Chapter 50
“GOOD MORNING,” Alpha Perez’s gentle voice was what greeted Serena when she woke up the next day. Despite the stressful events of last night, she felt rejuvenated and well–rested from a good night’s sleep. Maybe it was because the burden of the secrets she learned had finally been revealed and lifted off her shoulders.
“Good morning,” She smiled as she closed her eyes, savoring the warmth of her husband’s lips against her forehead as he leaned in while sitting beside her on the bed. But as he pulled away and she opened her eyes to look at his handsome face, her smile faded into a bitter expression as she remembered that he hadn’t rejected Marga last night.
“What’s wrong?” he asked noticing her somber expression. Serena averted her gaze and stayed quiet, unsure of how to respond. While she understood that it wasn’t his fault as last night had been a chaotic day, she shouldn’t dwell on it. She couldn’t help but feel a little anxious, considering Marga’s manipulative nature. After all, there was a possibility that she would resort to any means necessary to secure Perez, who was destined to be her mate.
“Are you upset that I didn’t reject Marga last night?” Serena’s head snapped back to face him as he grasped her chin and turned it towards his direction, impressed by how easily he caught on to what was bothering her. “Don’t worry, I’ll have your father send out some of his warriors to look for her, I’m sure she and your mother hadn’t gotten that far since they have nowhere to go.”
“They even–might return to beg your father for forgiveness or to retrieve their possessions, seeing how they were kicked out with nothing in hand.” He added as he mentally berated himself for forgetting the important things he was supposed to do the night before.
“I’m not upset with you; I’m just worried a little. But let’s put that aside for now. What matters is that my plan for simple revenge was successful thanks to your help,” Serena sat up with a deliberate slowness and reached for Alpha Perez’s hand entwining their fingers before resting her head on his sturdy shoulder. “I can’t help but wonder, do you think my mother and Marga would retaliate against me for causing so much damage in their lives?”
“With their personality? I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.” He tightened his hold on her hand, “But don’t worry, I will always be here to protect you.”
“I know you would, but I hope I can awaken my wolf soon so, I would be able to shift. That way, I won’t have to keep relying on you as much as when we faced the infected rogues.” Serena responded before meeting his gaze as he turned to face her. He then smiled and gave her a reassuring pat, letting her know that he understood.
“When we get home, I’ll start helping you with the real training. He kissed her forehead and pulled back, “But I’ll tell you now that it won’t be easy, so you need to ready yourself on all levels–physically, mentally, and emotionally.”
Serena’s throat tightened as she listened to the serious tone in his voice. But despite her initial fear, she couldn’t help feeling a sense of satisfaction that he wouldn’t go easy on her just because she was his wife. This only fueled her determination to awaken her wolf and finally master the shift when it was most necessary.
“Anyway, should we get ready now? We still have to share a breakfast with your father.”
Alpha Perez asked, not wanting to keep his father–in–law waiting for whatever they had planned for the day. After all, it was their first time sharing a meal together, and he wanted to make a good impression despite his initial hate towards him for treating Serena poorly in the past.
He had never imagined that things would end up like this, especially with Alpha Robert expressing genuine remorse and sincerely apologizing to Serena the previous night. Crying was one thing but witnessing him kneel down and beg for forgiveness was a whole new level. And the fact that his father wasted no time in banishing Marga and Emilia from the pack as soon as he discovered their secrets, while not getting angry at Serena for ruining his birthday party, speaks volumes about how much he had changed.
“You looked cute,” Alpha Perez wrapped his arms around Serena from behind when he saw her wearing the dress she had left behind in this house. It was a simple dress, but she looked absolutely adorable in it.
“Was I? My father had given
me this as a present, but I never wore it because I cherished it like a precious gem.” Serena

chuckled, remembering how all the gifts she had received from his father remained untouched, enough for this dress to look small on her compared to how she dressed now.

