“What’s wrong?” Emmanuel noticed the shift in Santiago’s expression.

Santiago hesitated for a moment before saying, “I remember… Colin’s daughter died years ago. She had birthmarks–one on her right arm and another on her lower back.”
His gaze fell on Xylie’s arm. Not a single mark.
“You sure about that?” Emmanuel asked, frowning.
He hadn’t checked her lower back at the moment, but during an acupuncture treatment, he had seen enough to know–Xylie didn’t have those birthmarks.
“How could I be wrong? I held that kid in my arms back then!” Santiago replied, his tone firm.
Emmanuel let out a slow breath. “Well, that settles it. Teddy’s been lying to her from the start. He fed her a fake identity so that he could use her to marry into the Chapman Family and gain their backing.”
Santiago nodded, unsurprised. Knowing Teddy, this kind of deceit was par for the course.
“Master, earlier, you said she looks like someone. Who?” Emmanuel asked, a suspicion forming in his mind.
Santiago chuckled. “Jane. And a little like Isabella, too. Guess it runs in the blood–all beauties.”
Emmanuel narrowed his eyes. A wild thought crossed his mind. “Master… is there any chance she’s actually your daughter?”
Santiago burst out laughing. “No way. I’ve had that thought myself, but I saw Jane and our daughter die with my own eyes.”
Emmanuel frowned. “You saw it happen? Tell me exactly what went down.”
Santiago’s face darkened as he took a deep breath. His eyes flickered with old grief as he stared at the ceiling.
“Back then, Yorick was a fugitive, hunted by every major martial arts sect. Even so, he refused to let go of. Jane. While I was away, he tried to take her and our daughter with him.”
“Of course, Jane refused. When I rushed back… I saw him shove them into the sea with his own hands…” “The waves were raging. The cliffs were brutal. We searched for three days straight, but they were gone.”
Silence filled the room.
Then, a small movement caught Emmanuel’s eye–Xylie’s eyelids fluttered. Slowly, she opened her eyes. “Xylie, you’re awake!” Emmanuel’s voice carried both relief and excitement.
She blinked up at him, her lips trembling. “Emmanuel, I… I’m sorry. I’ve been such a burden.”
“What nonsense are you saying? You saved my life. Anything I do for you is the least I can do,” Emmanuel responded, exasperated.

Xylie looked at Santiago, confused.
She had never seen him before, yet something about him felt oddly familiar.

Noticing her expression, Emmanuel spoke softly, “Teddy lied to you. You’re probably not Colin’s daughter at all. He’s been using you.”
Xylie froze. “What?”
A deep panic flickered in her eyes. My whole life–my very identity–is nothing but a lie?
Despite the turmoil inside her, she nodded. She trusted Emmanuel. If nothing else, she believed in him.
After a round of acupuncture, her breathing steadied, and color returned to her face.
Once Emmanuel was sure she was stable, he stepped outside with Santiago.
By now, Mackenzie and the others had returned to the estate.
Seeing that his wife and the rest were safe, Emmanuel felt a weight lift off his chest. Teddy’s election loss had caused internal chaos, meaning there was no immediate threat for now.
“Emmanuel, you need to rest. You look exhausted,” Mackenzie urged, concern in her voice as she noticed the sheen of sweat on his forehead.
Flashing a small smile, Emmanuel assured her, “I feel great. You’re the one who should get some rest. The real battle is only just starting.”
It wasn’t an empty statement. With the Art of Sunflame flowing through him, exhaustion was a thing of the
past.
Mackenzie nodded. She knew all too well what he meant. The two of them took turns getting some rest.
The night passed without incident.
At sunrise, Mackenzie was to visit the Chanaea Chamber of Commerce headquarters to officially take over Teddy’s role.
Emmanuel had planned to go with her, but Santiago called him for an urgent video call. Reluctantly, he parted ways with his wife for the morning.
The screen flickered on inside a secured communication chatroom, and Santiago got straight to business. “I looked into what you asked about.”
Emmanuel leaned in. “And?”
Santiago’s expression was serious. “There’s no record of any regular military base in Chanaea mobilizing. No sign of troop movements. No evidence of infiltration into Zovince before election day.”
“Nothing?” Emmanuel frowned, his mind racing.
That doesn’t make sense. Laura said the forces backing General Lenoir had been planning something big for three years. Wasn’t it all building up to this election? Did I get it wrong?
“Nothing,” Santiago confirmed. Then he added, “Teddy and the Zelinsky Family have layers of hidden influence. It’s more complicated than we thought. Stay sharp.”

that.
Santiago’s gaze softened just a little. “For now, Ethan has the upper hand in the election. Your job is to make sure he stays safe.” Then, with a rare smile, he added, “You’ve always been my best. Now that you’ve rebuilt yourself, I expect nothing less.”
Emmanuel straightened, giving a respectful nod. “Understood, Master.”
Santiago didn’t micromanage–he trusted Emmanuel to get the job done.
After the call ended, Emmanuel sat back, deep in thought.
The West End is quiet. Nuthana’s key players have all entered Zovince.
I need to move the Wolf Warrior troops to the outskirts of Eldoria. It borders Zovince–if anything happens before election day, I’ll make sure we maintain order. Even if it means risking execution, I’ll send them in.
Meanwhile, Mackenzie had arrived at the Chamber of Commerce headquarters with the other representatives.
The building was just as grand as expected–elegant, powerful, and dripping with wealth.
It was ironic. Her first time stepping inside, she was already taking over as Chairman.
Today was the official transition of leadership. The outgoing chairman was supposed to hand over authority, solidifying Mackenzie’s position.
However, there was just one problem–Teddy was nowhere to be seen.
Thirty minutes passed, and just as Mackenzie was about to send someone to track him down, he finally showed up.
He walked in with a group of men, moving as if he still owned the place.
Mackenzie didn’t bother with pleasantries. “Mr. Tanner, you have a real talent for wasting time.”
Teddy scoffed. “Unlike you, I actually have important matters to attend to.”
Mackenzie’s patience was long gone. “Enough talk. Hand over the Chamber of Commerce seal, and let’s make this transition official.”
