Chapter 42
THE DAY’S flew by in a blur, and soon Serena and Alpha Perez were back at the Blood Moon packhouse after their brief honeymoon. Their one–week getaway was full of joy and exciting adventures, but they also faced some danger along the way. Despite these challenges, their bond only grew stronger, with Serena becoming more attached to him and discovering new aspects of Alpha Perez’s personality.
“Welcome back,” The servants and other high–ranking members all spoke in unison as soon as they arrived. Serena smiled and expressed her gratitude before embracing Priscilla, who had been eagerly awaiting her return.
“How’s Mathias?” Alpha Perez asked his beta as they strolled inside the house, signaling the servants to disperse and resume their daily tasks.
“He was staying in the guestroom at the annex, under Taylor’s personal protection. He had been visibly shaken since his arrival and refused to leave his room. It was clear that he had experienced some kind of trauma.” Beta Jarren answered, “But who is he really? You didn’t tell me why he requires our protection.”
Curiosity gnawed at Jarren as he recalled the instructions from Alpha Perez. All he had been told was to pick up someone at a specific location and keep him safe. No further explanation was given about this person, Mathias, or why he needed protection. Although Jarren could have asked Mathias directly, he chose to wait for the Alpha to explain the situation himself.
“He was Marga’s biological father, and he had been in danger because Luna Emilia was on the hunt for him,” Perez answered, causing Beta Jarren’s eyes to widen in shock as they walked upstairs. He paused for a moment and glanced back at Luna Serena, who was engrossed in conversation with Priscilla. But then he shifted his gaze back to his Alpha, leaning in
closer.
“What? What do you mean?”
“I’ll tell you once we’re alone,” he replied and when they reached upstairs, Serena politely excused herself, mentioning she wanted to spend time with Priscilla. Alpha Perez nodded with a smile on his face, glad at how her wife and sister was getting along. After that, he walked into his office with his Beta, ready to brief him on all the details about Mathias.
“Marga wasn’t Alpha Robert’s. She was illegitimate,” he explained simply as soon as he settled on his chair, causing Beta Jarren to touch his chin while sitting on the sofa, staring at
his friend with disbelief written all over his expression.
“Damn, that sure was unexpected.” He commented, not expecting to hear such scandalous information.
“Right?” Alpha Perez scoffed and proceeded to detail their encounter with Mathias and discuss the plan that he and Serena had discussed.
“Oh, then I guessed the Luna’s right. There was an invitation that arrived in yesterday’s mail. It was sitting on her desk-” Beta Jarren’s sentence was cut short by a sudden knock on the door. They shared a knowing look, both aware of who it must be. Without hesitation, Alpha Perez granted them permission to enter.
Serena then opened the door, and Priscilla followed closely behind, holding a bright red envelope in her hand. The envelope on her study desk was instantly recognizable, bearing the familiar seal of her family. She didn’t even need to open it to know who it was from. But still, she opened it, and the contents brought a smile to her face, causing her to want to share the news with her husband immediately.
“We were invited to my father’s birthday next week,” Serena announced, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and anticipation.
“Yeah, Jarren just told me that an invitation came yesterday…” he said with a nod, “Then I guessed we’ll leave again next week.”

you said you would look into the situation with the rogues who have been infected by the virus spreading in the north.” Serena took a seat opposite Beta Jarren, with Priscilla sitting next to him, both looking bewildered.

“Huh? What virus? Was it the one spreading on the capital?” Priscilla’s brow furrowed. Ever since she and Jarren had taken on the responsibilities of leading, they had been hearing reports of rogue wolves infected with a mysterious virus.
It was first reported in the capital, and rumors were circulating that the Alpha King was taking measures to contain it. However, learning that the virus had already reached the northern territories came as a shock to the couple.
“Serena and I ran into four of them. They were more aggressive than the regular rogues, and my aura had no effect on them. This is why we must contain it before it spreads; it’s too risky to let it continue unchecked.” Alpha Perez replied as he leaned on his desk, “My wife and I have a banquet to attend, so I will begin taking care of this matter today and leave it to you to finish before we leave.”
“The banquet was an important event, so we can’t miss it.” He added, causing the couple to nod their heads, understanding what their Alpha was asking them to do.
“But why was the banquet significant? Hadn’t they already made it clear that my sister–in–law was not welcome in their pack?” Priscilla’s raised eyebrow prompted a silent conversation between Serena and Alpha Perez. It was as if they were communicating through their eyes, seamlessly understanding each other without speaking or using mind link.
A silence stretched between them, lasting for a few seconds until Serena turned away and looked at her sister–in–law. Priscilla’s expression was a mix of confusion and curiosity as she tried to make sense of the situation.
“The warrior that arrived here last week was actually the biological father of my sister, Marga,” she began, shocked evident on Priscilla’s face, “It is necessary for us to go to the banquet because I intend to seek revenge by exposing that secret to everyone in attendance.”

“I wanted to make sure that a white lotus like Marga was not suitable to be the Luna of Crescent Pack. Neither she nor Calix deserved to lead because they were both worthless trashes.”
