The Holy King’s eyes burned with unwavering determination, his voice thick with belief. “There are also a billion from Chanaea. We’ve always ruled this world. Mackenzie remained composed, despite the unexpected intimacy of the meeting. The room’s size didn’t matter. She was face to face with the Holy King now, and she had to understand everything.
What Freya had told her? It might not have been the full truth. After all, Freya’s position was limited, and his views might not align with the Holy King’s.
“Your Holiness, you are wise!”
The Holy King smiled, before continuing, his words heavy with purpose. “I’ve come with the Grand Protector to speak with you. We want you to join us in seizing control of the Chanaea Congress.”
Mackenzie’s gaze sharpened, her voice steady. “And then?”
She needed to return to Congress, but she knew their objectives weren’t the same. They had their plans; she had hers.
“Then, with the Congress‘ blessing, we’ll have the Holy Fire organization, already positioned at Chanaea’s borders with three hundred thousand troops, march into the capital under the guise of purging traitors. We’ll crush the rebellion, take control of the national army, and secure our rightful place in power!”
His tone was eerily calm.
On the outside, Mackenzie kept her expression neutral, but inside, her mind spun.
The Holy King’s eyes were locked in an unwavering gaze, his confidence absolute.
“So, the Holy Fire organization has been using Ezra and the Summertons all this time?” she asked, forcing herself to stay cool.
The Holy King nodded, his expression unchanged. “Neither can live while the other survives. We’ve had the same goal, which is why we’ve worked together until now, but that cooperation ends today.”
Mackenzie’s heart skipped a beat. From the Holy King’s tone, it was clear: Ethan wasn’t going to make it out
alive.
Once Ethan was gone, Mason’s and Catherine’s forces would no longer be allies. The fragile cooperation would shift to open conflict. The Holy King was already preparing his next move.

On the ground, Ethan, too, sighed silently. He hadn’t expected the danger to be this imminent.

We will escort you back to the Congress, Zovince has many followers. We will seize control of the Congress and crown Simu as Chanaea’s commander.
“We will designate the Holy Fire organization as the national defense army. Once Zolsky is authorized, he will lead our forces from the border to Zovince, establishing our rule over Chanaca.”
Simu, kneeling, leaned forward with intensity. “Please, Your Holiness, give the command!”
Mackenzie froze, staring at them.
After a long silence, she finally chuckled softly. “You’re really going through with this, huh? But you don’t need me to go to the Congress. You just want me to be your puppet, taking all the blame, don’t you?”
“No, this is not blame. This is glory, Your Holiness!” The Holy King spoke with fervor.
“You will be the greatest person in human history. The goddess of the entire world!”
His eyes glimmered with absolute conviction.
Mackenzie wasn’t sure if he truly believed what he said, but there was no way she would ever agree to this. She knew that Lady Saintess was the figurehead of the Holy Fire organization.
Without her name, the organization would crumble.
“Your Holiness, I’ll kill Ethan right now. Remove the first obstacle!”
At a signal from the Holy King, Simu sprang to his feet, the air around him thick with murderous intent.
“No!” Mackenzie shouted, her arms blocking his path.
The Holy King’s eyes remained cold, unwavering.
Simu swiftly sidestepped her, his fist flying toward Ethan’s head.
In that split second, Anna, who had been tracking their every move, dropped from the shadows, kicking Simu’s wrist with a brutal force.
“Feel the heat of my flames!” she yelled.
Solana followed her lead, summoning a surge of fire, blasting it directly at Simu.
Despite the surprise attack, Simu reacted in an instant, dodging the flames and retreating to the side v practiced ease.
Mackenzie’s heart lurched.
Thanks to inheriting Lady Saintess‘ abilities and the Heart of the Sun’s power, her internal strength had almost reached S–level But her fighting skills were still those of a beginner

Without a second thought, she snapped, “Anna, take Ethan and get out of here!”
“Your Holiness, what about you-”
Anna hesitated. Her mission was to protect Mackenzie, not Ethan.
Before she could finish, she met Mackenzie’s stern gaze and gritted her teeth. “Understood.”
She grabbed Ethan and dashed for the exit.
“You’re not getting away alive!” Simu snarled, immediately charging after them.
Solana stepped in his way, a cold smile on her lips.
“Is that meant for yourself?”
She spread her arms, and flames exploded from her fingertips.
Simu scoffed, “Amateur tricks.”
With a flick of his cloak, he deflected the flames and sent them back with terrifying force.
Solana stumbled back, stunned by the strength.
Before she could recover, Simu was in front of her, his gaze filled with contempt–as if she were nothing more than a bug beneath his boot.
“Die, you filthy hag!”
Simu’s fist connected with Solana’s chest, sending her flying backward. Blood splattered from her mouth.
“Pathetic,” Simu muttered, his voice dripping with disdain.
He turned away, his gaze locking on Ethan. The hunt continued.
Anna, carrying Ethan, knew they couldn’t outrun him.
As she was about to move, Solana’s arms wrapped tightly around Simu’s leg, anchoring him in place.
“Heh, I’m not as easy to defeat as you think!” Solana’s voice was cold, dripping with determination. “Let’s burn together in hell!”
With death in her eyes, she readied herself to unleash the flames.
But Mackenzie’s voice cut through the tension. “Solana, no! Simu, I command you in the name of Saintess–stop!”

“Your Holiness…” Solana tried once more, her voice strained,
Mackenzie gave her a brief, reassuring smile.
“It’s alright. Trust me–and trust Emmanuel. He’ll find a way. I can’t stand by while the Wolf Warriors, or any of my friends, die.”
Sarah’s death had already broken her spirit too many times.
Solana sighed, giving up. She fell silent.
The Holy King’s gaze turned inward as he pondered, caught in the swirl of conflicting thoughts. His face reflected a mix of hesitation and determination.
Anna, successfully getting Ethan to safety, caught the Holy King’s eye. He nodded. “Alright. The Holy Fire organization welcomes you, Your Holiness.”
