Chapter 2203 The Family’s Plot
Ezra was always an enigma. Even with his powerful reputation as the mayor of Zovince, his relationship with Yorick was vulnerable.
Even without considering Yorick’s title as the Savage Martial Saint, Ezra was still his brother–in–law, which naturally gave him an authority position.
“Regardless of where Mr. Dotson comes from, you’re still Ezra’s brother–in–law.” Catherine smiled, keenly aware of the importance of keeping things harmonious within the family.
This might have looked like a casual conversation about family and relationships to anyone unaware of their backgrounds.
Yorick, who wasn’t as smooth with words as the others, bluntly interrupted, “No! That hasn’t been the case for years. Freya divorced him a long time ago.”
Ezra responded smoothly, “Freya’s children are still part of the Zelinsky family. I plan on having Freya’s son inherit the Zelinsky legacy, even though she and I aren’t together anymore. He’ll always be your sister’s true son.”
Yorick grew quiet.
He stayed single his whole life, but his bond with his younger sister, Freya, was the strongest, especially since they were so close in age. Because of that, her son always held a special place in his heart.
In the meantime, Catherine cut to the chase. “Mr. Morgan, despite our differing political affiliations, we have a mutual adversary, and our family connections provide a strong basis for cooperation.”
Mason gave a humble smile. “Ms. Zelinsky, just tell me what you need. I never had presidential ambitions. I’m just here to support you all.”
Though Mason’s support was the weakest of the three candidates, the Zelinsky siblings knew better. Mason was essentially a figurehead the Holy Trinity had groomed for decades. His smile of apparent indifference? A clever façade hiding his true ambitions.
It was all part of the game. They wouldn’t consider cooperating unless it was absolutely necessary.
“I wouldn’t call it an order, but I do hope Mr. Morgan can cooperate.” Maintaining a polite but firm tone, Catherine continued, “On New Year’s Day, there’s a ceremony for the president to offer prayer for Chanaea. Ethan will replace Artemis and lead the Chanaea officials to the Chapel of Oros on Divine Mountain.”
She paused momentarily before adding, “Given that access to the mountain will be restricted, as presidential candidates, you and I can bring our bodyguard teams with us.”
Mason understood the implication instantly. “I see. That’s why I invited Yorick to join us. With his help, we can definitely accomplish our goals.”
They didn’t explicitly say what they planned, but their understanding was clear.
No matter how high Ethan’s popularity was, if he ended up like Artemis–out of the picture–it wouldn’t matter much.

Mason grinned. “I agree! Still, I’m just a farmer. I think Ms. Zelinsky should take over. The people of Chanaea will prosper under your rule.”
“Flattery won’t work, Mr. Morgan!” Catherine chuckled.
She was no stranger to such tactics. The more innocent Mason appeared, the more wary she became. She had to stay sharp–after all, it was easy to see an attack coming but harder to anticipate one that was hidden beneath a friendly smile.
She also had to ensure that if anything happened to Ethan, she wouldn’t be left empty–handed. So, she decided to make her backup plan clear.
“By then, we have the Lannister Family, the Tanner Family, and others on our side. They’ll be seeking revenge for their enemies, and the most important part is, they’re all relatives of the Zelinsky family, so they’ll back us up.”
In other words, she was making it clear, ‘Don’t do anything reckless–I’ve got my people ready to act.
Of course, a simple warning wasn’t enough. Catherine knew they needed to offer something in return.
She smiled again and offered, “Mr. Morgan, we’re family here. Let’s make a deal. Whoever takes the lead this time, we’ll switch it up in the next term. It’ll benefit the country and the people.”
“Haha, that makes sense!” Mason replied, keeping up the innocent act.
He didn’t budge from his original stance. “I lack sufficient experience in governance. You should continue to lead for the prosperity and stability of Chanaea.”
“Absolutely not; farmers and workers form the foundation of our nation. Mr. Morgan, you originate from the community. You grasp their needs more than anyone else,” Catherine responded.
The two exchanged polite words and compliments, each one carefully watching the other.
Meanwhile, Yorick was losing patience. He stood up abruptly, saying, “This doesn’t concern me. I’m here to deal with the martial artists of Chanaea and get rid of those who wronged me in the past. I’ll be leaving
now.”
The others swiftly stood and showed their respect as the Martial Saint made his exit. The success of their plan now largely relied on whether he would cooperate
On the other hand, Quintus was still following the Zelinsky siblings.
Hattie didn’t press Magnus inside the car about the deal he made with their father. Rather, she worried about where Quintus and Claudette would sleep in Zovince, even suggesting they could stay at her place.
Quintus grinned. “Haha, I don’t need that! I’m now a general in the Wolf Warrior Unit and the Holy Guardian. Wherever Mackenzie goes, I go!”
Magnus and Blake shared a look, both feeling a little proud when Quintus spoke like this–he was practically shining with flattery.
“Alright then, but go ask Claudette. We’re always happy to welcome her,” Hattie stated, not pushing the

Quintus chuckled. “Hehe, sure! I’ll just ask her out of politeness, though. She definitely won’t be living with Magnus!”
Magnus winced, feeling as if his heart had been stabbed again, even more painfully than when he’d stabbed himself earlier.
“Goodbye then!” Quintus waved.
Hattie didn’t say much. They still had a lot to do.
Quintus hurried to find Mackenzie but ran into Claudette and Laura, who had been waiting for him.
“Quintus, did you find out anything about Dad?” Laura asked, anxious.
“Kind of…” Quintus nodded, then shook his head. “Actually, no.”
“So, did you discover anything or not?” Laura asked, frustrated.
He replied, “Ezra just mentioned that Dad is alive and ready to return. That’s all.”
“Ready to return?” Just then, Emmanuel’s voice rang out from behind.
He and Mackenzie had just stepped out and overheard the conversation, sensing things might be going south.
Mackenzie, always perceptive, remarked, “If he’s being truthful, perhaps your dad is entangled in something related to the presidential election!”
