“Oh?” Gwain’s confusion deepened. He only knew part of the truth–never the full picture.
Chanaea had a Martial Arts Association, responsible for collecting and updating the strength rankings of martial artists nationwide. The association even had a formal rating system. The weakest were D–class, while the strongest were Sage level–that was, SSS–class and beyond.
The Seven Saints were officially recorded in the association’s database. And yet, his father’s name was nowhere to be found. He had never realized that the Lannister family was the true power behind this institution.
“I’m not talking about the Chanaea Martial Arts Association.” Eric smirked, as if reading his son’s thoughts. “When it comes to top martial artists, even the association relies on intelligence from another organization to update its records.”
Gwain asked bluntly, “Father, what organization?”
If even he didn’t know about it, then it had to be a well–guarded secret.
“It’s called North Star. You’ll come across it sooner or later, but for now, there’s no need to talk about it. First, we need to get out of here.”
Eric had no interest in wasting more time. Santiago and Yorick might have been severely wounded, but together, they were still a force to be reckoned with. And worst of all, there was still Emmanuel, the grandson of the only warrior in history to have reached the legendary quintuple–S class at his peak. That monstrous strength made him a true king of battle.
Eric had no intention of crossing paths with him tonight.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel had no interest in chasing down the Lannister family either. His priority was escorting Ethan back to Congress to take control of the situation.
As they descended the mountain, Emmanuel received a message from Eve. A massive army, nearly 100,000 strong, was already at the gates of Zovince, preparing to storm the city. Their objective? Seizing Congress and controlling Chanaea’s core political institutions.
But before they even reached the foot of the mountain, a line of soldiers blocked their way. Emery stood at the front.
“What’s this about? These are Mr. Hale’s forces! Who dares to stop us?” Emmanuel stepped out of the car, his voice thunderous with rage.
The moment Emery saw him, a chill ran down his spine. D*mn it, it’s the doom slayer again.
Still, he forced himself to stand firm and barked, “We are acting under official orders! Mr. Hale must complete the prayer ceremony before the lockdown can be lifted. Since the ceremony is not yet completed, he must return to the mountain!”
“What the hell is going on?” Blake, who had followed Emmanuel down the mountain, couldn’t help but snort in disbelief. “Who the hell do you guys think you are? Some low–level nobodies trying to boss a bigwig around? You think you’re the president or something?”

Emery stood his ground, his tone unwavering. “We are merely following official orders. Please don’t make this difficult for us!”
“Emmanuel, they’re stalling for time!” Mackenzie hurriedly called out from behind, her voice urgent. “This has to be Ezra’s doing. He set this up on purpose–to stop Mr. Hale from making it back to Congress!”
Of course, Emmanuel had already figured as much. Without hesitation, he barked out another order. “Aim the cannons at them! If anyone dares block our way again–fire!”
Here we go again. Emery instinctively took a step back, shoving his men forward while still trying to keep up appearances. “Emmanuel, what you’re doing is illegal! We-”
“Fire!”
Emmanuel had no patience for this nonsense. He cut Emery off mid–sentence and gave the command.
Boom!
Frederick, his hands trembling, slammed down on the firing switch. He didn’t even hesitate; if Emmanuel had the guts.to call it, he had the guts to do it. That was what ride–or–die meant.
A cannon shell whistled through the air before slamming into the ground ahead.
Chaos erupted instantly. The entire battlefield exploded into disorder.
To everyone’s astonishment, Emery, barely dodging the blast, still had the audacity to roar, “Open fire! Defend the honor of the Imperial Guards!”
The mayhem intensified.
Emmanuel wasted no time shoving Mackenzie into the car.
Just then, a dagger spun through the air, slicing through several armed Imperial Guards before they even had time to react.
Xarri had joined the fight.
Not to be outdone, Quell swung her soft sword, its edge so sharp and swift that two Imperial Guards were instantly reduced to lifeless ice sculptures–their blood freezing midair before it could even hit the ground.
“Emmanuel, take Her Holiness and Mr. Hale and get back to Congress! Leave this mess to me! I’ll with you later!” Xarri called out.
“Got it! I’m counting on you!”

