Chapter 3
When Loretta re–entered the banquet hall, she c
scanned the room and spotted Malcolm and Olly standing together.
Instead of approaching them, she made her way to Patrick, raised her glass, and said, “Mr. Pearson, I want to apologize for arguing with Bruno earlier. It was inappropriate for the occasion
“Til finish this drink as a form of self–punishment, and once my father returns, we’ll visit you together.” With that, she downed the entire glass of wine in one go.
The group surrounding Patrick consisted mostly of influential businessmen. Although they agreed that Loretta’s earlier behavior was somewhat out of place, they didn’t mind it since she was John’s only daughter and the heir to Broderick Group.
Besides, with her usual grace and talent, Loretta remained well–liked. Thus, Patrick wasn’t going to make a fuss over such a trivial matter.
Speaking like a concerned elder, Patrick said. “All young couples have quarrels. Take some time to calm down, and I’m sure you’ll work things out.”
“You’re right, Mr. Pearson. That’s why I’ve decided to head home now. I hope you won’t mind me leaving the party a little early, Loretta said.
Patrick chuckled. “Of course I won’t mind it! Once John is back, you both must come over for dinner.”
“Will do, Mr. Pearson. Loretta nodded at Patrick and the gathered businessmen before turning to leave.
As she walked away, Olly tutted and turned to Malcolm, who stood radiating coldness that kept everyone at a distance. “Wam to bet that Loretta and Bruno will make up by tomorrow?”
“What’s it to me?” Malcolm replied, his tone careless with a hint of impatience. Then he walked away.
“Hey, where are you going?” Olly called after him.
Malcolm didn’t bother answering, and Olly, about to follow, was quickly swarmed by a group of young partygoers.
Loretta exited the hotel and got into her car. She didn’t instruct the driver to leave right away. Instead, she made a phone call, then settled back to wait for Malcolm
As she expected, it wasn’t long before Malcolm appeared in the parking lot.
Malcolm was tall, his face chiseled like a sculpture, carrying a natural air of rebelliousness. His gaze was sharp, and his demeanor was always distant and dangerous.
Remembering what he had said to her in the end of her past life, Loretta opened the car door and walked toward him.
Malcolm’s pupils visibly contracted when he saw her. Without a second glance, he continued walking straight to his car.
Since he always drove himself, he headed directly for the driver side.
As he was getting into his car, Loretta opened the passenger door and sat down beside him.
Malcolm whipped his head toward her, his expression fierce, glaring like a predator ready to strike. “Get out.”
Loretta pretended not to hear him. She calmly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and said, “Malcolm, would you do me a favor?”
Malcolm’s face shifted to one of disbelief. He almost laughed at the absurdity.

“Because… Loretta tilted her head, her beautiful eyes gleaming as they met his. When Malcolm turned away in disdain, her voice took on a soft, almost melancholic tone.
“Bruno cheated on me. I’m so upset that I want revenge. But everyone I know is connected to Bruno in some way, and I can’t find anyone to help me gather evidence. After thinking it over, you’re the only one who could help me,” she said,
In Loretta’s memory, every
encounter with Malcolm had been like two blades clashing–sharp and hostile. Even after he returned from his years abroad, they had never exchanged a glance.
Therefore, her asking him for help seemed quite ridiculous,
She had already braced herself for a snarky retort, but after a moment of silence, Malcolm asked in a deep voice. “What will you offer me in return for helping you?”
“What do you want?” Loretta kept her gaze on his profile, noticing how sharp and defined his facial features were- edge of a sword. Yet, despite the sharpness, there was no denying that his features were incredibly handsome.

He leaned in, gripping her chin, and with an alluring voice, he said, “To return my favor, you have to sleep with

Loretta’s cheeks instantly flushed red. Her slightly parted lips trembled in disbelief, her eyes wide with shock and something else she couldn’t quite put into words.
Malcolm’s hot breath fanned Loretta’s face as he raised an eyebrow, staring at her intently with that infuriatingly smug look. as if daring her to react.
Yet, at his side, his hand was clenched so tightly that the veins bulged across the back of it.
Loretta stared back at him, and suddenly, she smiled.
“Deal. But I expect you to find evidence of their affair as soon as possible. Preferably something in bed. I want to catch them in the act.” As she spoke, she leaned in closer, so much so that her breath brushed against his car.
Malcolm instinctively let go of her chin.
Loretta watched as the tips of his ears gradually turned red, her smile widening Then, in a voice laced with temptation, she whispered in his ear, “Once Bruno and Amy’s dirty secret is exposed, I’ll let you have me.”
Pulling back, Loretta got out of the car. She took only two steps when Malcolm’s ear roared to life and sped away at 120 mph, leaving nothing but a blur in its wake.
Loretta furrowed her brows. “Why is he driving so fast?”
What she didn’t know was that after Malcolm had sped down the road, he parked on a secluded street. His hands gripped the steering wheel, and he lowered his head into his arms, his eals burning bright red. After quite a while, he muttered… “Damn it
When Bruno came back to the banquet hall from the garden, he realized that Loretta had already gone. He had no reason to stay any longer, so he left at once.
Bruno walked out of the hotel and got into his car. But

expression dark and brooding as thoughts swirled in his mind.
After a long pause, he finally pulled out his phone and dialed a number. When the person on the other end picked up, Bruno said straightaway. “She suddenly broke up with me. What should I do now?”
After hearing the person’s words, Bruno rub his face with one hand, his eyes dark with frustration. “I don’t want to wait anymore. I need to find a way to sleep with her. Once she’s mine, and pregnant with my child, then I’ll feel secure.”

With this new plan forming in his mind, Bruno’s face lightened lightly. He added, “Help me get some aphrodisiac. I’ll figure out how to get her to that club we always go to. The sooner, the better.”
He hung up and finally let out a long breath, feeling somewhat relieved.
What Bruno didn’t know was that as soon as his car left the parking lot, Malcolm, with an earpiece tucked discreetly in his ear, stepped out from behind a nearby car.
Watching Bruno’s vehicle disappear, Malcolm scoffed. He glanced at his phone, where the recording he had just made was saved, and without hesitation, he sent it to Loretta. Only after that did he walk leisurely toward his own car.
