Chapter 19
THE WARM RAY’S of sunlight peeked through the curtains and gently illuminated Serena’s sleeping form as she shifted and stirred on the bed. It was her first morning at the Red Moon Pack, and for some reason, she felt more rested and rejuvenated than she had in a long time when waking up.
Her eyes fluttered open and she was met with the sight of Perez lying next to her. She could feel his warm breath on her neck, and his arms were wrapped tightly around her. It took her few moments to realize that she wasn’t alone in bed. Gradually, she began to remember the events of the previous night where they discussed and signed the contract before returning to the banquet.
After that, she had a few too many drinks, and Alpha Perez kitully escorted her to her room. However, she stopped him from leaving and insisted on hearing more about his pack. As she listened, she began to sober up but found herself getting lost in his captivating gare. They were so close to kissing, but she fell asleep just as their lips were about to meet.
“Good morning” Serena was taken aback by the sound of his deep voice. She quickly shook herself out of her thoughts and turned to face him, putting on a forced smile to conceal her blushing cheeks.
“G–good morning. Alpha She returned the greeting and watched as he sat up, stretching his muscled arms above his head.
“Why so formal? Just call me by my name, Alpha Perez turned to face her and gently tucked the loose strands of hair behind her ear. It wasn’t a new experience for lum to wake up and see her there, but he was still entranced by her beauty Her delicate pink lips were slightly parted, causing him to linger on them longer than he intended.
He wanted to pick up where they had left off, but he quickly snapped out of it when she spoke again.
“What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?” Serena gently touched her face, trying to will away the heat rising in her cheeks from his intense gaze on her lips. She didn’t want things to become awkward, so she played it cool and acted oblivious
She was torn between feeling flattered and self–conscious now that she knew his actions were fueled by his attraction towards her. Part of her wanted to embrace it, but another part couldn’t help but feel scared that she might fall for him.
“No, nothing” Alpha Perez chuckled as he rose from the bed and stretched his back, showing off his well–defined muscles which made Serena appreciate his strong build as she watched him. “Do you mind if I open the curtain already?”
“Uhm no,” she shook her head and got up too, straightening the sheets as the sun flooded the room with brightness. Then it, finally hit her that this was now her new home. From now on, she would wake up in this room and share her life with the man in front of her, the one she would soon marry once her divorce from Calix was finalized.
“Freshen up and come down to the dining so we could have breakfast together. After that, my sister will take you on a tour of the packhouse so you can get to know your new home.” Alpha Perez informed her, and Serena nodded in response. smiling at how warm the word ‘new home‘ sounded in his tone.
After a short while, he left the bedroom and Serena headed to the bathroom to quickly freshen up and change into a simple white dress. She then came out of her room and went downstairs, where she was warmly greeted by the maids who were already busy with their duties. She returned their greetings with smile before making her way straight to the dining hall.
“Good morning.” She timidly stepped into the room and saw that Beta, Gamma, Priscilla, and Alpha Perez were already sitting at the breakfast table, ready to share a meal together,
“Good morning!” all three chorused and gave Serena smiles as she made her way to the table and sat beside the empty seat next to Priscilla and the Alpha who was seated at the end of the table,
“Did you manage to get some rest?” Priscilla inquired, as the maid poured hot tea into their cups.
“Yes, it was the first time I woke up feeling refreshed honestly. Its been a while since I’ve slept well.” Serena answered because even though she had gotten plenty of sleep in the past few days, she still felt exhausted. But today was completely different. “Perhaps because of the weather and the fact that I was welcomed with so much warmth. I felt safe and protected”

Priscilla similed softly arthai,
“I’m happy to hear that. You see, our pack is full of love, everyone here knows how to make people feel welcome and comfortable,” she said with pride, trying to reassure Serena and make her feel comfortable. After all, everyone at the table knew about her past life at her family’s estate.
“I could see that,” Serena smiled before they began eating breakfast and continued to learn more about each other.
To Serena’s surprise, none of them had found their mates yet. She also discovered that the reason Alpha Perez suddenly left the war was to protect his pack from sudden rogue attacks. Currently, they are working hard to fortify their borders after a recent attack almost caused them significant losses.
“Does rogues attacks happened here frequently?” Serena asked, curious because she read it somewhere that north was home to many dangerous rogues.
“Before, yes, but we had resolved the issue of the rogue attacks. They’ve been silent for two years now, so it was a surprise when they suddenly started causing chaos again. It wasn’t just our pack that was affected, but also another pack under us.” Beta Jarren explained, causing Serena’s interest to skyrocket
She was well aware that Alpha Perez had been taking over various packs up north, but she was unfamiliar with the tactics he employed. Was it the typical approach of using brute force and violence to overpower weaker packs? Or did they try to negotiate first?
“What’s on your mind? Ask us anything, and we’ll give you an honest answer, whether it’s personal or pack related.” Perez picked up on the subtle shift in Serena’s expression. It was clear that she had some questions, but she seemed hesitant to voice them
“Uhm how do you conquer different territories and packs? And why do you do it?” Serena didn’t waste any time in asking her question. She had already received permission, so there was no reason for her to hold back on what she truly wanted to ask.
Besides, she would soon become the Luna of this pack, so she needed to know every little detail in order to perform her duties to the best of her abilities.
“It was through negotiation,” Alpha Perez answered before sipping his coffee, “We never use violence against anyone unless necessary, and I conquer territories as a means to strengthen my alliances.”
“The Alphas of the packs I have taken over still retain control over their lands, but they now pledge loyalty to me in exchange. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship based on growing connections and power like how business works.”
“Priscilla will provide you with a list of the packs under our command. After we officially become mates and you become my Luna, we will travel to all the territories that I have conquered. will then introduce you to the Alphas who work under me,” He added, and Serena nodded in agreement. She couldn’t help but admire how mature and responsible he sounded, and how his leadership ability shone through.
He was clearly a natural born leader, with a firm grasp on his power and the respect of his followers. No wonder why the Alpha King was wary of him. Perez was a confident person, but not in an arrogant way like so many other Alphas Serena had met. On top of that, he was genuinely intelligent and strategic.
As the Alpha and his beta and gamuna finished their breakfasts, dey excused themselves, stating that they had important matters to attend to. This left Serena in the care of Priscilla, who kindly gave her a tour of the packhouse. She showed Serena the location of the training rooms, armory, infirmary, banquet hall, kitchen, and other important areas in detail so she wouldn’t overlook anything.
“Do you have any questions?” Priscilla asked, wanting to keep things friendly and relaxed between them. “Feel free to ask me

“Oh well..” Serena absentmindedly twirled her fingers as they strolled through the garden. It had been–covered in snow just yesterday, but now it was bursting with vibrant green plants and lowers. The sun’s warmth filtered through the foliage. creating a picturesque scene that Serena couldn’t help but admire. Despite not wanting to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere,

“I haven’t
seen the previous Alpha and Luna around; may I ask where they are?”
