Chapter 22
All Alphas wouldn’t want to be interrupted while having passionate encounters with their Lunas, and I was no exception.
Yet, the annoying sound of my phone ringing incessantly broke the moment.
After a long time, Kathryn and I had finally rekindled our old feelings. I was deeply immersed in her body, feeling the most wonderful sensations.
Just as I picked up the phone, ready to throw it away, I noticed the caller ID.
It was Ayla Reece, the only female Beta of the Tempest Pack.
She only contacted me when there was something significant happening in the pack that required my attention.
Suddenly, a rapid knocking echoed outside the door. Recognizing the familiar scent, I knew it was my grandmother.
Something big must have happened in the pack.
I quickly pulled up my pants, kissed my beloved Luna, and rushed out.
I hoped she wouldn’t hold it against me.
After handling the urgent matters, I returned to Tempest Manor, only to find that my Luna was nowhere to be seen.
The housekeeper informed me that she had left early in the morning.
Left? I pulled out a small gift box from my coat pocket, containing a gemstone necklace that Kathryn had once mentioned she loved.
I had instructed my assistant to buy it but had been too busy to give it to her.
I pulled out my phone and tried to reach her, but all I got was a busy tone on the other end.
I had been blocked.
Fine, that heartless woman!
I angrily tossed the gift I had prepared for her onto the couch.
Focused on dealing with the follow–up matters, I was so rushed that I didn’t even have time to change out of my clothes before I hurried off to the company to sign the documents that were due that day.
With a blank expression, I mechanically signed the documents, but my mind was still occupied with thoughts of my Luna.
Last night, she had been the one to initiate our intimacy, so why had she blocked me today? Why does she always have to torment me like this?
Knock, knock. A knocking sound came from the door. Before I could respond, the visitor entered uninvited.
It was Cornelius from the Bloodmoon Pack.
Cornelius was the son of the Bloodmoon Pack’s Alpha, and my mother was the sister of the Bloodmoon Pack’s Alpha, making Cornelius my cousin.
As Cornelius approached me, I caught the scent of my Luna mingled with his, the unmistakable aroma of our mating.
I teleported to Cornelius‘ side and grabbed him by the neck. “Why do you smell like her?”
Realizing the danger, Cornelius quickly shifted into a wolf, his massive paw grasping my hand. “Calm down!”
I also transformed into a wolf, and we instantly began to fight.
How was I supposed to stay calm?
The woman who had been intimate with me last night now carried the scent of another Alpha!
When I pinned Cornelius down and my claws pierced through his thick fur, breaking his skin, he finally panicked. “Lucian, are you serious? Don’t do this. I give up!”
“Speak!”
“Kathryn is sick! I had to take her to the hospital in an emergency!”

I slowly regained my composure. “She’s sick?”
How could she be sick?
Taking advantage of my loosened grip, Cornelius quickly scrambled up and stood as far away from me as possible in the office.
Cornelius quickly explained the situation. “I was originally looking for Serenity, but she wasn’t home. Her assistant, your Luna, was in that house. When she came to bring me water, she suddenly fainted, and I had to take her to the hospital.”
What a mess! I frowned, returning to my human form. I didn’t want to hear this nonsense. All I wanted was to be by Kathryn’s side.
In the past three years, she had hardly been sick. Why would she fall ill and faint?
I had to take care of her!
“Stop talking nonsense! Tell me the hospital and the address where she’s staying!”
After getting the address from Cornelius, I immediately went to the hospital.
However, when I arrived, the nurse informed me that Kathryn had just completed her discharge procedures and had left the ward five minutes ago.
I dashed toward the elevator.
First floor, second floor, third floor…
Why is the elevator so slow today? I won’t wait anymore!
I pushed open the fire exit, transforming into a wolf as I swiftly made my way downstairs.
Kathryn’s scent grew closer, and my heart felt like was gradually being filled with something.
When I transformed back into human form and stepped out, I caught sight of my Luna. Her petite figure stood in the wind.
She was still wearing the loungewear from when she was admitted, draped in a coat that didn’t belong to her, her face pale and looking very unwell.
“Kathryn…” I called out to her.
When Kathryn heard my voice, she turned to look at me for a moment before turning to leave.
What have I done wrong? She had been so passionate last night, so I thought she stopped being angry. She’s leaving as soon as she spots me. She didn’t even tell me she was ill.
My heart sank, and I quickly walked up to her, my voice cold. “Why were you in the hospital? What happened to you?”
“It’s none of your business!” My Luna’s voice was cold.
