Gwain was caught off guard by Master Theron’s question. Not once had anyone ever told him which of his ancestors had actually mastered the Dragon Tome.
Master Theron spoke calmly, “If the Dragon Tome truly belongs to the Lannister family, then someone from your lineage must have understood it. Yet, history records only one person who successfully mastered it–the founding abbot of the Chapel of Oros
His voice remained steady as he added, “That happened 456 years ago. Our chapel’s records document it clearly. Mr. Gwain, are you suggesting that centuries–old records have been fabricated?”
“Well…” Gwain clenched his jaw, struggling for a response. He didn’t have a real answer, but he refused to back down.
“Hmph! Who’s to say? None of us were there to witness it. Since the day I was born, everyone–my family, my clan, even outsiders–has said that the Dragon Tome belongs to the Lannister family. That can’t be a lie!”
Master Theron gave him a thoughtful look. “How old are you, Mr. Gwain?”
“Twenty–seven,” Gwain answered proudly, flicking his hand dismissively.
Master Theron remarked sincerely, “A rare gift indeed. Reaching this level of martial skill at your age is truly extraordinary.”
Just then, his tone shifted. “That being said, it’s not surprising that you don’t know the full story. The truth is, Victor borrowed the Dragon Tome from the Chapel of Oros long ago, and I was the one who arranged it.”
Gwain’s eyes narrowed.
Master Theron continued, “Victor swore he’d return it, but instead, it vanished. When I confronted him, he claimed his younger brother, Eric, had taken it.”
“I went to Eric, and he assured me he’d find it and return it. However, when I returned a year later, the entire city of Zovince already believed the Dragon Tome belonged to the Lannister family.”
“At that time, Mr. Gwain, you were just a newborn. It’s no surprise you never heard the real story.”
Gwain felt a flicker of doubt but quickly dismissed it. “Ha! You expect me to believe that? Why has no one spoken about it for so many years if it were true? Besides, my father isn’t the type to stoop so low!”
“So, you’re Eric’s son?” Master Theron let out a deep sigh. “Your father is a cunning man. He speaks in half- truths, twisting facts to his advantage. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s deceived, even you. He’s been plotting something far greater than you realize. Though what exactly that is, I do not know.”
Gwain’s expression darkened.
Father always says he’s in seclusion, locked away in the Lannister Estate, but does anyone actually know if he’s there?
An entire year has passed, and no matter what’s happened in the world, he hasn’t shown himself–not even for events that should have demanded his presence.

Master Theron’s voice pulled him from his thoughts. “Mr. Gwain, let me speak plainly. The Dragon Tome and the Reverse Dragon Palm are both sacred martial arts of the Chapel of Oros–one is a technique, the other an external martial art. When combined, they hold devastating power, capable of overwhelming any opponent.”
“I don’t know why the Lannister family has spread the false claim that the tome belongs to you. Yet the truth is, it was stolen nearly a century ago.”
“Our abbot eventually defeated the one who stole it, but the Dragon Tome was damaged in the struggle. Half of it was lost. Ever since the previous abbot passed away, no one has seen the complete version.”
“Our grand master, the Zen Master, spent years trying to recover it. He even enlisted the help of the Five Great Martial Arts Clans to reconstruct what was missing.”
Gwain’s confidence wavered. He couldn’t ignore the weight behind Master Theron’s words. He asked, “Who were the Five Great Martial Arts Clans? Did they succeed in restoring it?”
Master Theron nodded. “Yes, but imperfectly. The Dotson, Harper, Summerton, Hickman, and Lannister families each worked on a version. However, none of them were complete. Each had its own flaws.”
“The Harper family?” Gwain stiffened. A realization struck him–one that left him uneasy.
First, it explained why Yosef’s martial arts contained elements of the upper half of the Dragon Tome. It wasn’t a coincidence–it came from research done decades ago.
Second, the truth he didn’t want to admit was that he had been practicing an incomplete martial arts technique all along.
Master Theron continued, “Yes. The Harper family met a tragic end, and the Dragon Tome played a role in their downfall. Anyway, that’s a long story.”
“As for the Lannister family, they became obsessed with perfection. That’s why they never developed their own version. Only then did I arrange for Victor to borrow the Dragon Tome, but instead of restoring it, chaos followed.”
“Ridiculous!” Gwain snapped. He refused to believe it. Accepting such a truth would be an insult to his family’s legacy.
He asserted, “My father, my uncle–everyone has always told me that the Dragon Tome is ours! You and the Summerton family stole it! And now you dare twist history to deceive the world? How shameless!”
Master Theron sighed. “I have told you the truth, Mr. Gwain. The Dragon Tome is no longer in our library. I won’t hold it against you whether you believe me or not. Even for destroying the bookshelf… I won’t seek retribution. Please, just leave.”
“Hmph! You may not blame me, but I certainly blame you!”
Without warning, Gwain lunged.
He thought, As long as this old friar is gone, no one can argue otherwise!
Gwain held nothing back. His attacks were swift, brutal, and merciless.
To his shock, Master Theron was far stronger than he expected.

Despite their nearly matched strength, Gwain still held the upper hand.
“Mr. Gwain, I do not quarrel with the Lannister family. Why must you insist on fighting me?” Master Theron asked, his voice calm yet resolute as he took a defensive stance.
At that moment, Gwain realize
this battle wouldn’t be over quickly.
This old friar isn’t as easy to take down as I thought. I may have the upper hand, but finishing him off in just a few moves? Impossible. His technique is too refined and too controlled.
What if he calls for backup? The guards will swarm in. I’ll be outnumbered, trapped with no escape.
Then-
Crash!
A red shadow burst through the window and joined the battle, launching a fierce attack on Master Theron.
“Aora?!” Gwain’s eyes widened. Of all people, his greatest rival had appeared–yet here he was, fighting at his side.
Master Theron was just as stunned. He never imagined two of the world’s strongest martial artists would storm the Chapel of Oros‘ library at the same time.
Thrown off balance by Aora’s assault, Master Theron struggled to react.
Seizing the moment, Gwain struck from behind.
Crack!
His palm slammed into Master Theron’s back. The impact shattered the old friar’s internal organs. Blood spilled from his lips.
In that instant, it was over.
Despite his formidable skills, Master Theron stood no chance against two elite fighters. Overwhelmed, his body gave out, and he collapsed–lifeless.
Just then, another figure leaped through the back window.
It was Gautier.
His expression was grim as he took in the scene. “The guarding disciples are coming. You need to leave-
now.”
