Chapter 81
ANNIE’s hand flew to her mouth in surprise, and a look of worry spread across her features as she realized that Serena’s husband was the new Alpha King, It suddenly made sense why she had decided to come back home all of a sudden.
“Did he not realize the potential danger his actions could bring on you and Peter? What he did was incredibly risky.” Annie asked, shaking her head in disbelief, but Serena’s expression remained unchanged.
“That’s what I am worried about, which is why even before anyone can find us, I’d rather show myself to him,” she replied, somehow, she was getting stressed just thinking how her face was all over the country right now. “In a few days, let’s leav-”
Serena halted her sentence as she noticed Annie’s complexion drain of color. At that exact moment, her heart began to race as she followed Annie’s gaze whose eyes were wide with fear as she had seen a ghost. Suddenly, the wind picked up and the familiar scent filled Serena’s senses as she froze in her spot, her eyes glued to Perez who was currently walking towards them in the distance.
She gasped, her hand instinctively flying to cover her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes at the sight of him. He had cut his long hair, but he still held a striking handsomeness that she could never forget. Her heart raced as she tried to process her emotions in this unexpected reunion. Would he be angry with her? Would he force her to return home?
A whirlwind of thoughts and questions raced through her mind, causing her heart to pound against her chest. She watched him slowly approach; his face etched with longing. Despite the pull she felt towards him, her initial reaction was to step back, not quite ready to meet him yet.
But when she heard the sound of his voice, smooth and alluring, she instinctively paused in her retreat. His words seemed to reach out and beckon her closer, despite her hesitation.
“Don’t run away.” Perez’s voice was strained, and Annie hurried inside to give them some privacy. She then signaled Marcus that Alpha Perez was outside, prompting him to keep Peter occupied with a game.
It had been four years, four agonizing years of longing for his wife. Alpha Perez felt his whole body shaking, finally he had found Serena. The sight of her beautiful face, blue eyes glistening with unshed tears, made him take a step closer. He couldn’t believe it was really her, standing in front of him after all this time.
“I never give up searching for you. I’m glad to see you looking well.” Perez said, his voice thick with emotion. He then reached out a hand to touch her cheek, but she flinched away from his touch. Not because she was afraid of him, but because she felt guilty.
“H–How did you find me?” Serena’s voice trembled as she asked, curious as to how did he find her when he had just announced that he was searching for her. But then her curiosity vanished when Perez’s strong hand wrapped around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.
For a brief moment, she was lost in the intensity of his touch, forgetting about everything else. She even struggled to remember how to breathe as he hugged her tightly and buried his face against the sensitive skin of her neck/
“That doesn’t matter.” Serena’s eyes widened as she felt his body trembling against her. Her shoulder dampened with tears as he wept, and she fought back the urge to cry herself. She despised how she had caused him to break down like this; it would have been easier if he had just gotten angry at her instead of crying because of her own self–centered actions.
“I missed you.” Her hands trembled and she paused before embracing him in return, tears streaming down her face without restraint.
“W–why aren’t you angry? You’re supposed to be mad at me for leaving you without a word.” She sobbed, hugging him tighter. All the longing and pain she had experienced over these past few years disappeared, and all the memories of them. together flooded back as they reveled in each other’s arms.
Perez pulled back slightly, his hands still holding onto her tightly. He looked into her tear–stained face before speaking softly.

“I’m sorry for leaving, for hurting you.” she whispered between obs. Perez then wiped away her tears gently with his thumbs. before leaning in to kiss her forehead.
“I should be the one apologizing. I caused you pain that day, didn’t I? My plans, which I neglected to discuss with you, made you anxious.” He cupped both her cheeks, looking deeply into her eyes that he missed dearly. “I decided not to go through with my plan. I had already rejected Marga and started a conflict with the Alpha King… It was a long and difficult battle, but in the end, I emerged victorious. I took down the Alpha King and claimed his position two years ago.”
“Some viewed my rebellion with disdain, but most stood by me for revealing the heinous acts of that old tyrant. I have already avenged my father’s death, and we can now live without thinking about the previous King. So, let’s go back… Come home with me.”
“I understand if you need time to think about it. But know that I have always loved you and I will continue to do so until my last breath.” He said sincerely, rubbing her cheeks with his thumb as Serena’s eyes welled up in tears once again. She could feel his love radiating towards her, and it was overwhelming.
“I… I was planning to go back-” She wasn’t able to finish her sentence when suddenly, the door slammed open behind her. Peter then stepped out with his eyes widened in surprise as he saw a man with the same features his mother had described what his father looked like.
“Mama!” He dashed towards her and threw his arms around her thigh, gazing up at Perez who was frozen in shock after all, his heart was racing as he saw the child who bore a striking resemblance to both him and Serena.
“S–Serena, I–is he…” He stumbled over his words, unable to believe what he was seeing. “Is he, our son?”
Serena didn’t reply immediately; instead, she reached out and took Peter’s hand, urging him towards Perez who was visibly shaking while gazing at their son.
“Peter, this is your father, Alpha King Perez,” she said, not expecting she would introduce them to each other sooner than she had anticipated. Perez’s mind couldn’t even process what was happening at that moment; it felt like he was having an out- of–body experience. His heart swelled with a strange, unfamiliar feeling as he gazed at their child for the first time.
Tears then pricked at the corners of his eyes as he realized that all the endless efforts and painful struggles of the past four years had led to this precious moment. He couldn’t believe it was finally happening, and he knew deep in his soul that every single moment had been worth it.
“Peter… That’s a beautiful name.” He crouched in front of their young son, a warm smile spreading across his face as he gently cupped the child’s plump cheeks in his trembling hands. He had been hesitant to touch him at first because his hands had been stained with years of violence. But when the boy grinned up at him, all of those thoughts vanished and were replaced with a rush of overwhelming emotion.
“Papa, are you really a king?” Peter asked, his eyes twinkling with joy. After all, he and his friends used to play games of kings and warriors, with Peter always taking on the role of the King because he thought it was cool.
“That’s right,” Perez nodded, the sound of his voice calling him Papa made him more emotional. No matter how hard he tried not to shed tears again, it was proving difficult to stop. He just leaned forward and hugged his son, making sure he was gentle so as not to crush such a little body. “I’m the Alpha King, and I promised that I will make our country safe and peaceful so you can live your life to the fullest with your Mama, the Luna Queen.”
Perez gazed up at Serena, tears streaming down her face. As a result, he scooped up Peter and wrapped his arms around them both, feeling overwhelming joy and pride. After years of being alone, he could only imagine the immense happiness of living once again with the woman he had always longed for and their child who resembled the image he had envisioned in his mind.
“Let’s
go
back home and allow me to make up for the past four years when we were apart my Luna,” Perez said, his voice almost pleading for her to say yes because he wanted so much for things to go back to normal. “I want to be there for our child, and I promise I’ll be a good father, so please…”

As Serena looked into Perez’s eyes, she could see the sincerity and love in them. Despite all the uncertainty, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of hope and longing for a happy family with the man she had loved for years.
With tears still streaming down her face, she nodded her head, unable to speak as her emotions overwhelmed her. Perez’s face lit up with joy and relief as he hugged both her and Peter before kissing them on the foreheads while crying.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” he said softly, his voice filled with emotion. “Let’s go back to our new home and start our new journey together, the three of us.”
