Chapter 15
SERENA’S MIND was brought back to the present as she recalled his words. She blinked her eyes and saw Alpha Perez patiently waiting for her response. She placed the telephone gely back onto its cradle, feeling a little relieved. After all, she thought one of her father’s warriors was the one who took her handl.
Besides, a whole week had passed since he proposed that idea, and she assumed Alpha Perez had returned to his own territory by now. However, it appeared that he had chosen to extend his stay here longer than originally planned.
“You scared me, why are you still here?” she asked, watching as he took her hand and gently tugged her along, pulling both her and her suitcase. She was surprised but still managed to thank the bartender. Luckily, they had just opened for the day. so there were no other customers around yet
“Because I know you’re going to accept my proposal” Alpha Perez responded before guiding Serena out of the PUB and to his car. He held the door open for her and helped her into the passenger seat before placing her suitcase it in the trunk. As she sat there in a daze, trying to process everything that was happening, Alpha got into the driver’s seat and started the engine.
She indeed was trying to call the number he had given her, remembering him telling her time to think things over and to call him once she had made a decision, but she never expected him actually to wait for her, like literally
“Shall we go then?” He asked, causing Serena to snap out of her trance and turn to him, her eyes blinking rapidly several times before finally managing a response.
“A–already?”
“Well, we can’t stay here for too long, unless you want us to be seen together and draw attention.” He shrugged and before she knew it, they were already leaving. Serena felt conflicted as it finally dawned on her that she was leaving her pack and territory behind, and it all happened in the blink of an eye.
“Who beat you?” Serena flinched at Alpha Perez’s question, then slowly turned to face him. She had been gazing out the window, but now she met his unreadable gaze, unsure if she should respond or not.
Because her wolf was still in the early stages of awakening, certain abilities like fast healing were not yet fully developed. As a result, her swollen cheeks that was starting to bruise and the cut on her lip remained visible. This must have raised his curiosity or concern.
“My ex–husband… He beat me after believing I tried to kill Marga. Then my father kicked me out of the pack,” she replied before taking a deep sigh. “That scheming bitch just can’t get enough of making my life miserable. They were all trash until the very end.”
“Should I punish them? What I said before, I meant everything. Alpha Perez spoke while he drove, taking a quick glance at her before refocusing on the road. Serena was momentarily stunned, trying to understand why he would go that far for her. “If you want your ex–husband’s head or your sister’s, just say the word and I’ll hand them over to you.”
“No, I cannot accept death as their punishment; that would be too merciful for them,” she said, ignoring the scary words coming out of his mouth. She could sense that he was serious and wouldn’t hesitate to follow through, but for some reason,
but I she couldn’t bring herself to be afraid of him, even though his words were chilling. “My desire for revenge is strong, will take my time to exact it… For now, I need to focus on recovering both physically and emotionally.”
“All right, do that… We still have a long way to go before we arrive in Alberona, so why don’t you get some rest! I’ll wake you up when we make our first stop for lunch.” Alpha Perez reached up and gently patted the top of her head, causing Serena’s heart to race. “You did well enduring and surviving this far. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you won’t suffer the same fate in your new home.”
As she heard his reassuring words and felt the warmth of his hand on her head, Serena’s eyes began to sting. His presence and scent brought a sense of security and comfort that she desperately needed. Despite his intimidating and mysterious nature, she couldn’t help but feel that he genuinely wanted to protect and care for her.

NOV
“Thank you…” she uttered softly before lowering her head. For one last time, she let herself cry until she fell asleep.
When Serena woke up, she found herself lying on a soft bed in a luxurious room. The sunlight seeped through the windows, and birds could be heard chirping outside. She slowly sat up, feeling a bit disoriented from her deep sleep.
“Shit, how long did I sleep?” She mumbled to herself, still half–asleep, as she rubbed her eyes. At first, she thought they had arrived at Alpha Perez’s house, but upon inspecting the room’s decor, it was clear that he had booked a hotel so she could get some proper rest.
“You slept for a whole day” Serena was startled by the voice and quickly looked towards the balcony door to see Alpha Perez entering. He wasted no time and made his way over to her, taking a seat on the bed while facing her. His attire was different from the previous day, confirming her hunch that he had booked a room.
“I decided not to wake you up because you were sleeping so peacefully yesterday. Since it seemed uncomfortable to sleep in the car, I looked for a hotel and booked a room so that you could get some proper rest,” he added, “Do you want to get some more rest, or are you feeling hungry? I’m thinking of ordering room service for us—”
Serena’s stomach let out a loud growl, interrupting him and causing him to chuckle. Embarrassed, she blushed and cleared her throat, knowing there was no point in trying to explain herself.
“Freshened up, I’m going to make a call.” Alpha Perez playfully ruffled Serena’s already disheveled hair before getting up from the bed. For a moment, her eyes followed his movements while she traced her fingers over the spot where he had touched her.
It was a rare feeling for her to be treated with such gentleness and care, especially by someone she barely knew, It was a nice feeling, but at the same time, it was making her anxious, because what if he had more than just a contract in mind when he proposed to her?
