“Good. Just keep this in mind–no matter what happens, your well–being comes first,” Ethan reminded her once more but didn’t drag it out.
She was the star tonight. He was just playing a minor role.
Shortly after the banquet began, Ethan had a few bites before excusing himself to return to work. Prior to his departure, he turned to Emmanuel and told him he wouldn’t require his protection for the night, giving him the opportunity to relax and enjoy the evening with his wife.
Showing respect, Emmanuel allowed Albin to guide the team in escorting Ethan back.
With Ethan gone, Veronica arrived. She brought Nathan and some key members of the Chapman Family to toast Mackenzie and offer their congratulations.
Tonight, as the guest of honor, Mackenzie was going to be busy all night. Emmanuel naturally took it upon himself as the man standing behind her to shield her from all the drinks coming her way.
“Haha! Master, Emmanuel is catching up to you when it comes to drinking!” Shane laughed as the drinks flowed.
Instead of showing signs of getting drunk, Emmanuel seemed to get more energized. He was drinking like a beast!
Standing with his hands behind his back, Santiago watched with a knowing smile but didn’t say much.
“Emmanuel, are you sure you’re okay? You don’t have to push yourself,” Mackenzie asked, concerned.
She knew he could hold his liquor, but with so much on his plate, she didn’t want him overdoing it.
“I’m totally fine, Mackenzie! Honestly, I feel like I could keep drinking for days!” Emmanuel grinned.
Even he found it weird–his alcohol tolerance had never been this high before.
Despite his confidence, she decided enough was enough. Everyone respected her decision once she made the call, and the toasts stopped.
Emmanuel finally had a moment to breathe.
Just then, a familiar voice spoke beside him. “Emmanuel, can we talk for a second?”
Turning, he found Santiago standing there with his hands clasped behind his back. Emmanuel nodded and walked away from the lively banquet hall.
“Master, what’s up?” he asked.
Santiago wasn’t the type to strike up a casual chat–if he was calling him over, it had to be necessary.
“How did your strength suddenly jump so much?” Santiago asked, curiosity evident in his voice.

had skyrocketed–almost a complete level up. Even if Santiago gave it his all, he wasn’t sure he could defeat his own disciple any longer.
Emmanuel admitted, “I honestly have no idea. I just realized tonight while drinking–I feel incredible like I have endless energy.”
“Let me check something.” Santiago circled around him, occasionally pressing his fingers against different points on Emmanuel’s body.
After a moment, he smirked. “Looks like the technique you developed is something special. It fits your body perfectly.”
“My body?” Emmanuel asked though he had his suspicions.
Santiago spoke, “Yeah. When I took you in as my disciple, I noticed your natural physique–what people would call a war god’s body.”
He then straightened his posture, his expression thoughtful.
“You’ve always had a strong ability to recover, but before, it was still within normal human limits. Yet after obtaining the Heart of the Sun and combining it with the Dragon Tome, the martial arts technique you developed has fully awakened your hidden potential.”
“That explains a lot…” Emmanuel giggled. He had suspected as much, but hearing Santiago confirm it made it feel even more real.
“Yeah, and from what I can tell, the way your body works now is almost like a Saiyan’s–you get stronger every time you come close to death and recover!” Santiago explained.
“Wait, did you just say Saiyan?” Emmanuel blinked in surprise. Did Santiago actually know about Saiyans?
Scratching his head, he laughed. “Haha! Well, now that you mention it, I did get nearly beaten to death recently. After I healed up, I felt way stronger! I guess the combination of the Heart of the Sun and the Dragon Tome really is something special. I think I’ll name my technique the Art of Sunflame!”
“Haha! That’s got a nice ring to it!” Santiago laughed along with him.
Seeing Emmanuel’s rapid growth, Santiago finally felt at ease, thinking, Emmanuel is able to handle whatever comes his way with this level of power. Now, it’s just a matter of waiting to see how the enemy plays their hand.
Just then, a figure rushed toward them.
It was Sage–still looking pale and worn down from his injuries.
“Commander Lowe! We’ve got a problem!” he panted, sweating heavily.
Emmanuel’s expression shifted. “What’s wrong? Are you not healing properly?”
“No, it’s not me!” Sage shook his head. “It’s Xylie–she’s in danger again!”
Emmanuel didn’t hesitate. He turned and promptly rushed off.
Xylie had woken up a few days ago but was still in critical condition. He had been caught up with the Chamber of Commerce election and had left her care to the medical team. Clearly, that wasn’t enough.

Soon, they arrived at Xylie’s hospital ward.
She lay there, weak and barely holding on, her body fragile and pale.
Looking anxious, the medical staff spoke up immediately. “Mr. Lowe, we did everything we could, but her body is extremely weak. She was born with congenital anemia, and even though she regained consciousness, she’s struggling to recover on her own.”
“Enough!” Emmanuel cut them off.
There was no time for explanations.
“Prepare the silver needles,” he ordered, already pulling out his acupuncture tools. He was going to use the Nine Yang Acupuncture Technique to boost her vitality and keep her alive.
“Xylie, stay with me!” His voice was firm, but deep down, he knew this was unlikely to work. He could only hope that hearing his voice would strengthen her will to live.
At that moment, Santiago spoke, “Emmanuel, do you know this girl’s background? There’s something familiar about her, especially with her condition. She reminds me of someone.”
Emmanuel hesitated but kept his hands steady as he worked. His skills were precise enough that talking wouldn’t interfere with applying the needle. Still, he figured that hearing them talk might give her the strength to hold on.
“She told me that Teddy said her father was his brother. She was taken away from Zovince when the Tanner Family fell and was only brought back recently,” he explained.
Santiago’s frown deepened.
“Teddy’s brother’s daughter?” he muttered.
