Chapter 59
“MY MATE-”
“Stop calling me that, why are you here?” Alpha Perez’s face twisted into a scowl at the mere presence of her made his blood boil, yet the connection between their wolves was so strong that he was having a hard time taming it. “Whatever, get out of my sight.”
He shut the door and strode past her, but Agnes reached out and grabbed his hand. He was taken aback by the chill of her fingers around his wrist, and for a moment, his thoughts went blank. But then Serena’s image flashed through his mind, snapping him back to reality as he swiftly pulled away from Agnes’s grasp.
“Don’t fucking touch me!” he growled, “I have no idea why you’re here, but I suppose I’m grateful for the opportunity to finally reject you.”
Agnes‘ eyes widened in surprise, but her détermination remained unshaken. The Alpha King approached her with a proposition: if she could gain the trust of Alpha Perez, he would grant her a permanent home for her and her mother who was kicked out of their pack.
Of course, she did not let the opportunity past. After all, she needed to gain power so she could take revenge on Serena for ruining her–life. Though she was still upset with her mother for keeping her identity a secret, she still decided to stick with her because they only had each other now.
Aside from that, the rumors of her being destined to be with Alpha Perez seemed to have reached the ears of the Alpha King. That was why he was searching for her. She had been initially frightened when she and her mother were taken while walking around, but they soon realized that no harm was intended and willingly went with them. They had been hiding at the palace for a week now, trying to avoid any potential danger, especially since Alpha Robert was searching for them.
“No, don’t reject me, please. I beg of you; I don’t want to suffer a miscarria” she fell to her knees, her pleading scent rising
and filling the air around them. Alpha Perez gritted his teeth, feeling his wolf grow more restless with each passing second. He didn’t care about her miscarriage–all he wanted was to be freed from the suffocating connection they had as fated
mates.
“Even if you and your baby die, I don’t care,” he said in a chilling and cruel tone that sent shivers of fear down Agnes‘ spine. His dark Alpha aura seemed to slowly envelop her, intensifying her sense of dread. “I, Alpha Perez-”
His words were interrupted by Agnes who abruptly stood up and embraced his torso, causing a shiver to shoot down his spine. He reached out and pushed her away with force, causing her to stumble backward. But rather than falling, the King’s beta appeared out of nowhere and caught her.
“What exactly is going on?” Alpha Perez clenched his jaw, his amber gaze turning fierce as he glared at the beta. It was clear they were plotting something, and the fact that Agnes was here speaks volumes of their intention, “I’m going back to the north-”
“The king has summoned you, and it would be wise to meet with him now. Are you planning on defying his orders?” The beta’s voice was almost a warning as he reached to help Agnes stand upright. As soon as she was on her feet, she looked away from Alpha Perez’s intense glare with a sense of unease. “I’ll guide you to him.”
Meanwhile, at the Blood Moon pack house, chaos reigns as everyone scurries around in a panic. The rogues had already slipped past the borders and were now making their way towards the pack house with alarming spoed, almost as if it was their intended target all along.
“Go on, hide everyone who couldn’t fight.” Serena barked out orders, her voice commanding and filled with urgency. She guided the young ones to the underground room, a secure haven where they would be sheltered from the impending attack.
The deafening sound of bullets and snarls echoed through the halls as she cautiously peered outside. The snow was coming down in thick, heavy flakes, obscuring her view and making it nearly impossible for the warriors to effectively fight off the raging rogues at the gate.

At that moment, Serena knew that this battle would be a relentless and drawn–out one. Not only were they facing infected rogues, but the weather was also proving to be an obstacle. To make matters worse, they had little time to strategize and were quickly running out of specialized ammunition due to the unexpectedly high number of rogues.
“Shit,” she muttered, “I’m going to help them. Priscilla, stay here with the rest, okay?”
“Huh? Wait! You can’t go outside, it was dangerous.” her sister–in–law stopped her, and Serena smiled, touching Priscilla’s hand that was holding her wrist.
“I’ll be alright, you know I fought in the recent war. I’m skilled with guns, trust me.” she reassured, “They were struggling because of the snow, so I’d be using a rifle to shoot from afar.”
“But…” Priscilla’s concern was evident on her face as she hesitated, her words faltering. “If anything goes wrong, just call out for me and I’ll come running for you,”
“Promise.” Serena smiled before she ran upstairs to change her clothes. She then went straight to the armory to retrieve some extra rifles and bullets before she stepped outside, bracing herself for the cool breeze that greeted her like a slap in the face.
The wind whipped at her hair and clothes, causing a chill to run down her spine. It was just as she had expected–windy, cold, and blustery. If the weather continued to be unpredictable like this all night long, the situation would become even more difficult than she first imagined..
“Luna! Where are you going?” Beta Jarren’s voice echoed loudly behind her, causing her to turn and face him. He had a serious expression on his face as he ran towards her, grabbing her arm. It appeared that he had just finished inspecting the back gate. “You can’t fight, the Alpha ordered me to protect you
“I know, but I’m sorry for being stubborn. I can’t simply hide inside while our warriors are struggling to defend the pack.” She yanked her arms out of his grasp, “Don’t worry, I won’t get too close to the gate, why else do you think I had a rifle?”
Beta Jarren’s fist tightened, torn between allowing her to leave and holding onto her. But when he caught the fierce resolve in her
gaze,
it was clear she wouldn’t back down. He let out a heavy breath and ran his hand through his hair.
“All right, but please, don’t ever cross the gate,” he spoke with conviction, ensuring that she grasped the gravity of the situation. She simply nodded in acknowledgment, aware that he was only concerned for her safety. Serena gave his shoulder a gentle tap before swiftly turning and making her way towards the gate, where the relentless fight between rogues and warriors continued to rage on.
As she neared the gate, her gaze was drawn to the tree nearby. She then made a split–second decision and began to climb it, after all, she needed a better view of the battle raging outside. But as expected, the climb proved difficult as the tree was slick and unsteady because of the windy snow, but still, she finally reached the top unharmed.
Perching on a sturdy branch, she surveyed the scene below outside the gate: human warriors stood guard behind while the warriors who shifted into their wolves were at the forefront of the fight.
One of them was Gamma Taylor’s wolf who howled and attacked the rogue mercilessly. Fortunately, there hadn’t been any casualties yet, but she worried that it wouldn’t last long with how difficult it was to take down just one infected rogue. With a quick motion, she took the gun that was hung on her shoulder and loaded it with silver bullets before adjusting the scope for better aim.
She then adjusted her stance and focused on the rogues attacking the warriors with relentless force. Each time she fired a shot, the warrior’s wolves pounced and tore at their throats until they were lifeless. It was a brutal and disturbing scene, but her precise aim proved to be effective in aiding the warriors in defeating the infected rogues.
As a result, she remained focused and continued to shoot, taking aim with precision each time to ensure the bullet hit the prey perfectly. After a few minutes, fatigue began to set in from her crouched position. She shifted slightly, but her hand accidentally brushed against a snow–covered branch, causing her to slip and fall from the tree. Fortunately, a thick pile of snow below helped cushion her landing.
She let out a deep sigh of relief, grateful that she had managed to escape danger. But her sense of safety was short–lived as

she heard a menacing growl behind her. Her heart raced as she swallowed hard and quickly turned her head, only to come face to face with a large rogue. Its saliva dripped from its sharp teeth, and its eyes locked onto her with hunger and malice.
“Fuck, how did he get in?” she muttered as fear surged through her body, realizing she was not yet out of harm’s way.
