Chapter 30
“WHAT THE HELL, Serena muttered as soon as she caught sight of Calix approaching them. Alpha Perez could feel the tension and anger emanating from Calix’s direction, causing him to quickly stand up before he reached Serena.
Cesare, who was following his brother, stepped forward to restrals him from taking aggressive action. The three of them stood in a tense standoff, their body language speaking volume about the tension and animosity between them.
“Calix, don’t. Don’t act foolishly!” he warned his younger brother holding him firmly by his upper arm to prevent him from reaching out and attacking Serena. “Do you have any idea who she was with? If he wanted to, he could easily end your life right now and here.”
Cesare spoke in a low, tense voice. Despite appearing kind around Serena, Alpha Perez was actually very different. He was a dangerous and unpredictable person; Cesare had seen his true nature during the war when he mercilessly tore apart their
enemies.
And when it came to protecting Serena’s reputation, he didn’t hesitate to silence any warriors who dared to speak ill of her inability to shift. His voice when he threatened them was undoubtedly different from the one he used when talking to
Serena.
“What’s your deal? Are you going to cause a scene here too?” Serena’s expression darkened as she glared at Calix, who downed the remaining contents of his glass and slammed it back onto their table. The other customers took notice of the disturbance and watched Calix with cautious eyes.
“You fucking bitch, don’t act innocent, I know you cheat- Before Calix could finish her sentence, there was a strong push against his chest that sent him hurtling backward. Cesare was shocked by the sudden movement and looked over at his younger brother, who was now lying on the ground.
“P–perez.” Serena rushed towards him, placing her hands on his chest to halt his movements. She shook her head, silently begging him not to engage with her ex–husband any further, who was obviously drunk. She didn’t want the other guests to witness Alpha Perez’s uncontrolled actions and think poorly of him.
He let out a deep sigh, running his hand through his hair as he watched Cesare assist his intoxicated brother to stand up straight.
“Get the bastard out of my sight if you don’t want to see him lying in a pool of his own blood,” Alpha Perez emitted a low, menacing growl that sent a shiver up Serena’s spine. The other guests in the room also felt the intensity of his murderous intent and quickly looked away, not wanting to be caught in its path
Cesare’s heart hammered in his chest as he heard the command Without hesitation, he grabbed his younger brother’s hand and pulled him out of the dimly lit bar. The cold air hit them like a slap in the face, but Cesare ignored it.
He pushed his brother against the rough brick wall, his strong hands gripping his collar tightly and pinning him in place. His eyes bore into his brother’s, filled with a mixture of anger and fear.
“You idiot, you could have died! He only pushed you and you went flying. What do you think would have happened if he actually punched you or worse shifted into his wolf?” he scolded angrily, his eyes flashing with barely contained fury
Meanwhile, as she settled back into her seat, Serena glanced over at Alpha Perez. He had finished his drink and now looked serious and dangerous, a side of him she had never seen before. She couldn’t help but feel uneasy, as she was used to seeing him as gentle whenever they were together.
Little did Serena know, the true nature of Alpha Perez was anything but gentle. While he displayed kindness and care towards his people and towards her, his inner self was a force to be reckoned with. His ruthlessness knew no bounds, and his cold demeanor sent shivers down anyone’s spine. He also held the power to end someone’s life without a second thought.
As she sat
across from him, Serena could feel the weight of his presence and knew not to underestimate him.
Sorry, are you scared of me now?” he asked, noticing the unease that she was trying not to show but failed terribly.

“Scared? More of surprised because it was my first time seeing that dark side of you” Serena said honestly, feeling the frying eyes around them. “Anyway, shall we call it a night? The way people are staring at us is making me uncomfortable.”
“All right, I’m sorry I ruined-
“There’s no need to keep apologizing. You were just trying to protect me, and it wasn’t your fault. If Calix hadn’t approached us, we could have enjoyed ourselves more, but he ruined our night”
She stood up and took hold of Alpha Perez’s hand, causing him to catch his breath at the unexpected gesture and the warmth radiating from her delicate fingers. Still, he smiled and laid down some cash on the table before letting her guide him out of the bar.
As they stood in front of their respective doors, Serena reluctantly released his hand, causing Alpha Perez to suddenly feel a sense of emptiness without her touch. He wanted to hold onto her for just a little longer, but it was already late in the evening, and they had to return to the north tomorrow morning
“Good night,” they both said in unison, causing them to smile. When they entered their separate rooms, Serena hesitated to close the door and gazed at him for a moment longer.
“What’s wrong?” he chuckled, holding the doorknob.
“I just wanted to thank you. Despite everything that happened, jhad a good time.” Serena smiled shyly, “Good night, Perez.” After shutting the door, she prepared for bed and drank some water.
Since she drank a significant amount of alcohol, she quickly dozed off, too tired to dwell on Calix’s behavior from earlier. The next day, Serena woke up feeling well–rested, but her mind drifted back to the events of last night. However, she tried her best not to waste her time thinking about it.
As she got dressed and prepared to leave for the trip back to the north, she couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed that their short time together had come to an end. She wished they could stay one more day in the capital to have a date.
“Huh?” Serena stopped mid–stroke while applying her lipstick, surprised by her own thoughts. Was it because she wanted to relax and let loose, or did she genuinely like the idea of spending time with Alpha Perez because she was starting to develop some feelings for him?
“Nah, no way.” she shook her head and finished getting ready until she heard the sound of the doorbell ring.
“Are you ready to go? We have to hurry to catch the train.” Alpha Perez uttered as soon as she unlocked the door. She seemed disoriented for a split second, but she quickly composed herself.
“I’m ready to go.” She smiled before scanning the room one last time, ensuring she hadn’t forgotten anything. Satisfied, she grabbed her suitcase and Alpha Perez offered to help her carry it outside.
Together, they made their way to the cab that would take them to the station.
“When we return home, can we begin discussing our wedding plans?” he asked as they settled on the seal in the private compartment. Serena turned her head away from the window to face him and nodded in response.
“I don’t mind, but what type of wedding are we planning? Will it be lavish or more low–key?”
“In my opinion, I want the ceremony to be magnificent. Whether our marriage was contractual or not, I envision our wedding as the most spectacular and sincere event for all to witness.”
Serena was taken aback when Alpha Perez replied, his determination evident in his words. She hadn’t anticipated such strong feelings from him, especially since their relationship began with a shared goal of preventing the King from sending unmated she–wolves to his pack.

But now that he had revealed his true feelings for her and the nature of his proposal, he appeared to have no intention of holding back any longer.
“Don’t worry about the budget, I’ll take care of everything. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do at your first wedding but couldn’t, you’re free to make it happen now.”
Serena’s eyes widened in surprise as she took in his words. This conversation was a sudden turn of events, but an exhilarating one nonetheless. After all, her wedding with Calix had been anything but grand. It was a simple affair, as her mother had refused to provide the budget needed to make it happen.
Though she wasn’t the type to be extravagant, Serena had always dreamed of a fairytale wedding, where every surface was adorned with delicate flowers and twinkling fairy lights danced above their heads. The sweet melodies of a live orchestra would fill the air at the reception while magnificent fireworks burst in the night sky at the end.
The thought of it possibly happening at his second wedding excited her.
“Why are you staring at me like that?” Alpha Perez couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of her blushing cheeks and twinkling eyes.
“Oh sorry,” Serena let out a shy laugh and playfully touched her cheeks, trying to contain her smile, “The thought of planning my second wedding filled me with more excitement than I had anticipated.”
