Chapter 8
In fact, Loretta had already figured it out. She lowered her eyelids, contemplating how to strike back at Bruno.
Malcolm lowered his eyes to look at her. Seeing Loretta remain silent, he taunted coldly. “What’s wrong? Suddenly having second thoughts? You don’t want to break up with him anymore and plan to go along with his schemes?”
Loretta looked up at him, her lips pressed in displeasure. After a long pause, she asked, “Do you think I could fall for someone who betrayed me again?”
Malcolm sneered. “Who knows? Your taste has always been terrible, and your ability to judge character is even worse. You might just be foolish enough to do that.”
Loretta couldn’t hold back anymore. She smacked him on the arm and huffed, “I said I don’t like Bruno anymore, and I
mean it”
After saying that, she took off her mask and handed it to him. “I think you have a way to get Amy to wear this mask.” Malcolm, after being smacked, merely pressed his lips together and looked at her with those deep, unreadable eyes.
There are some games later. Be careful,” he said before Seeing the mask Loretta handed him, he reached out and took walking away.
Loretta watched Malcolm quickly disappear into the crowd. She turned and headed to the exit to get another mask to
Meanwhile, Amy, who had originally planned to keep an eye on Loretta, didn’t know what Bruno was up to. But she instinctively disliked whatever he had planned for Loretta later
wear.
To her surprise, when she walked into the bar, everyone was wearing masks and the lighting was very dim. In just a blink, she lost track of Loretta
Trying to stay on the edge of the room, Ainy moved cautiously. As she reached the side, she suddenly saw someone who looked just like Bruno, standing with his back to her, talking to another man.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she thought to go over and say hello, maybe even find out what he had planned for the
evening.
But just as she got close, she heard Bruno say, “Make sure to give her that drink later. You have to watch her drink it. The other man asked, “With all these people, how will I know it’s her?”
Bruno replied, “Her mask has a camera. I’ve linked her feed to your phone. Just go straight to her
“Got it,” the man responded before walking away.
After the man left, Amy approached and softly called, “Bruno.”
Bruno turned to look at her. Tonight, he was dressed in a white casual suit, and the prince mask on his face made him appear especially elegant and charming. Amy felt a surge of excitement. “Bruno, you look so handsome tonight”
Bruno looked down at Amy. He knew Amy had feelings for him Sometimes, even when he was with Loretta, he couldn’t help but think how nice it would be if Loretta looked at him with the same adoring gaze as Amy
He loved Loretta, but after years of courting her, he was starting to feel worn out
Especially today at Patrick’s birthday party, when Loretta had earrassed him by throwing wine in his face and declaring in front of everyone that she didn’t like him anymore. It made han realize that he had been too lenient with her.

Bruno had made up his mind to make Loretta completely his. That way, not only would she never escape him again, but he would also become John’s only son–in–law and the heir to Broderick Group.
He wanted to make a name for himself in the business world, no remain a university professor with a fixed salary.
“Thanks. Have fun tonight, he said
Bruno enjoyed Amy’s admiration, but tonight he wasn’t in the mood to deal with her. Planning to get rid of her for now, he leaned in close to her ear while everyone was distracted and whispered a few sweet words.
When Amy’s face flushed and her heart raced, he straightened up and said, “Enjoy yourself tonight. I’ll get you a gift in a few
days.”
Amy lit up with excitement and nodded. “Okay,”
As she turned and walked away, her smile vanished
She already knew Bruno’s plan tonight. Even though she knew that Loretta and Bruno were in a relationship and that it was only natural for them to do such things, she couldn’t help but feel jealous. Jealous to the point where it almost hurt.
Just then, someone bumped into Amy. As she was about to get angry, the person leaned in close and whispered in her ear, “This mask will let the person you like find you without fail. Want to try it?”
After saying this, the person shoved the mask into Amy’s hand and disappeared into the crowd.
Amy looked down at the mask she now held. Almost as if on impulse, she removed the one she was wearing and replaced it with the new one.
At that moment, the music in the bar suddenly blared to life. The deafening electronic beat made her scalp tingle as the whole bar erupted in energy
After some time, the music paused, and an enthusiastic voice came over the speakers. “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight’s Masquerade Party at The Imperial Club! Tonight, we’ll be playing a few games, and of course, there will be winners and losers. The first–place winner in each game will receive a from entry pass to this club for a whole month.”
The crowd roared with excitement, everyone cheering wildly.
After all, the club’s minimum spend per person was 30 thousand dollars. This prize was essentially a 30–thousand–dollar daily pass for an entire month, meaning the winner could rack up close to a million dollars‘ worth of free entries.
“The second–place winner will receive a ten–day couple’s suite pass to the Silver Horizon Hotel, which is next to our club,” the host continued.
“Woo–hoo!” someone cheered.
“The third–place winner will get a 30–thousand–dollar cash voucher. So, who’s interested in playing?” the host asked. “Mel” the crowd shouted back, brimming with excitement.
“Alright, then. For our first game, you’ll form teams freely and compete in a dance–off. The last team standing wins first place.” As soon as the host finished, he began counting down with his fingers.
The crowd joined in the countdown. “Five, four, three, two, one
Everyone was hyped up, and Loretta, standing near the edge of the room, suddenly felt someone approaching. She turned her head and, to her surprise, asked. “You put surveillance on me
“Please, I’m not that bored. Malcolm stood beside her and added just came to give you a heads–up Something might go down later, and you’d be wise to stay near the exit in case you need to make a quick getaway.”

“What kind of something? Loretta frowned.
–
Malcolm’s tone turned serious. “A few of my friends found out was coming here, so they came too. I’m planning to give them a little surprise.”
Loretta remained silent. Malcolm looked at her. “Relax, I won’t mess up your plans. But it’s going to get chaotic later, and with your small frame, even a little shove could hurt you. I don’t want you blaming me for that.”
Loretta stared at him for a few seconds before quietly asking. “Malcolm, you’re obviously worried about me. Can’t you say something a bit nicer?”
Malcolm abruptly turned his head away, letting out a disdainful short. “Don’t be such a narcissist.”
With that, he handed her a Bluetooth earpiece. “Put this on. I’ll keep you updated if anything happens, and if you need me. just press the button.
Then he walked off again. Loretta lowered her gaze, a small smile playing on her lips as she looked at the earpiece. Malcolm was so awkward that she suddenly felt a little curious to see what he would look like if he ever spoke the truth.
The dance floor was packed with eager participants. The moment the music kicked in, the room erupted in excitement. Loretta found a corner by the wall, half–leaning against it as she watched the lively scene unfold before her.
As the dance neared its end, Malcolm’s voice came through her earpiece. “The next game is a drinking contest. Bruno’s guy will be giving the drink to Amy
Hearing that, Loretta immediately understood that the drink was originally meant for her. She saw through Bruno’s trick in
an instant.
“The real show’s about to start, Malcolm added.
Just as Malcolm predicted, the second game was indeed a drinking contest.
Onstage, the host once again shouted enthusiastically, Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for our second game–drinking!”
The crowd erupted with wild cheers. Several waiters pushed in carts loaded with champagne towers, handing out glasses to
everyone.
