Chapter 39
THE ATMOSPHERE in Matia’s house was tense and heavy, filled with an uncomfortable silence. Serena and Perez sat side by side, facing Matias as he nervously clasped his hands together. Though the house was rundown, he still welcomed them inside to discuss what he had just revealed.
“So, are you saying that Marga was a bastard?” Alpha Perez asked in a serious tone. He then crossed his arms and legs while giving him a hard stare. It was clear that he meant business and had no patience for wasting time.
“T–that’s right,” Matias answered nervously, the Alpha’s aura becoming more intimidating and dangerous by the second, “Emilia had already tied the knot with Robert when we had a physical encounter. We then began meeting in secret for several weeks before we ended things the next day after she had been marked by her husband.”
“Before we parted ways, she was already showing signs of pregnancy. And when I saw the news that she gave birth months later, that’s when I knew for sure that I was the child’s biological father.”
His statement caused Serena’s eyes to narrow as her mind raced through countless scenarios of what would happen if this secret was revealed and how everyone involved would react. While she knew her mother and Marga’s reactions would be priceless, she couldn’t help but feel sympathy for the victim of this secret–her own father.
He may not have been a perfect father figure, but compared to her mother, Alpha Robert was the better parent. Reflecting on their past, it was clear that all of his choices were heavily influenced by Luna Emilia.
No wonder why her mother loved Marga so much, it was because she
was the result of Luna Emilia and Mathias‘ love for each other.
“Were you and my mother genuinely in love? tell me about more of your relationship.” Serena said, wanting to know about her mother’s past.
“Emilia and I first crossed paths on her coming–of–age celebration. Although we were not destined mates, we fell deeply in love with each other, but our romance had to remain hidden since she was the alpha’s daughter while I was simply a warrior from a neighboring pack.” Matias began, recalling all the memories with Emilia.
Waiting inside the forest for her was a routine for him, their secret dates filled with love and sincerity. They even talked about eloping from their pack to get married and be together forever. But one day, Emilia stopped showing up at their usual meeting spot. He waited for her for what felt like an eternity; days turned into weeks, then months. Until one day, news of her marriage to another Alpha’s son reached him, crushing his heart in an instant.
He felt shattered and heartbroken, but then she suddenly appeared again. They had a heated argument, but Emilia revealed that her father discovered their relationship, which resulted in her being confined. When her mother’s birthday arrived, Emilia met her destined mate, Alpha Robert. Without hesitation, their parents quickly arranged for their marriage.
Despite the initial tension and hurt, Mathias eventually forgave Emilia after she explained everything. They ended up having a final night together before breaking off their relationship, as Emilia wanted to spend one more intimate moment with him before being marked by Alpha Robert. After that, they never saw each other again because Mathias left their pack and headed North to start afresh.
“I met my fated mate here and ended up getting married, too,” Mathias said with a bitter smile on his face, “However, I can’t seem to move on from Emilia so, my wife ended up divorcing me and taking our child with her.”
Serena was stunned, the details of the story were startling, yet she couldn’t help but feel empathy for all those involved. However, this newfound information could be used against her mother and Marga. Their situation was tragic, but it was important for the truth to be revealed. After all, her father can’t continue living a lie forever. Besides, this truth would be her half–sister and mother’s karma for all the things they have done to her.
“Is there a reason why you decided to reveal the truth to me?” Serena asked, recalling the way he had approached her earlier, looking as if he was in a state of panic. “You know, my mother and your daughter won’t benefit from this.”

“I–I know, but I wanted the truth to come out before I die.” Mathias held his head in despair, feeling completely devastated by the situation he found himself in.
“Why are you going to die? Are you sick?” Alpha Perez arched an eyebrow, noticing the anxious and troubled expression on the warrior sitting in front of them.
“N–no,” He shook his head, “I think Emilia has been looking for me some warrior of their pack roaming around

“What?” Serena frowned.
“Hmm, I see,” Alpha Perez nodded in comprehension as he rubbed his chin, fully grasping the situation at hand. “It’s either she was searching for you to reunite with you, or maybe she was attempting to silence you before Marga would soon take over as the Luna of Crescent Pack.”
“I–it was the latter,” Mathias muttered, confirming what he feared. “Although Emilia may have once had feelings for me, she was a selfish woman. I’m certain that she would go to great lengths to ensure that the truth about Marga’s birth doesn’t jeopardize her reputation as the Luna of their pack.”
“Right, knowing my mother, she would never want this secret to be revealed, not even to Marga.” Serena nodded, her mind swirling with conflicting thoughts. It had only been a day since she found out about the relationship between Cesare and Marga, and now she was learning that her mother had been keeping a big secret that would undoubtedly impact not only her own life and reputation but also Marga’s.
“But wait, did Emilia know that you were aware of being Marga’s biological father?”
Alpha Perez questioned; his eyebrows furrowed slightly.
“Probably, because I sent her a letter after I found out that Marga had gone missing. I asked about our daughter’s whereabouts, but never received a response from her.” Mathias spoke in a grave tone, visibly upset by the situation. He never planned on reaching out to Emilia all those years ago, but a small part of him held onto the hope that he would one day meet his daughter with her. After all, Marga was a product of their love.
“If that was the case, then we need to protect you,” Serena said before gazing at Alpha Perez and gently resting her hand on his thigh. “Let’s hide him at the pack house, we will need his help in the future,”
Alpha Perez nodded, fully understanding what was going through her wife’s mind. He smiled and reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers before turning his gaze back to Mathias, who seemed perplexed by their exchange.
“Pack your things and make sure you won’t get caught by Emilia’s warrior. Tomorrow, my gamma will come and escort you to the Blood Moon pack. You will be under our protection, but in return, we will use you as evidence in the future, what do you say?” The question hung in the air, giving Mathias a chance to decline if he wanted. But with his life on the line and a strong desire to keep living, he didn’t hesitate to nod in agreement.
“I agree. Thank you both for helping me,”
With those words, their conversation came to a close. Serena and Alpha Perez moved on with their tasks, but Serena couldn’t fully concentrate. After all, her thoughts were consumed by the shocking information she had just learned about her family.
Before she knew it, they had arrived back at the hotel, and it suddenly hit her that she had been in a daze for the entire day. Feeling guilty, she embraced Alpha Perez, causing him to be taken aback.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, hugging her back and caressing her hair.
“I’m sorry, it seemed I spoiled the mood of our trip today because I was distracted…”
Serena let out a sigh in response, feeling remorseful that they couldn’t accomplish much today. They even ended up going back to the hotel than intended because her mind was preoccupied with other things.

“There’s no need to worry, I completely understand. Given the new information you’ve discovered, it’s probably difficult to stop thinking about it.” A smile formed on his lips as he gently lifted her chin to meet his gaze. He then leaned in and planted a soft kiss on her forehead, causing Serena’s heart to skip a beat. “How about making up for it?”
“How? I’ll do anything,” she said, determined to make it up to him, but her nerves kicked in when she saw the sly grin spreading across his face. “W–what is it?”
“We were on our honeymoon, so make love to me.”
