Chapter 48
“W–WHAT nonsense are you saying?” Marga stuttered, her eyes darting between Calix and the newspaper he held with shaking hands. His gaze was intense, causing her to shrink back in fear, especially when he took a step towards her and threw the newspaper directly at her face which made her wince.
The whispers in the room grew louder, and even Luna and Emilia couldn’t believe what they were reading in the newspaper. Alpha Robert also seemed taken aback as he held a copy in his hands. Suddenly, Marga’s trembling hands reached for the discarded newspaper and picked it up from where it fell.
When she saw the front–page photo of her and Cesare kissing, she stumbled back in shock, but her mother reached out and steadied her to keep her from falling. Marga’s face then was filled with terror as she desperately looked between her parents, hoping they would support and defend her in this situation. After all, she couldn’t deny it with a lie because the evidence against her was overwhelmingly strong.
However, nobody seemed inclined to step in. Not even her father and Cesare who had slipped away to avoid drawing any attention. He hadn’t expected their secret affair to be exposed so suddenly, and in panic, he had chosen to run away and come up with a plan to twist the story and put the blame entirely on Marga.
“W–wait, this must be a misunder-”
“What was there to misunderstand? It was clear that your favorite daughter was having an affair, or are you blind?” Serena interrupted, “Are you going to tolerate her wrongdoings again, Luna Emilia?”
“What? You know you were being rude and disrespectful. I am still your mother! And how could you do something that would ruin your father’s birth-”
“Quit referring to yourself as my mother, because the way you treated me wasn’t aligned with the role.” Serena cut her off again, “I can’t even fathom being related to you and Marga. It’s not just your physical resemblance that bothers me, but also your behavior. You both have a habit of making another man take responsibility for the child that wasn’t theirs.”
Serena’s words caused a ripple of shock and intrigue to spread through the room, as all eyes widened in surprise. Many had assumed this banquet would be dull, with the Crescent Pack having lost its former glory due to recent problems. But as they listened to the conversation unfolding before them, they realized that this gathering was far from boring. In fact, it seemed they were about to witness the ultimate downfall of the pack.
In a sudden and unexpected turn of events, Luna Emilia’s face drained of color, her features contorting in a mask of shock and fear. Her body trembled as if stricken by some invisible force, while her daughter Marga mirrored her expression with confusion. Calix and Alpha Robert couldn’t hide their surprise and disbelief either.
Serena, on the other hand, couldn’t suppress a feeling of satisfaction as she observed their collective reactions. This was precisely what she had anticipated when she exposed the truth, and it filled her with a twisted sense of happiness.
“What do you mean by that?” Alpha Robert asked as he turned to his youngest daughter. He then crumpled the newspaper in his hand, angry that Marga had once again caused damage to their pack’s already tarnished reputation. Despite his efforts to repair it, she continued to create obstacles for him, and he had enough.
Though he could that Serena was deliberately sharing this information in front of everyone to get back at them for how they had treated her, he couldn’t bring himself to blame her. He understood that this was probably her way of getting back at them for their mistreatment towards her. That’s why he allowed her to continue speaking instead of pulling her aside to discuss the matter privately.
“Emilia,” He called, his voice was rigid and threatening as he turned towards his wife who shrank back in fear. “What was Serena trying to say?”
“I–I don’t know what she was talking about,” She tried to defend herself, attempting to remain composed as she held Marga’s hand, but her trembling and the obvious deceit on her face made Alpha Robert narrow his gaze at her “She was just probably making stories as an act of revenge-”