“Anyway, we’re matchy again.” She smiled at him as she spun around, taking in his appearance in the blue polo shirt he was given earlier because he didn’t have a change of clothes. After all staying for the night wasn’t on their plan. Luckily, the beta’s son was a similar size to Perez, and a new set of clothes fit him perfectly.
“We looked like a loving couple, as always.” He gave a sly grin before wrapping his arm around her waist and planting a kiss on her lips. He had wanted to do it last night, but he held back knowing that things could quickly become intense, especially after knowing Serena agreed to get marked.
“Mmnn,” A soft, low moan escaped her lips as she felt his warm, wet tongue meet hers, deepening the kiss that she thought would be a simple peck. Her body responded with desire, and she eagerly wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. But just as their passion began to ignite, a sharp knock on the door shattered the moment, causing them to break apart.
“Luna Serena, Alpha Perez, it’s time for breakfast,” Annie announced as the couple smiled and clasped hands before opening the door, exuding a warm energy that made Annie grin. Compared to their previous intimidating aura, they now seemed radiant, and it brought her a sense of relief. “Alpha Robert and Sir Mathias were already seated in the dining room; I will escort you there.”
“Thank you, Nannie Annie.” Serena smiled before they headed towards the dining hall, where her father was deep in conversation with Mathias, both looking happy as if nothing had happened last night. With that, she shared a surprised look with her husband, astonished at how well Alpha Robert and Mathias seemed to be getting along.
“Oh, you’re here? Come on sit down.” Alpha Robert’s smile widened as soon as he saw the couple entering the room. His heart warmed at the sight of Serena in her familiar dress, and he couldn’t help but feel a little emotional, “You looked beautiful, my daughter.”
Serena couldn’t believe she was being called ‘daughter‘ by her father. It was slowly dawning on her that they were getting a fresh start, and she hoped that both of their hearts would mend in the process. She smiled and walked towards the table, taking a seat next to her husband.
“I noticed you are finally wearing the dress I gave you for your 21st birthday.” Alpha Robert commented, relieved that she was beginning to use the things he had carefully picked for her.
“I didn’t want to waste all the birthday gifts you gave me by just leaving them untouched. It seemed more meaningful to actually use and enjoy them instead of just treasuring them.” She explained.
“Y–you treasured them?” Serena was confused by Alpha Robert’s sudden expression of surprise, while Alpha Perez and Mathias remained silent and observant during their conversation. “I thought you didn’t like any of the presents I gave you because I was never there to celebrate your birthday with you.”
“I honestly like all the gifts you’ve given me. The fact that you took time out of your busy schedule to choose something for me means a lot.” Serena smiled, reminiscing about the joy she used to feel when Annie would bring her the birthday present her father had given her. “From now on, I will make use of them and take them back with me when we return home.”
“Are… are you going back to the north after this breakfast?” Alpha Robert’s mood shifted to a slight gloominess as if he was already lamenting the idea of saying goodbye to her even though they rarely spoke or spent time together.
“Although we wanted to stay longer, it was time for us to check out of the hotel and there were still many tasks that required our attention back home.” Alpha Perez chimed in, “It had not yet been reported in the news outlet, but the virus that targeted the rogues was already beginning to spread in the North”
“What?” Alpha Robert’s surprise was clear when those words reached his ears.
As they began to eat, the four of them became engrossed in discussing the virus. Even after their plates were cleared, they continued to chat for a few more minutes before Alpha Perez and Serena decided it was time to return to the hotel.
Though Alpha Robert didn’t want to let them go yet, he ultimately decided it was not wise to keep them for too long. After

“Take care, Dad… I know what I did last night would cause trouble to the pack, but I promise to do everything in my power

restore Crescent’s reputation,” Serena said as his father embraced her. Alpha Robert nodded in agreement and gently patted her on the back.
“Don’t worry about it too much. Also, when I have the chance, I’ll come visit you to the north with your Nannie Annie,” he spoke softly before pulling away and exchanging smiles. He then bid his son–in–law and Mathias farewell.
