SERENA couldn’t help but sigh as she settled in the backseat while wiping away her tears. Her gaze never left the windows as she watched the scenery pass past her. The image of Marga mocking her with a smile still lingered in her mind. Shei even do anything to her, she even wanted to get along with her hot why would she deliberately take her husband’s attention and show off” It was as though Marga was proud that Calix was paying more attention to her than he was to her.
“Fuck. I expected to be completely isolated, but I didn’t see it coming that my husband would do the same as everyone else,” Serena mumbled, massaging her temples in frustration as she shot her eyes tightly.
Not even one of her family or pack members had taken the time to see her off, proof that no one cared for her except Annie
Serena was scared of what might happen while she was gone, and just thinking about all the possibilities made her eyes sting again, but this time, she tried her best not to break into sols. Instead, she gathered all her courage to face what was awaiting her ahead. She needed to have her focus straight, no matter how painful her heart was going through.
And so the relentless training at the palace was her only escape from the negative thoughts that consumed her. With every minute and every ounce of effort, she poured herself into becoming stronger. She set her heart, soul, and mind into the war because that was what she needed to survive.
But she was unaware that despite all her efforts to survive, it would ultimately crumble, especially when confronted with death in front of her.
The deafening roars and bursts of gunfire echoed in Serena’s ears as she fought in the midst of the battle. It had been a grueling five months since they launched an attack on the border, trying to take back the land that had been conquered seven years ago by their neighboring country. Every day was filled with tension and fear for Serena, knowing that at any moment something terrible could happen to her and she might not survive it
However, seeing how strong their forces were, gave her a glimmer of hope but it didn’t last long when she felt a sharp agonizing pain run through her body, ripping her apart and making the world blur while she was fighting and defending herself from the enemy wolves. The gun she held tightly slipped from her grasp, sending her tumbling to the ground in agony. She then hugged her stomach, trying to muffle the screams escaping from her mouth.
It was a new sensation for her, but she recognized it all too well, this pain in her chest meant only one thing–her husband Calix was mating with another woman. She covered her mouth, hearing her heart shattering along with the howls and chaos going on around her
“Urghh!” She groaned and clutched her stomach when another wave of pain shot through her, causing her to kneel down on the ground. Tears streamed down her face, but then her eyes widened in fear when she spotted a massive wolf heading towards her. At that moment, all of her will to live drained from her body.
The realization that she was here fighting for her life while her husband was off having an affair was too much for her to
bear.
With a deep breath, she shut her eyes and braced herself for the imminent attack from the massive wolf that was closing on her. But instead of feeling sharp teeth and claws ripping through her, she heard a loud whimper that made her open

surprise, a man with a large stature stood before her, his back turned to her, but she could see his tanned, tattooed muscular arms as he choked one of the attacking wolves effortlessly. He then flung it away as if it were nothing more that a small object before he slowly turned to face her.
The intense pain that had engulfed her just moments ago began to fade as she gasped, taken aback by the sight of the man standing before her. His amber–golden eyes appeared to glow in the moonlight as he gazed at her. For a moment, she felt small in comparison to his tall figure, until he lowered himself and reached out a hand to help her up.
“I’ll take you back to the base,” he said, his voice deep and rougis causing goosebumps to rise over Serena’s skin. She pursed her lips and nodded, letting him grab her wrist and pull her up while keeping his strong arm wrapped around her waist. He then led her to his horse, lifting her and putting her up onto the saddle before he quickly mounted and spurred his horse

“I–is it okay to leave just like that?” she stammered, somehow snapping from her shock.
“It’s fine, they all can handle it themselves,” He assured her, glancing back at the battlefield once more before he finally looked ahead. “Why didn’t you try to save yourself earlier? Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
“That’s right,” Serena admitted honestly as she looked down, gripping her pants all the while stopping herself from crying. “I had been managing well before, fighting off the enemies with all my might… But the pain of my mate having sex with another woman made me lose focus. I thought, I should just die and-
“I’m disappointed,” she flinched as she felt his hot breath on her ear, sending goosebumps racing across her skin. “You can’t just give up because of that. If your mate was doing such a thing while you were out here fighting, use it as motivation to return home and slap some sense into him.”
A shiver ran down Serena’s spine as the man’s fingers delicately traced along her chin. She was taken aback by his sudden movement, her body tensing up in response. Especially when he gently but firmly guided her to face him, his piercing eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her heart race.

But at that moment, all she could focus on were his mesmerizing eyes and the rapid beating of her heart against her chest.
“I’m suggesting that he should experience the same suffering you went through. I’m willing to give myself to you. Use my body.”
“No, I don’t need it.” Serena averted her eyes from him, utterly flabbergasted by his outrageous suggestions. “Even if my husband was cheating on me, it goes against my moral code to reciprocate. Besides, I don’t even know you.”
“I’m Perez Evara.” He gave a nonchalant introduction, causing Serena’s eyes to widen in disbelief. For a moment, she forgot how to breathe, her whole existence suddenly changed in the presence of the most dominant Alpha she ever met,
“P–Perez Evara?” She repeated, turning her gaze back to him in slow motion. Now that she thought about it, his tattoo seemed familiar to her. She remembered hearing about a pack in the North whose members all bore similar tattoos, with their leader known as the Alpha of Alpha’s in the North. Rumors were even circulating that he was attempting to conquer other regions and take control, putting the position of the Alpha King at risk.
And now, that very individual was before her eyes.
“W–why are you here?”
“Why else? To help with the war?” he asked, arching an eyebrow at her question.
Serena was about to respond when the intense pain that reminded her of her husband’s betrayal surged through her body again. This time, it was unbearable.
Perez gritted his teeth and urged his horse into a fast gallop. He wrapped one arm around Serena to keep her steady as she passed out. Honestly, he had no intention of coming all the way here from the north and partaking in the war he had refused already, but when news–reached his ears that Serena was here, he quickly sent a word to the Alpha King that he would lend a hand.
However, he never imagined that the first time he would see her again after years would be the sight of her, giving up on life.

It was unacceptable, especially knowing that her unfaithful husband was the cause of her pain. If he had known she would be in such a miserable state with her mate, he would have pursued her as soon as he laid his eyes on her five years ago.
“Well, maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Now, I have the chance to make you mine,” he muttered to himself, securing her tightly in his arms before he continued to gallop at full speed, ensuring her safety. “I will do whatever it takes to claim you as my mate.”
