Back at the Tanner Residence, news of Levi’s death had reached Teddy by nightfall.
Sitting in his dimly lit study, he clenched his fists, his face twisting in anguish.
“Levi… my friend…” His voice trembled, thick with grief, as he buried his face in his hands.
The room was quiet except for Aora, his most trusted confidant, standing nearby.
Seeing Teddy so devastated, Aora’s expression darkened with sorrow. “Mr. Tanner, please accept my condolences,” he stated solemnly.

Teddy exhaled a trembling breath, his voice raw with grief. “I can’t accept this… I won’t accept this. One after another, the people I trusted most are being taken from me.”
The pain clawed at his chest, deep and unbearable. This wasn’t an act–his sorrow was real.
Aora’s fists tightened, his rage simmering just below the surface. “That d*mn couple–Emmanuel and Mackenzie–they’ve crossed the line this time!” His voice was laced with venom. “Mr. Tanner, I swear, I’ll make them suffer. I’ll tear them apart piece by piece!”
Teddy remained silent, the weight of his loss pressing down on him.
Aora took a deep breath, attempting to console him. “Don’t lose hope, Mr. Tanner. We’ll always have the chance to strike back as long as we stand. Old allies may fall, but new ones will rise. We will rebuild stronger -than before.”
Just then, the butler entered the room. “Mr. Tanner, Mr. Verkade is here.”
Teddy wiped at his damp cheeks and straightened his posture. “Gautier? Send him in.”
“Yes, Mr. Tanner.” The butler gave a slight nod before swiftly exiting the room.
A moment later, Gautier stepped inside, his gaze immediately locking onto Teddy’s grief–stricken face. His brows furrowed in concern as he asked, “Master, I just heard… Mr. Lestrange–what happened?”
Teddy exhaled slowly, struggling to find words.
Aora, on the other hand, wasted no time. His tone was sharp, ice–cold. “Emmanuel sent someone to kill him.”
“What?!” Gautier’s eyes widened in shock. He then argued, “Mr. Lestrange was a good man. He never had deep grudges with them!”
Teddy finally found his voice, his tone low and heavy. “After we left, Mackenzie and her people were poisoned. They couldn’t figure out who did it, so they blamed Levi… and executed him.”
“That’s absurd!” Gautier seethed. His hands curled into fists. “That arrogant b*stard! Emmanuel abuses his power like a tyrant, thinking he’s untouchable!”

Gautier sighed dramatically. “Aora, I know you’re strong, but Emmanuel is even stronger than you.”
The words sent a new wave of fury coursing through Aora. A chilling aura surrounded him, thick with murderous intent.
“When we ambushed him before, we had the Eight Supremes, an army of warriors, and the best weapons at our disposal–and we still failed,” Gautier continued, deliberately provoking him further.
Aora snapped. With a single swipe of his hand, a heavy wooden chair shattered into splinters across the room. His voice thundered.
“When I master the Dragon Reversal Essence, no one will stand in my way! I will crush gods, demons, and anyone who dares to challenge me! Emmanuel will be nothing more than the dust beneath my feet!”
Gautier feigned admiration. “Aora, your power is terrifying! I can’t wait to see that day.”
Watching the display with quiet amusement, Teddy finally spoke, “Aora, patience. The real battle will happen on Divine Mountain this New Year’s Day. That is when Emmanuel’s life will end.”
Aora exhaled, trying to tame the wild energy coursing through his veins. “I understand, Mr. Tanner.” His voice was tight, his fury barely restrained. “I will retreat into seclusion to refine my Dragon Reversal Essence. When I return, I will personally kill Emmanuel and avenge Mr. Lestrange and others.”
Gripping Aora’s shoulder, Teddy responded, “Good. I trust you.”
Aora’s eyes gleamed with unshakable determination as he turned and left.
Gautier watched him disappear before shifting his gaze back to Teddy. “Master, something about Aora seems… off.”
Teddy arched a brow. “Oh? You noticed?”
Not bad… He’s got a sharp eye, he mused.
Gautier hesitated momentarily before speaking, “He’s not like me. His energy is incredibly strong, but there’s something unstable about it. It feels like it’s on the verge of erupting.”
Teddy simply smirked.
Gautier continued cautiously, “Master… Is there something wrong with the Dragon Reversal Essence you gave him?”
Teddy’s gaze sharpened. “You’re getting bold, Gautier.”
A bead of sweat rolled down Gautier’s temple, but he forced a smile. “I only ask because I worry about Aora. He’s the last of the Four Great Envoys. If something happens to him…”
Teddy scoffed. “And? You think he’s irreplaceable?”
His voice dropped, carrying an eerie calm. “Martial artists are everywhere. With enough power and money, I could train forty more like him… or four hundred if I wanted.”
Gautier felt a chill creep down his spine. So that’s how he sees us… disposable. He’s not betting on Aora–he’s using us

Teddy cut him off with a knowing smile, “You never told me, but I can tell.”
Feeling the weight of Teddy’s scrutiny, Gautier forced himself to stay composed. Then, with a slow smirk, he replied, “Master, your insight is terrifying. Yes, I arranged for Chiara Lannister to poison Mackenzie’s people.”
Teddy let out a hearty laugh. “Well done! I heard Mackenzie has some troublesome allies. If a few of them die, tomorrow’s battle will be far casier.”
“We will win, Master,” Gautier stated smoothly, bowing his head.
Teddy exhaled, his expression growing serious. “With Levi gone, I’ll depend on you more, Gautier.”
“Master, it is my greatest honor. You’ve shown me kindness, and I owe you everything as my mentor. I’ll dedicate myself fully to your vision,” declared with conviction.
Teddy clapped him on the shoulder, a satisfied grin spreading across his face. “Good! Do your job well; one day, my empire will be yours.”
“Thank you, Master.” Gautier bowed deeply, his expression one of humble loyalty. Yet beneath the act, a faint smirk tugged at his lips, and a shadow darker than the night flickered in his eyes.
