Chapter 75
IT HAD BEEN days since Serena made all the necessary arrangements for her plan to run away. All the had left to down to escape from Alexia. She knew that if Alexia found out about her plans, she would try to stop her. After all, Alexa promised Alpha Perez that she would protect and ensure Serena’s safe return to him.
“Have you already said goodbye to your family nanny?” she asked, taking Annie’s hand as the finished packing, her things
“Yeah,” Annie nodded, placing her other hand on top of Serena’s, “How about you? You should spend time with your father
“Right, I should visit him in his study one last time,” she said as she stood up from bed and looked at her nanery, “He only have a few hours before we need to leave, so you should also make time to be with your family?
“All right,” Annie smiled, and they both left Serena’s room. Before parting ways in the hallway, they made plans to meet at the backdoor at 4:00 am. Serena then headed straight for her father’s study, knowing that he would will be working at this
late hour.
“Dad, are you inside?” she asked for confirmation as she knocked and when Alpha Robert told her to come in, the slowly opened the door. When she saw her father sitting behind his desk, she took a couple of steps into the room and dosed the door behind her.
“Why are you still working? You should be getting ready for bed already.” she sat on the sofa, looking at the wooden dock that read 9:00 p.m.
“There still a lot of work to do,” he replied, setting down his pen and shifting his gaze to his daughter, “I was on the phone with your husband earlier, and he informed me that Marga was already discharged from the hospital and her baby was safer
“I see, that was a relief.” Serena smiled, glad that she was fine because that meant, no war would happen between the blood moon and the King’s pack.
“He said he would call again later because he wanted to talk to you-” Alpha Robert’s sentence was abruptly interrupted by the loud ringing of the telephone on his desk. He shared a knowing glance with Serena before picking up the call, already aware of who was on the other end of the line.
“I was just talking about you, great timing… My daughter was here, do you want me to pass the phone over to her?” he asked, his eyes not leaving his daughter who looked anxious and sad at the same.
“Yes, please. Thank you, father.” Alpha Perez’s fingers tapped on his desk, eager to hear his wife’s voice. He had been too busy yesterday to talk to her, as he was focused on preparing a backup plan to save their pack from suffering. His decision to reject Marga after just one week of giving birth was already set in stone. On top of that, he was also occupied with investigating whether or not that woman really tried to frame Serena.
“I’ll give you privacy,” Alpha Robert silently mouthed the words as he handed the receiver to Serena, who gratefully accepted it with a smile. As she watched her father leave his study, she placed the receiver against her ear and brought it closer to her lips to respond.
“Dad just informed me that Marga and the baby were safe,” she said, not exactly sure what to say next because a mixture of relief and worry flooded through her as she realized there would be no war.
Relief, because it meant the safety and well–being of the pack. Worry, because she couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling that Perez might really raise Marga’s child with her, despite their history. The thought of them having a picture–perfect family was enough to make her heart ache. But she couldn’t bring herself to complain because it was her own choice to hide her pregnancy and the consequences that came with it.
“Yeah, fortunately, it wasn’t that serious.” Alpha Perez answered, somehow, he sensed a hint of sadness in Serena’s voice. It was as if she wasn’t happy to be speaking with him and he couldn’t help but wonder if her anxiety was causing this change in
her tone.
“Beta Jarren was responsible for her well–being and ensuring she was taken care of.” He tried to reassure his wife, hoping it

would ease her worries. Serena then smiled bitterly, knowing he sensed that something was wrong with her. She was just relieved he didn’t question her further, as she might have let slip what was really bothering her.
“By the way, Priscilla and I wrapped up the investigation. We discovered that there was a traitor within our pack, and it was Marga’s personal maid. It turns out she was paid by the Alpha King to deliberately harm Marga and make it look like you were responsible for it.” Alpha Perez let out a heavy sigh, still unable to believe how poorly the maid’s plan had been executed. The fact that there was no new maid already gave them enough reason to be suspicious and to think that a pack member would betray him was just outrageous.
“What happened to the maid?” Serena asked, unfazed by the revelation of the Alpha king’s involvement. After all, it was clear from that start that he had been just using Marga for his own personal gain all along.
“I killed her,” Alpha Perez replied without hesitation, causing her to feel a shiver run down her spine. “She betrayed me, and our pack, and regardless of her reason, she had still chosen to side with the Alpha king and almost cost us our lives.”
Serena bit the inside of her cheek, sensing her husband’s frustration and disappointment. She could also sense the guilt he felt for having to take the life of their maid. But it was a necessary punishment and also served as a warning to the other members of their pack not to betray them.
“Then… That means Marga was innocent, and a victim, right?” she couldn’t help but ask, causing a brief moment of silence to follow.
“That’s right, she was innocent this time.” Alpha Perez replied before he changed the topic since talking about Marga wasn’t really pleasant for either one of them, “Things had been settled, so you don’t have anything to worry about here.”
“Also, you’ll be returning home in just three days, so I was considering picking you up, what do you say?”
