The small village lay nestled between two mountain slopes, with only two accessible routes leading in and out. Encircling it would be straightforward.

He was certain the culprits holding Caden had entered the village, likely with a significant number of accomplices.
Inside the village, within a modest house, a young woman in her late twenties cradled a baby while teasing him at the dining table.

The woman, Jeff Besoz, was Ken’s sister–in–law.
Her appearance rivaled Lenore’s, but her youth gave her the advantage of a fuller figure and radiant, collagen–rich skin.

Before Jeff could finish her sentence, two resounding slaps silenced her.
Her cheeks burned with pain as she glared at Tailynn, too intimidated to retaliate.
“Say I’m overrated one more time, and I’ll end you,” Jeff warned coldly.
Her aura was like an endless, blood–stained ice cavern, chilling everyone present to their core.
“Alright…”
Jeff initially thought the woman was just aloof and difficult, but now she realized she was utterly ruthless.
If she’d known, she would never have shared Caden’s whereabouts with these people, let alone worked alongside them.
“Ms. Heller, though her words were rude, she’s not entirely wrong. Ordinary soldiers with firearms pose no threat to you.”
Gautier knew Tailynn’s character. He always appeased her.
Besides relying on Teddy, he also used his brain to make this woman work for him.
“Hmph. Firearms are useless in the mountains. They’re mere toys to someone like me,” Tailynn scoffed, her confidence unshaken.
“Precisely. Firearms are for the common folk, but before you, they’re no more than child’s play.” Gautier continued to flatter. “However, let’s take the child up the mountain now. Once Mackenzie withdraws her troops, this child will have served his purpose.”
“Fine. Carry the child up the mountain yourself. Leave these useless people behind.”
Tailynn stood, brushing off Jeff and the others.

Desperate to save herself, Jeff wasted no time betraying Gautier and Tailynn, hoping Sage’s team would take them down.

Leaving a small team behind to detain Jeff and her group, Sage led a squad up the mountain.
However, as they reached the base of the slope, a woman in black pants, red boots, and a crimson coat appeared before them. She was holding a long black whip.
“Is it you?”
Sage’s instincts sharpened as he raised his weapon.
The woman’s sudden appearance was unnerving–he hadn’t noticed her presence until she revealed herself, a testament to her terrifying skills.
At first, he thought she might be the “Dark Red Shadow” described in Felicity’s report. However, upon closer inspection, her face and build differed.

The figure captured on surveillance was estimated to be a middle–aged woman, while this one was a striking young lady.
Still, Sage hesitated, unsure if the initial analysis was flawed due to the poor quality of the footage.
The woman smiled faintly, her crimson lips curling mischievously. “Are you chasing after a child?”
Sage tensed but had no time to respond as his phone rang–Emmanuel calling for an update.
Just as he reached for it, the woman’s whip lashed out with lightning speed.
