“TAKE CARE of things here while we’re away. We will return in a week.” Alpha Perez reminded Beta Jarren, Gamma Taylor, and Priscilla as the butler loaded their suitcase into the car behind him.
“Don’t worry about the pack, and just enjoy your honeymoon.” His sister said, looking at Serena who was standing beside
him.
“Is it even fair to label their trip a honeymoon if they were planning on touring the northern region instead of going abroad to unwind?”
Beta Jarren remarked, wishing that his friend would actually take a vacation. After all, Alpha Perez rarely allowed himself any breaks since taking on the role of pack leader. He always prioritized taking care of everyone else before himself.
“Serena felt guilty about taking a vacation right after becoming the Luna, so I suggested we go on a tour of the northern region instead.” Alpha Perez responded, his arms encircling her waist, “We’ll definitely have some downtime and explore some exciting destinations during our trip; it won’t be all hard work. I’m just going to introduce her to the packs we’ve conquered.”
“Well, as long as you enjoy, that was all that matters.” Gamma Taylor shrugged, “Hope you’ll have a good time, newlyweds. “Don’t worry about a thing while you’re away, we’ll make sure everything is in good hands.”
“All right, thank you.” Alpha Perez said before pulling Serena by the waist, “Let’s go.”
She nodded and waved goodbye to the three before getting on the passenger seat when Alpha Perez opened it for her. When he closed the door and started walking to his side of the car, she glanced at him and couldn’t help but notice that Calix had never shown this level of chivalry towards her.
“Where are we going first?” Serena asked as soon he turned on the engine.
“Let’s go to the hotel first, I made a reservation. We can stay there for a while then head to the smallest pack under my jurisdiction.” He replied as the car gradually started moving. “It will take us about an hour, so if you want to take a nap, you can do it.”
“No, I’m fine. I’d rather talk to you.” Serena’s words caught Alpha Perez’s attention for a brief moment before he refocused on the road as they drove past the gate of the pack house.
“Hmm, what is it that you want to talk about?”
“I wasn’t sure if you were aware, but Priscilla confided a secret about your pack to me,” she responded, taking in the sight of the towering trees that lined the roads and the endless blue sky above. It was a stunning day, making it the perfect time to embark on a journey.
“Is this about the Alpha King being responsible for my father’s murder?” Alpha Perez’s question made Serena turn to him, a bit of surprise etched on her face, “She already informed me that she had discussed it with you, and I do not have any objections about it.”
“I see, I was just wondering if the Alpha King would make his move now that you’re married.” she pondered, remembering how the Alpha King’s gaze lingered on her during their conversations at the celebratory banquet and wedding reception. There was something about the way he looked at her that made her feel uneasy as if he had plans involving her.
She couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was, but it left her with a sense of unease.
Apart from that, the way he is nice to her reminds her of those individuals who only treat someone kindly when they deem them to be of value.
“I have no doubt that he would take some kind of action. He might put on a façade, pretending to be happy for us, but I’m sure deep down he was frustrated that his scheme of putting a member in my pack who can spy on me didn’t work out as

planned.” Alpha Perez responded, his hands clenching around the steering wheel.

“He may attempt to sway your allegiance, so if he ever offers you an invitation to the palace or any other occasion, please don’t ever trust him and give in to whatever he asks of you.”
“Of course, that goes without saying.” Serena said without hesitation, “Not only are you my Alpha, whom I must remain loyal to, but you are also my husband and mate. Our marriage may have started as a contract, but that does not change the alliance we share in our personal battle and goals.”
Alpha Perez smiled, comforted by her promise to stay loyal and not betray him. It gave him a sense of security knowing that Serena would always stand by his side, no matter what may come
The ride was long and filled with animated conversation, mostly revolving around the facts and figures of territories and packs that had been conquered. While some may find this kind of talk dull, Serena was captivated by the new information being shared.
She eagerly absorbed every detail about the pack’s history, their current holdings, and the lands they now controlled. It was like unraveling a mystery, piece by piece, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement at the thought of being a part of it all.
After arriving at the hotel, they took a short break before heading to the restaurant for lunch. As soon as they entered, they were recognized by other guests and congratulated on their wedding, which had been featured as the main headline in newspapers and news sources.
Serena found herself smiling the whole meal, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of joy and satisfaction as she received positive attention from the people around her.
She was concerned that some people might still think she had an affair with Perez, but thankfully, it appeared that the rumor had completely disappeared after Calix and Marga got married
“FUCK!” Marga angrily threw the newspaper across the room when she saw that Serena had married Alpha Perez. She couldn’t help but feel irritated as she saw photos of their beautiful wedding, with guests from various packs and even the King in attendance. It was a stark contrast to her own wedding, which only had members from the Crescent and Moon Fall pack present.
Since her relationship with Calix was deemed scandalous, Alpha Robert denied her and her mother’s request to have a grand ceremony, saying the news of their marriage might impact the pack’s reputation badly. They even attempted to keep the ceremony a secret, but somehow word still spread, and people began to gossip about it.
Luna Emilia, of course, took action. She attempted to protect Marga’s reputation by shifting the blame onto Serena for not being a good wife or for whatever reason. However, her efforts were in vain as it was still a serious offense to have an affair with your sister’s mate and even bear his child. Regardless of how they tried to spin it, the truth remained unchanged.
“What’s wrong?” Calix’s brows furrowed in concern as he noticed the rage seething behind Marga’s eyes, her hand resting protectively on her belly which was growing bigger by the day.
She refused to answer his question and turned away; her annoyance evident. Calix just let out a sigh and glanced down at his feet when he heard the sound of paper crinkling under his shoe, his eyes widening as he saw the image of Serena wearing a beautiful and ethereal gown while locked in a passionate kiss with Alpha Perez, adorned in elegant tuxedo.
His heart ached painfully, uncertain of why he would feel such intense emotion when he was the one who had destroyed their relationship. He gripped his fist tightly as he regretted his choices in life, especially now that Marga’s true color was revealing itself. She used to be loving and kind to him, but ever since Serena left the pack and found success on her own, Marga had become distant and apathetic towards him
Because of that, he couldn’t shake the thought that maybe Marga didn’t truly love him and was only using him to take everything away from Serena. Despite his doubts, he never confronted her about it. After all, she was carrying his child and this was his second marriage, which he couldn’t afford to ruin like the first one.
His reputation had already suffered a blow, disappointing his parents greatly. He couldn’t afford to make another mistake, or

he would never be able to show his face again to those who knew him. Even worse, he wouldn’t be able to meet the gaze of his in–laws and family because of shame.
“Why are you here?” Marga’s voice jolted him back to the present, making him realize that he had been staring blankly at the newspaper. He blinked and turned towards her, seeing her raised eyebrow and annoyed expression. Calix brushed it off, assuming it was her pregnancy making her act like a bitch.
“Your father has been trying to reach you through mind–link, but since you haven’t been responding, he asked me to relay the message instead,” he replied, casually tossing the newspaper into the trash before walking over to where she was sitting near the window. He knew what he was about to say would ruin her mood even more, but he had no choice but to deliver it.
“What does he want?” Marga asked, still upset with her father for being so tough on her lately. She couldn’t help but wonder if he was starting to regret his treatment of Serena because her name seemed to come up often in his conversations since they returned home from the celebratory banquet–it was getting annoying.
“His birthday is approaching, and he wanted you and Luna Emilia to plan and coordinate the celebration…” Calix trailed off, glancing at the newspaper he had just tossed into the trash can before turning his attention to Marga again, “He specifically ordered to invite Serena and Alpha Perez to the event.”
