have anything to do with this man for even a second longer. “Lucian, if you have time right now, let’s go to the City Hall to get a divorce! I’ll leave with nothing, okay?”
As long as I could leave him, I didn’t want anything else!
Lucian’s expression darkened. “You’re in such a hurry to divorce me. Who do you want to marry? Kathryn, if you dare to divorce me, I guarantee that no man in this world will want you!”
That jerk! He still dared to threaten me!
I trembled with anger and forcefully pushed the man in front of me.
An indescribable sense of humiliation spread from my feet upward, causing a stinging sensation in my eyes and nose.
How cheap did I appear in his eyes?
What made him think that I would rush to seduce his good friend before the divorce was finalized? And he needed to remind me that no one would want a woman who had been “used!”
I kept my face cold, gritting my teeth as I said slowly, “Don’t worry about it. Even if I become Cornelius‘ secret mistress, it has nothing to do with you!”
Had I not just recovered from a fever, feeling weak in my limbs, I would have wanted to rush over and kick this jerk. I was blind enough to fall for him back then.
Just because he cheated, he thought I would do the same?
Lucian’s dark pupils were deep and cold, making it hard to read his emotions. He stared at me for a while and then coldly said, “You

wouldn’t dare!”
“Do you think I wouldn’t dare?” I shot back defiantly.
I could see Lucian was nearly boiling with rage, yet I felt particularly pleased.
The color of Lucian’s eyes began to change in the sunlight. I blinked, feeling as if I saw beast–like pupils for a brief moment.
Was it an illusion? Did I really provoke Lucian into that beast–like state?
Just then, Lucian’s phone rang, breaking the tense atmosphere between us.
He answered the call, and I sighed with relief.
He had looked as if he might abuse me at any moment, which was truly frightening.
“Mr. Gandillon, Mr. Klein was in a car accident. The client was stood up and is currently causing a ruckus at the company.”
“I’ll be there right away.” Lucian hung up.
Lucian shot me a cold glance and suddenly pulled out a box from his pocket, tossing it into my arms.
Without saying a word, he left to search for his
car.
I stared blankly at the box. What is this?
