Chapter 62

“FUCK! Are you kidding me?! Who cares about the order? I want that bitch out of our territory!” Priscilla burst into anger after Alpha Perez explained the situation. The mood in the room instantly changed as everyone tensed up, but Beta Jarren was quick to defuse the situation by gently taking hold of Priscilla’s hand.

“Relax, I know the situation was fucked up, but we can’t go against the king’s orders, especially when he was finally showing his animosity toward our Alpha and our pack,” He looked over at Perez, Serena, and Taylor, who had all gathered in the study. “Instead of dwelling on the negative stuff, our attention should be on figuring out how to take down the king and make him pay for everything that he did to our pack.”

“We lost several warriors from the other night’s attack, and it might happen again.” Beta Jarren added, his voice calm but there was a slight hint of anger underneath it. “Disobeying the King’s orders could result in a declaration of war, which was not a risk we could take. The northern region was already overrun with infected rogues, and we couldn’t afford to add fuel to the fire by defying him.”

“The first thing we must do is address and solve that issue regarding the infected rogues; only then can we create a plan to retaliate against the king.” Gamma Taylor chimed in; his fist clenched tightly as he still felt the seething anger for the fallen warriors. Their pack had been known as the strongest and most formidable in the north, but their recent battle against the infected rogues had left them looking weak and pitiful.

Their battles were countless, and not once had they suffered any losses. However, their current enemy was formidable and hard to defeat, causing them to struggle. The stakes were high, and they needed to strategize wisely or risk losing everything they had fought for.

Their meetings were tense and filled with heated discussions as they tried to come up with a plan to defeat the infected rogues. It was a difficult task; these rogues were not like the ones they had faced before. They were stronger, faster, and more cunning.

The pack had already lost several warriors in their previous encounter, and they couldn’t afford to lose any more. The infected rogues seemed to have an endless supply of reinforcements, making it impossible for the pack to defeat them on their own.

After much debate and brainstorming, they finally came up with a plan. They would seek help from their neighboring packs. and strictly patrol the areas around the northern region.

Once the meeting was over, everyone else in the room left, leaving only Serena and Alpha Perez behind. Despite her promises to stay by his side, there was still tension lingering between them. Their relationship should have been growing stronger, but instead, it seemed to be straining under the pressure. Alpha Perez feared that this constant turmoil could eventually lead to their divorce. And that was something he couldn’t let happen no matter what, or else he’d get crazy.

While Serena had never planned on leaving him, she had made a promise to herself that if things became too difficult, she would give in to her feelings for him and end their marriage. After all, she was determined not to experience heartbreak again. She refused to let history repeat itself, where she had been betrayed before. This time, she would guard her heart fiercely.

“What’s on your mind?” Alpha Perez asked as he stared at Serena who remained seated on the sofa. “Can you come here? I want to hold you.”

She got to her feet and made her way over to him, settling into his lap as he reached for her hand and drew her closer in a gentle hug. Serena hugged him back just as tightly; the only audible sounds were their heavy breaths and the soft crackling of the fire in the fireplace.

Alpha Perez felt drawn to his wife, her warmth and love calming his troubled mind. He wanted nothing more than to stay in this moment forever, but reality soon pulled him back.

“I love you, and I’m sorry that I couldn’t do anything.” he broke the silence, feeling scared that his weakness made his wife hate him. If it wasn’t for the infected rogues, he might have already waged a war on the king. However, things were way worse than he imagined, especially with the King changing his tactics.

“I love you, too.” Serena grabbed his face, her expression softening “You don’t need to apologize. We both have a lot on our plates right now,”

Alpha Perez nodded, grateful for her understanding. He knew that he couldn’t afford to show any weakness in front of the pack or the other neighboring packs. It was important for him to maintain an air of strength and leadership.

But with Serena, he could be vulnerable and let down his walls.

“I hate that I was making you anxious. I know having Marga around must have brought back memories, but I promise to resist our bond as fated mates,” he reassured her, and she smiled while nodding “I won’t let you go through what you wen through with your ex–husband.”

His hand gently held her neck, drawing her closer as they exchanged a deep kiss. They stayed like that for a while, not needing to say anything, just enjoying each other’s company.

He then took in her gorgeous features as he leaned in for another kiss, this time more intense and prolonged When they parted, they gazed into each other’s eyes for a brief pause before Serena broke the silence.

“Make love to me,” she whispered, wanting to feel his love and assurance with actions rather than words. A faint blush graced his cheeks as he nodded, kissing her tenderly once again. He wanted nothing more than to make love to his wife and show her how much she meant to him.

Without a word, he picked her up and placed her on the table, standing between her legs. Serena’s eyes never left his filled with desire and love. Alpha Perez slowly stripped off his shirt, savoring the way her eyes roamed over his body. He then turned to help Serena undress, taking in every inch of her smooth skin as it was revealed.
