“YEAH.” Serena merely nodded before she turned away, but she paused again when Calix spoke up yet again.
“How long are you going to have a vacation here?” he asked, causing her to face him.
Honestly, looking at him now made her realize that she no longer felt anything towards him–not love, not hate, nothing. His presence in her life had become insignificant.
“A week, why?” she asked, curious as to why he was asking that, “Does my presence make you uncomfortable?”
Calix’s eyes widened and he immediately shook his head, “No. I thought that perhaps my being here would make you uneasy, so I was considering staying at the hotel from tomorrow onward-”
“It’s fine,” Serena interrupted, a bitter smile forming on her lips, fully aware that she would no longer be in this place after three days. “Anyways, my father told me about all the help you’ve given to the pack, and I am extremely grateful. I hope you will continue supporting him in leading our pack, especially now that he does not have a successor.”
“What do you mean, what about you?” Serena’s body twitched slightly, recalling the conversation she had with his father about making her child the future leader of the Crescent pack. Obviously, she declined because as much as possible, she wanted her child to live a peaceful life without the weight of such a big responsibility.
“I don’t want to take on that responsibility.” she answered, “Still, I was relieved dad had someone he could rely on. Thank you.”
“You don’t need to thank me; I don’t deserve it.” Calix scratched the side of his neck, not expecting her to thank him. “But I promised that I would do everything in my power to support your father and help him lead the pack, so there’s no need to worry about it.”
Serena nodded, this time, her smile was genuine before she turned her back and left without interruption. Calix on the other hand touched his chest when he felt his heart thumping loudly against his ribcage, feeling completely unsure about the new development that he encountered.
THE NEXT DAY, Serena woke up feeling tired as her morning sickness kicked in. She had no appetite whatsoever due to the fact that she barely slept last night. After all, the past week had left her emotionally drained and exhausted because of how much she was trying hard to keep her emotions under control. Aside from that, she put extra effort into hiding her pregnancy–now the consequences were coming back in full force.
She quickly covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom, vomiting uncontrollably. She squeezed her eyes shut, feeling the acidic bile rising in her throat. After a few minutes, she splashed cold water on her face and rinsed out her mouth. For a moment, she stared at herself in the mirror, looking at how stressed she looked until her nanny knocked on the door.
“Serena? Are you awake? I’m coming in.” Annie said before slowly opening the door. Serena then took the towel and wiped her face before stepping out of the bathroom, where her nanny quickly approached her, “Did you throw up?/Should I get
you some water?”
“Yes, please.” She nodded, and her nanny helped her sit down before leaving the room to fetch some water.
When Annie learned about Serena’s pregnancy and her plan to run away, she was initially taken aback. But she quickly made the decision to support her and agreed to move with her to Avalonia Island. As a mother of three herself, she understood the struggles of getting pregnant and the exhaustion that came with it.
Even with her husband by her side, it was still a challenging journey for her. What more for Serena who chose to go through with her pregnancy alone and raise the child without Alpha Perez’s help. As a first–time mother, Annie knew it would be tough for Serena which is why she didn’t hesitate to go with her this time.
MEANWHILE, at the Blood Moon pack, Alpha Perez struggled to concentrate on his work. His mind kept drifting back to his wife, who was currently on vacation. It used to be him traveling while she stayed home, but now that she was away, it felt lonely and harder to focus on the work.

“What’s the point of staying behind if you wouldn’t be able to focus anyway?” Beta Jarren commented, causing his Alpha to snap out of his thoughts and look at him where he was settled comfortably on the sofa as he was sipping his coffee. “If you were anxious, just follow her; Priscilla and I will handle everything while you’re gone.”
“Besides, you need to discuss your plans with her. The longer you put it off, the more difficult it will become to actually have the conversation,” he added.
Alpha Perez let out a deep sigh as he leaned back in his chair, rubbing his forehead. He was unsure of what to do next. A part of him wanted to chase after her, all the way to the cast because the thought of her living with her ex–husband made him uneasy. On the other hand, another part of him wanted to be respectful of her decision and give her the space she needed to do whatever she wanted.
He couldn’t have been keeping her at home every single moment of the day. Not when she appeared to be under a lot of strain from the recent events that took place in the past month.
“I still have a lot of things to take care of, so I won’t follow her. Once she returns, I’ll discuss it with her,” he replied, determined to disclose his plan to Serena. “In any case, have you received any new information on the Alpha King?”
“Nothing, but it seemed he was laying low. He wasn’t even trying to communicate with Marga which is suspicious.” Beta Jarren placed his coffee cup down on the table as he continued, “Have you talked to Marga yet?”
“No, I don’t even want to be near her.” Alpha Perez scoffed, causing his beta to sigh.
“How will you carry out your plan if you refuse to communicate with her?” he asked, arching an eyebrow, “Our main objective was to win her loyalty instead of the Alpha King’s. Besides, you mentioned the importance of ensuring that none of you would reject each other in order to avoid causing harm to the pack.”
“I know but-” Alpha Perez’s sentence was cut off by a knock on the door that sounded urgent.
“Alpha, help us! Ms. Marga… S–she was bleeding!” The maid’s voice trembled as she called out, her breaths quickening. Alpha Perez and Beta Jarren shared a look of surprise before quickly rising from their seats and rushing towards the door in response to her distress.
“Call the doctor.” The Alpha instructed and Jarren did what he was told before running outside. “Where is she?”
“She was in her room with Sir Mathias.” The maid responded and Perez gave a small nod before trailing behind her as she led him to the annex. If anything happened to Marga, things would definitely go south. She had been doing well for the past month, and he was confident that all of her needs were being met. So why would she suddenly start bleeding?
“Did something happen? Was there an accident?”
“N–no, Alpha. She only had some juice like she always does, but a few minutes later, she started to complain about her stomach hurting. Then, she began to bleed.” The maid explained as they ran, causing Alpha Perez’s brows to furrow.
“Who brought her the juice?”
“T–the new maid Luna Serena assigned to the annex.”
“What? A new maid has been assigned? I don’t remember her ever mentioning that.” He racked his brain, trying to remember if Serena had mentioned anything about hiring a new maid since she usually kept him informed of any changes in the household.
“Y–yes Alpha. I don’t know the detail-” The maid jumped in surprise when she heard Marga’s groans once they reached the annex. In response, they quickly made their way to her room, where Mathias was helping Marga to walk. Blood was trickling down her legs, and she was weeping, clutching at her stomach. But as soon as she saw Alpha Perez, she immediately relaxed, comforted by the familiar scent of her mate.
“P–Perez,” she stammered, opening her arms as if she were telling him to embrace her, “Please save me.

Alpha Perez gritted his teeth, feeling a strong pull towards her. He tried to suppress the urge, but before he even knew it, he found himself closing the distance between them, and his arms were wrapped around her, holding her close to him which made Marga smile in satisfaction.
