For decades, the country enjoyed peace. Other than small internal conflicts, it had stayed far away from global wars. Over time, both Chanaeans and the rest of the world started believing that Chanaea was untouchable–that war simply wouldn’t happen here.
However, Magnus‘ words shattered that illusion.
Magnus responded firmly, “Yes. To truly understand what the Four Great Aristocratic Families and Shoiya aim for, we need to zoom out and look at the global picture.”
His confidence was unwavering. “The world is shifting in ways we haven’t seen in a century. Tensions between powerful nations are reaching a breaking point. Hattie’s expression hardened. She thought, Some might dismiss this as paranoia or fear–mongering, but not Magnus. If he’s saying this, it’s not just a possibility–it’s practically guaranteed.
Magnus continued, “As for Yorick’s third reason for being here, it’s about settling old scores with Chanaea’s strongest fighters–especially the Silver Dragon Spear Saint.”
Hattie had expected that.

Hattie nodded slowly, considering his words.

As the official overseeing the vote count, Ansel had no control over who voted for whom–but he did have control over the order. He determined the voting sequence and had the power to arrange it just right.
Teddy’s thoughts churned. Only ten votes in, and Ansel has already let Mackenzie score one. What’s he playing at?