“Honestly, I wanted to leave this suffocating place already so, for the sake of ending this whole ordeal as soon as possible, I’ll answer the question instead,” Serena interrupted, feeling her husband’s fingers gently grasp hers and intertwine them. This was his way of silently showing his support and assuring her that she could give her all, knowing he would be there to protect her every step of the way.
Tension hung in the air, causing everyone in the room to hold their breath as they fixated on Serena, waiting for her to speak. And when she finally did, the room fell silent as they all focused on her words, making sure not to miss a single one.
“Consider this revelation as one of my gifts, Alpha Robert,” she said after a moment of silence, her eyes darting from her half–sister to her mother and then back to her father. “Marga wasn’t your daughter,”
Luna Emilia and Marga both inhaled sharply at the same time, their mouths dropping open. Marga quickly regained her composure, glancing at her mother as if asking what the hell Serena was talking about.
“Was it true?” The murmurs of the group fell silent at the sound of Alpha Robert’s voice, the intensity of his aura growing thicker as if he was struggling to maintain control. “Emilia, tell me the truth. Was Marga, not my daughter?”
“C–come on, dear. H–how could you believe such a lie? Marga was our first daughter, I–if it wasn’t then who—”
The deafening bang of the heavy wooden door bursting open stopped Luna Emilia from continuing her sentence, drawing all eyes to the unexpected interruption. A hush fell over the room as Mathias strode in, flanked by two fierce crescent pack warriors who were desperately trying to hold him back. Despite their efforts, they could not stop the unwelcome guest from entering, as Alpha Perez’s own warriors were present and protecting Mathias.
“What are you doing here? How dare you crashed-” Alpha Robert stopped abruptly, a realization dawning on him. With a sudden and decisive movement, he turned to Luna Emilia and grasped her arm tightly, as if he had just solved a crucial piece of the puzzle “Was he the father of Marga?”
“N–no, of course not!” Luna Emilia immediately cried out while shaking her head, refusing to reveal the truth because she knew it would spell trouble for herself and her daughter. “Believe me, dear! You left a permanent mark on me, don’t you
would sense it-” remember? If I were to mate with someone else, you
“Exactly, I marked you and that was why I could sense your fear right now.” He let out a low, menacing growl as he tightened “his grip on her, causing her to flinch in pain. With a rough tug, he pulled her towards him while Marga, who was completely lost and confused, remained frozen in place. “Was he the reason you dispatched your warrior to the north? To silence him?”
“N–no, what are you talking about? I send them to keep an eye on Serena,” she answered, determined not to give in or admit her deception.
“Stop lying, Emilia. You sent them to get rid of me.” Mathias interrupted as he approached them. He thought, his resolve would falter once he saw his first and greatest love again, along with his daughter but surprisingly, his instinct to survive was stronger than his attachment to the past. “Just tell your husband the truth, that you asked me to spend the night with you before he marked you.”
“I don’t know what you’re saying! Stop ruining my family-” The sharp crack of Alpha Robert’s hand connecting with Luna Emilia’s delicate cheek reverberated throughout the room, causing everyone to gasp in shock. Hands flew to cover gaping mouths, mirroring the reaction of Marga who watched on in horror,
Meanwhile, Serena and Alpha Perez stood on the sidelines, silently observing the drama unfold before them with a sense of twisted enjoyment.
“Just fucking tell the truth! Was Marga my daughter or not?!” Alpha Robert’s sudden shout made Marga jump in fear. Her mother let out a shriek and covered her mouth, trying to muffle the painful cries escaping her lips.
Even though Marga felt confused and lost by witnessing her mother’s betrayal, she dared not speak a word. Not only she was scared of her father but also because she couldn’t process any more information at the moment.
Revealing secrets one after the other was something Marga couldn’t imagine ever being forced to endure, but she also couldn’t bring herself to leave. After all, she wanted to know the truth about her birth, despite the discomfort it may bring. The pain and shame of being born out of wedlock had become too heavy a burden to bear, yet she stood there, waiting for

the truth to be revealed.
“Emilia, stop crying for Pete’s sake and answer me! Was Marga my daughter or not-”

“No!” Luna Emilia reached her breaking point; she could not endure it any longer, causing shock to those who were present. As much as she tried to conceal the truth, she knew it would eventually be exposed. Lies do not remain hidden forever. She pressed her lips together and watched her husband’s grip loosen on her arm, his expression filled with feelings of betrayal and animosity towards her.
“I–I’m sorry for deceiving you. Please forgive me.” She fell to her knees, clutching her husband’s pants, but Alpha Robert pushed her away. He then stepped back, his anger simmering under his skin with each step he took.
“Absolutely not, I could never forgive you. Your actions caused me to mistreat Serena and to waste valuable time and effort on someone who is not truly my daughter!” He clenched his jaw facing Serena with a hint of remorse in his eyes that she couldn’t help but feel guilty for. He then gave her a small smile before shifting his focus to Luna Emilia, his expression hardening “Effective immediately, you and Marga shall no longer be considered members of this family as I am banishing both of you from the pack.”
mate and Luna!” He concluded, causing Luna “And I, Robert Montevar of Crescent Pack, reject you, Emilia Stanford, as my Emilia, and Marga to scream and cry in terror as the warriors closed in on them. “Now, get out of my sight, I want nothing more to do with you.”
