SEVERAL WEEKS had passed and surprisingly, everything seemed to be going back to normal after Marga was confined in the annex. Maybe it was thanks to Mathias‘ support in helping Marga acclimate to her new surroundings. Initially, she was opposed to meeting her biological father, especially since he was partially responsible for her current struggles.
Despite the pain of discovering her entire life was built on a lie, Marga couldn’t suppress her curiosity about her biological father and the truth behind Emilia and Mathias‘ relationship. While she couldn’t fully forgive her father, she realized that her mother was the one at fault and decided to give Mathias a chance to step into his role as a father figure in her life.
At this moment, all she needed was emotional support. And because she had found it in Mathias, she was able to continue living in the annex without her mission weighing on her mind. Her father’s presence had somehow altered something inside of her, allowing her to forget her original purpose for being here.
“I just received a report that there were no longer any infected rogues within our territory.” Alpha Perez informed Serena when she entered his study, causing her eyes to light up with hope. “It seemed, they have already been taken down thanks to everyone’s help to hunt them.”
“That’s good to hear.” Her face brightened with a smile as she felt relieved that things were starting to fall back into their rightful places. She made her way over to her husband and settled onto his lap, responding to his gesture for her to come closer. “Why?”
“Nothing, I just missed you. We’ve been so busy lately; we haven’t had a chance to spend time alone together in weeks.” He sighed, wrapping his arms around her waist and nuzzling her neck. Serena couldn’t help but let out a small laugh as she leaned into her husband’s embrace.
“I missed you too.” she whispered, and they stayed like that for a few minutes, just enjoying each other’s company before Alpha Perez spoke up again.
“You know, we should take a break from all this and spend some quality time together.” He suggested, placing gentle kisses on her neck.
“I would love that. Where do you want to go?”
“How about we go for a nice picnic by the lake? It’s been ages since we’ve gone there.” He suggested.
“Right now?” She tilted her head sideways.
“Yeah, I will ask the cook to make us some food-”
“No, I’d like to cook our food,” she said excitedly as she stood up from his lap, “How about a picnic in two hours? I’ll start getting our food ready. Is there anything specific you want me to include?”
“Hmm, apple pie?” He hummed and Serena nodded, planting a quick kiss on his lips before storming out of the room. He couldn’t help but chuckle at how enthusiastic she was; it had been a while since he had seen her like that. It was a refreshing change to see their relationship improving, especially after all the difficulties they faced when Marga came into the picture.
Fortunately, their love for one another and determination to defy fate proved to be powerful enough to conquer any challenges that came their way.
While he waited in his study, Serena was bustling around the kitchen, preparing their meal for later. The maids and cook were lending her a hand since it was a rare occasion for her to cook, making the usually quiet kitchen a lively place today. However, in the midst of cooking, she suddenly felt lightheaded but tried to hide it so as to not worry the pack members who were happily helping her out.
She was in the middle of measuring out the flour for her bread dough when she suddenly stumbled backward, almost losing her grip on the ingredients. Fortunately, one of the servants caught her and saved both her and the ingredients from falling to the ground.

“Are you okay, Luna?” the servant asked with concern etched on her face. “How about resting for a bit? You’ve been busy these days so your body might be worn out.”
Serena nodded and let out a deep breath. She was well aware that she had been pushing herself to the limit, determined to fix everything. However, seeing the progress in their territory and pack made her proud that her hard work and dedication were finally starting to pay off.
After resting for a bit, she continued cooking and after what seemed like an eternity, she was finally done. The maids then helped pack the food while she went back to their room to change into new clothes and freshen up a bit. She took a moment to compose herself in the room before heading to the connecting door to sneak a peek at her husband who was busy working again.
“I’me done. Let’s go to the lake and get a little sun,” she called through the door and Alpha Perez nodded with a smile, finding it adorable how excited his wife was. It was a stark contrast to her mood the past few weeks where she was mostly serious and focused; it was like someone had switched a button to change her from a calm and collected person to someone full of life and excitement.
“Where’s Priscilla and Beta Jarren anyway?” she asked as they intertwined their hands while walking out of the house. The sun was shining brightly, reflecting its rays onto the surrounding trees and flowers that were no longer coated with snow.
“They were on a date,” Alpha Perez answered and once they arrived at the lake, they saw that the blanket was already spread out on the grass, and the basket filled with food was waiting for them. Serena let go of his hand and quickly slipped off her shoes before pulling out the food from the basket and placing it on the blanket.
“You sure look excited,” Alpha Perez let out a low chuckle as he watched her meticulously arrange the food. He then took off his shoes and sat down next to her, joining her.
“Well, this was our first date in a while, so I was happy. Why? Are you not excited to taste my cooking?” She teased, her playful nature showing itself.
“Of course, I am. I can hardly wait!” His response was filled with genuine enthusiasm as he hugged her tightly. Serena’s laughter filled the air as his lips brushed against her neck, sending shivers down her spine. Their eyes met, and the warmth in his amber gaze gave her a tingling sensation from head to toe. She couldn’t resist leaning into him and pressing her lips against his.
Alpha Perez was taken aback by her boldness, but he couldn’t resist placing his hand on the side of her neck and pulling her even closer to him.
“Open your mouth a bit,” he whispered.
“We’re out in the open, what if someone saw us?” she asked, feeling a little self–conscious even though there was no one else around the lake but the two of them.
“It’s okay, they likely already know that we have been intimate every evening.” He teased her with a playful glimmer in his eyes, earning himself a light smack on the arm from Serena. She couldn’t help but smile as she gazed up at Alpha Perez, who chuckled before leaning in to kiss her once more. This time, she parted her lips, allowing him to deepen the kiss and explore her mouth with his own.
After their passionate kiss, Alpha Perez and Serena began to eat their food. The late afternoon was silent except for the occasional rustling of leaves and the sound of their quiet conversation.
As they ate, Alpha Perez couldn’t help but admire his wife, Her silver hair cascaded down her shoulders in soft waves, and her skin seemed to glow in the sun. He also couldn’t help but notice how content she looked, as if this simple picnic was all she needed to be happy.
“I love your cooking,” he said with a smile as he took a bite of the pie she had made for him.
“Thank you. I’m glad you like it, the maids helped me make it.” Serena responded, then leaned her head onto his wide
shoulder. She began to feel drowsy, now that she had finished her meal and was feeling at ease. Still, they continued eating and talking about various things, from the packing business to their plans for the future.

However, the peaceful atmosphere and the warm breeze made Serena’s eyes slowly slip close, and before long, she was fast asleep. When Alpha Perez realized it, he gently lowered her head onto his lap and ran his fingers through her hair, wishing they could stay in this peaceful moment forever.
As the sun began to dip below the horizon, he signaled for the maids to come clean up their picnic spot. Then, he carefully picked up Serena and carried her back towards the house, making a beeline for their bedroom. After gently placing her on the bed, he leaned in to press a kiss to her forehead and admire her beauty.
“Sleep well, my Luna.” He murmured softly before returning to his study. He took a seat on his chair behind the table and opened the drawer, his eyes fixed on the paper containing his carefully crafted plan that he had been secretly perfecting for
the last few days.
