At that moment, a wry smile spread across her face as she resigned herself to her fate. She stood still, awaiting the inevitable, much like a helpless kitten cornered by a ferocious tiger, resigned to the end.
And yet, just as death loomed near, a sound like a dragon’s roar erupted by her ear.

Emmanuel unleashed his Dragon Capture Technique, forcefully pulling Birch away.
Birch’s face twisted in shock. Could such a miraculous skill truly exist?
Ashton was equally stunned. Surrounded by enemies and under relentless assault, Emmanuel still had the strength to save her?
Bolstered by his intervention, even a little kitten like her found the will to struggle. With death staring her down, she twisted her body just in time to avoid Birch’s hammer–like fist.

“Come on! If you’ve got the guts, kill me!” Emmanuel taunted Birch, deliberately provoking him. He feared that if he didn’t draw Birch’s attention, Ashton would remain in grave danger.
The bait worked. Birch felt the weight of countless eyes on him, his face burning with shame.

Emmanuel had already fought a grueling battle, his internal strength and physical strength clearly drained. If Birch, one of the Eight Supreme Grandmasters of Zovince, didn’t rise to this challenge and confront Emmanuel head–on, he would lose all credibility. His proud reputation would be tarnished, his dignity as shattered as broken glass.

While the crowd was still reeling from the outcome of this earth–shattering duel, Chiara slipped a silenced pistol from her coat.
“Emmanuel, I can’t let you live another day!” she hissed through gritted teeth, her determination as cold as steel.
“Mrs. Zelinsky!” The Zelinsky family’s servants turned pale with panic.
They had carefully orchestrated this ambush under strict agreements with Zovince’s authorities. Emmanuel couldn’t die by gunfire; his status demanded that his death be above suspicion. Seated weakly on the ground, Ashton tried to shout a warning, but Chiara, always meticulous and ruthless, silenced her with a sharp kick that knocked her back down.
By the time Emmanuel realized what was happening, Chiara had already fired thiree shots in quick
succession.
What no one expected was the sudden appearance of a slender figure darting in front of Chiara. With arms outstretched, she shielded Emmanuel with her own body.
Three blooms of crimson blossomed on her chest as the bullets struck.
In that instant, Emmanuel’s eyes widened in shock, his heart gripped by an indescribable agony, as if a demon had sunk its claws into his soul. He couldn’t even cry out–it felt like the air had been ripped from his lungs,
Chiara froze, panic flashing across her face. How did this woman from the Tanner family appear out of nowhere? How could this have happened? What am I supposed to do now?
“Xylie! Xylie!”
Emmanuel leaped forward, catching the fragile, wounded woman in one arm as she trumpled.
“Why? Why would you do something so foolish? Why would you use your body to block those bullets for me?” His voice trembled, raw with anguish. “You didn’t have to! You really didn’t have to!”
Xylie’s lips curled into a faint, bittersweet smile, blood seeping from the corner of her mouth. Her gaze was both sorrowful and content, her voice weak but unwavering.
“To you… maybe it wasn’t… wasn’t necessary. But to me… it meant everything.”
Her breath hitched, her words faltering but filled with quiet determination. “You… you saved my life in Yeternia. Back then, I… I didn’t really care if I lived or died. But when I was with you… life felt beautiful again.
“I’m tired of being used by others… tired of being part of the Tanner family… tired of being your enemy… So… let it end like this…”
Her voice grew softer as she spoke, and her eyelids began to droop. A faint smile lingered on her face as she whispered her final words.
“Nathan… I could let him go… But for you… I didn’t want to lose to Miss Ashton…”
With that, her eyes closed, a mixture of sorrow and fulfillment etched onto her face as her breathing slowed.