Wasting no time, Emmanuel floored the gas, the green off–road vehicle tearing through the battlefield. They plowed straight through the fire zone, sending several Imperial Guards flying with a chorus of screams. The flames and gunfire raged behind them as they sped off from Divine Mountain.
“Emmanuel, Mr. Hale–Ezra is clearly making his move against us. Even if we make it back to the city, we can’t let our guard down,” Mackenzie reminded them.
“Yeah, I know,” Ethan finally sighed. His expression was complicated as he admitted, “Mr. Zelinsky has always been one of Mr. Sheffield–Grey’s most loyal supporters. He’s never backed Mr. Artemis–and now.

he sure as hell won’t back me. It’s a real shame. Mr. Zelinsky is a brilliant man…. I just wish one day, I could convince him with results–to have him stand with us and work together for Chanaea.”
Emmanuel and Mackenzie exchanged looks before shaking their heads with a wry smile.
Even now, Ethan is thinking about this? His mind really works differently from ordinary people.
It was said the best form of strategy was winning without a fight, while the worst was brute force. If they could change Ezra’s mindset, it would indeed be far more beneficial than simply taking him out. But… That might just be a pipe dream.
After leaving Divine Mountain, the journey was smooth–until they neared the city. Just as they were about to enter Zovince, Emmanuel’s phone rang.
It was Eve. “Commander, the enemy’s firepower is overwhelming! We can’t hold the city gates much longer!”
Emmanuel’s grip tightened around his phone, his knuckles turning white.
The Wolf Warrior Unit was a force to be reckoned with, but 5,000 against nearly 100,000? And in a siege where retreat wasn’t an option? That was a nearly impossible fight.
“Emmanuel, you need to get to the front lines! If you lead the troops yourself, we might still have a chance to push the rebels back!” Mackenzie urged.
“What about you and Mr. Hale?” Emmanuel hesitated.
“We’re not invalids! And I’m a trained fighter now. Stop treating me like some delicate damsel in distress!” She shot him a mock glare, then smiled. “Go! If the rebels break through, the consequences will be catastrophic!”
“Alright.” Emmanuel squeezed her hand. “Stay safe. Watch over Mr. Hale.”
“Go already!” Mackenzie chuckled. “Or do you want Mr. Hale to start teasing us?”
“Haha…” Ethan was already laughing. “Chanaea is fortunate to have the two of you–one with a sharp mind, the other a warrior at heart. Together, you’ll bring great fortune to this nation.”
Emmanuel felt a little embarrassed but wasted no more time. He jumped out of the vehicle and sprinted toward the city gates alone.
Meanwhile, at Zovince’s city gates, a sudden, intense battle had thrown the entire city into chaos. Civilians were terrified. Missiles streaked through the sky, reducing buildings to rubble within seconds.
With the city gate’s traffic crippled, a mysterious army descended like a storm, marching in with overwhelming force.
But just when it seemed all was lost, a second elite force emerged, blocking the invasion. The clash erupted into a full–scale firefight right at the city entrance.
Zovince’s main gate was the city’s most critical stronghold. Emmanuel had stationed his best men there well in advance–1,000 of the Wolf Warrior Unit’s fiercest soldiers, personally led by Sage and Eve.

Although the enemy forces weren’t as well–trained or disciplined as the Wolf Warrior Unit, they had numbers on their side. The battle had raged for hours, and though the enemy’s casualties were more than ten times higher, they just kept coming.
Worse still, the rebels had come fully prepared, cutting off supply lines and forcing Sage and Eve’s troops into a dire situation. Their ammunition was running out, and their weapons were breaking. And now, they were down to their bare hands, forced into brutal mele combat against fully armed soldiers.
