WITH A SWIFT MOVEMENT, Serena snatched up the rifle she had carelessly dropped and aimed it with practiced precision at the rogue’s looming figure. But her heart sank as she realized she was out of ammunition. She cursed under her breath and clenched her jaw, steeling herself for the inevitable attack from the infected creature. Its yellowed teeth gnashed hungrily as it closed in on her, its fetid breath stinging her nostrils.
With a surge of adrenaline, Serena braced herself for the impact and raised her arms in defense, ready to fight for her life.
As soon as he got close to her, she swung the rifle and struck its head, sending him tumbling towards the ground. However, he managed to recover fast and launched himself onto her, pinning her beneath him. He snarled threateningly as he stared down at her with bloodthirsty yellow eyes.
When he opened his jaw to snap at her, she swiftly shoved him away from her and scrambled away hurriedly. Unfortunately, her attack did nothing to stop the infected wolf as he lunged forward again with a roar, snapping his jaws close to her throat. Instinctively, she blocked the rifle with both hands to prevent him from biting her. As soon as his teeth dug into the gun, he swung his head, causing Serena to be thrown with the rifle.
She rolled around the pile of snow and the rifle slipped from her grip, leaving her defenseless against the raging beast. With lightning quick reflexes, she grabbed her hunting knife and plunged it into the infected wolf’s soulder with all her strength. The beast howled in pain, but its relentless hunger urged it to keep fighting.
Serena quickly stepped back, keeping a safe distance between them as she searched for an escape route. But the snow- covered landscape offered no hiding places or means of escape It was hard to run.
With determination, she continued to circle around the wolf, waiting for an opportunity to strike again. But the infected creature was not easily outsmarted. It charged at her once more, its teeth bared and eyes wild with hunger. She sidestepped the wolf’s attack and stabbed it in the other shoulder with her knife.
The wolf stumbled back in pain, giving Serena enough time to focus and call for help, but when the second infected wolf appeared, her heart started beating quickly and loudly. She had been so focused on fighting off the first wolf that she hadn’t noticed the second one approaching. Her whole body started to shiver as she realized her desperate situation.
The two wolves circled her, their yellow eyes fixed on her like a predator stalking its prey. Serena held on tightly to her knife, ready to defend herself once again. She knew that if she wanted to survive this encounter, she needed to be more strategic.
As the first wolf lunged at her again, Serena jumped onto a nearby boulder decorating the landscape for higher ground. The wolf snapped at her feet, but she was out of reach. The second wolf followed suit and leaped towards her, but she quickly dodged its attack and slashed at it with her knife.
The wound only seemed to fuel the infected rogue’s rage as it howled in pain and lunged at Serena once more. She stumbled backward because of the snow and found herself falling. The two wolves then approached her, their growls growing louder with each passing second.
Serena closed her eyes and braced for impact, knowing that this could be the end for her, but a loud thump on her chest made her open her eys–she could feel it, her wolf was already awake.
Without wasting any second, she channeled every ounce of energy into shifting into her wolf form. This was a skill she had honed over years of practice, knowing that it was both arduous and excruciating.
Her bones elongated and twisted, her muscles rippling and bulging as she transformed. The once smooth skin of her human body gave way to a thick coat of stark white fur, covering her from head to paw. Every fiber of her was burned with the intensity of the change, but she pushed through the pain, embracing her true nature as a powerful and majestic wolf.
The two infected rogues hesitated for a moment, taken aback by the sudden change in their prey. But their hunger drove them forward and they lunged at the wolf before them. However, they were no match for Serena’s fully awakened wolf
form.
She let out a fierce growl as she leaped onto one of the wolves, her sharp claws tearing through its flesh. The other wolf

attempted to attack from behind, but Serena quickly turned and sank her teeth into its neck. Both infected wolves fell to the ground in defeat.
Serena panted heavily as she stood over the bodies of her attackers. She could feel the adrenaline pumping through her veins, her wolf instincts taking over. But just as she thought the danger was over, another pack of infected wolves appeared in the distance. They were drawn towards the scent of blood and sensed that there was still fresh prey nearby.
At that moment, she realized that the infected rogues had already managed to get inside the gate and there were already causalities from their pack, in their wolf and human form. She whimpered and without hesitation, Serena’s fighting spirit kicked in once again.
She ran towards the approaching infected, ready to defend herself and her territory. The battle was long and fierce, with both sides refusing to back down.
“Luna!”
“Serena!” Jarren and Priscilla shouted from afar. As soon as they saw the white wolf, they already knew it was Serena. They both exchanged looks and as the battle continued, they transformed into their wolves and joined in to fight alongside their Luna. Together, they made a formidable team, their pack bond giving them an advantage against the infected rogues. But for every infected rogue they took down, two more seemed to appear in its place.
It was a never–ending cycle of fighting and defending, but they refused to give up. They were determined to protect their territory and their people at all costs. As the snow turned red with blood and the bodies piled up around them, Serena couldn’t help but pray that this would already end, especially since they already lost several of their warriors in the midst of it all.
Finally, after what seemed like hours of non–stop fighting, the last of the infected rogues fell to the ground defeated. Serena let out a howl of victory as she stood amidst her fellow wolves.
But there was no time for celebration yet. The aftermath of the battle was just as daunting as the fight itself. They had lost some good members of their pack and there were still wounded that needed immediate attention.
When the signal was given, the servants rushed out and nervously draped blankets over the wolves. Serena and her companions then transformed back into their human forms and hurried inside to change clothes. Meanwhile, other warriors assisted the wounded in making their way to the infirmary for treatment.
Serena stepped into her room and immediately broke down in tears. A part of her was ecstatic that her wolf had finally awakened, and they had prevailed in the battle, but another part of her was filled with disappointment and sorrow for the brave warriors who lost their lives in the fight.
“I’m sorry,” She cried bitterly, wiping the tears from her face before she pulled herself together. After all, she couldn’t be this week, and this wasn’t the time for her to wallow in guilt and sadness,
As soon as she changed into fresh clothes, she hurried downstairs where Priscilla was issuing orders in her place. When their eyes met, they immediately approached each other and shared a comforting embrace.
“Death was inevitable during battles, so don’t blame yourself, okay? You did a great job. Without you, the number of casualties would have doubled.” Priscilla rubbed Serena’s back, sensing that she was blaming herself for the deaths of several warriors.
Serena nodded, determined not to let her tears fall. She knew that if she showed any sign of weakness, the others who were currently holding it together would also break down, especially those who had lost loved ones.
“The sun was going to rise soon, and we still have a lot of work to do,” she said softly, unable to mask the sadness in her voice. “Let’s go and help the others. After that, I’ll have to contact Alpha Perez and update him on the situation.”
