Although Mackenzie and the Wolf Warrior Unit had achieved a decisive victory by capturing the members of the Five Poison Sect alive, the town guards realized something shocking after leaving the hotel. They discovered the sect had used poisonous gas to incapacitate a large crowd.
The guards couldn’t help but sigh in relief. If Mackenzie hadn’t anticipated this and invited them to the banquet, they might have fallen for the sect’s trap. Their fate would’ve been uncertain!
Soon, the guards provided Mackenzie with a secluded location, where Quintus tied up the sect leader in a small, dark room on the outskirts of the town.
A bucket of cold water splashed over his head, bringing the arrogant Mauve Protector back to consciousness.
When he saw two stunning women seated before him, his mood didn’t improve in the slightest.
Apart from the two women, there were also four men in the room–Quintus, Rhett, Magnus, and the captain of the town’s guards.
“What’s your rank in the Five Poison Sect?”
Mackenzie, with an icy demeanor, began her interrogation.

“Hah, who do you think you are to question me?”
Mauve Protector sneered defiantly. “I’d advise you, woman, to let me go. If you don’t, the Serpent King will send someone to deal with you. He’ll torment you until you wish you were dead, turning you into a mindless puppet. Hahaha…”

Before he could finish laughing, Quintus slapped him so hard that two teeth flew out.
Blood filled his mouth, and half his face felt like it had vanished.
“Mackenzie, it looks like he hasn’t suffered enough yet. Let’s step outside and give it thirty minutes before we return,” Hattie suggested immediately.
Mackenzie nodded in agreement. She wasn’t skilled in torture and preferred to let others handle it while she took a quick walk to pass the time.
Sure enough, when she returned thirty minutes later, Mauve Protector’s expression had drastically changed.
If his earlier demeanor resembled that of a cocky young man fresh out of school, his current look mirrored a middle–aged man whose edges had been worn down by life.
“Magnus, what exactly did you do to him?” Mackenzie asked curiously.
Magnus smiled faintly. “Back in the medieval era, there were some excellent methods of interrogation I’ve always wanted to try. There are 103 in total, but unfortunately, time was limited. I only managed to test
three before he ended up like this. The remaining hundred will have to wait for another occasion.”

The already battered Mauve Protector wet himself on the spot, and his pants were soaked through.
Before Mackenzie could ask another question, he blurted out, “Ms. Quillen, I’ll tell you everything! Just promise me one thing–give me a quick death after I’m done!”

Mackenzie raised an eyebrow. “You’re not begging for freedom but asking for a swift death instead?”
Mauve Protector weakly smiled and slowly said, “I…I’m a mid–ranking protector under the Serpent King. I know you’re about to ask about the Five Poison Sect. If refuse to talk, you’ll use those hundred methods to torture me. But if I spill everything, the Serpent King will mark me as a traitor, and once he finds out, my fate will be even worse. I’d rather face a quick death now.”
His tone and cadence had entirely changed. It was clear Magnus had anticipated his potential suicide and taken measures to prevent it.
“Fine. Where is the Serpent King’s hideout? And where is the Five Poison Sect’s main base? Point it out for
me.”
Mackenzie gestured for Quintus to spread out a large map they had prepared earlier.
Mauve Protector obediently pointed to the Serpent King’s location, which was consistent with what Libby had previously described.
As expected, the main base of the Five Poison Sect wasn’t far from the Serpent King’s hideout either.
“Are the other four kings‘ strongholds also nearby?” Mackenzie pressed on.
Mauve Protector shook his head. “I… I don’t know!”
Quintus immediately threatened him. “D*mn it! Looks like you haven’t had enough of the torture yet. Still not telling us?”
Mauve Protector panicked and shouted, “No, no, no! I really don’t know! Ever since the Matriarch died over twenty years ago, the Five Poison Sect’s factions have been in complete disarray. I only got promoted to Central Protector a few years ago. How could I have access to the other factions‘ bases?”
That reasoning seemed plausible enough.
Mackenzie held up her hand, signaling Quintus to stop. She continued her questioning. “Who was the Five Poison Sect’s former matriarch? How did she die?”
“Uh, this-”
Mauve Protector hesitated again.
“Speak!”
Quintus, without waiting, punched him squarely in the gut.
His face twisted in pain as he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Luckily, Rheft reacted quickly, using his cloak to shield Mackenzie from the blood spray. Otherwise, she would’ve been hit full in the face,

“Stand aside! Don’t touch him unless I say so. What if you kill him by accident?”
As expected, Mackenzie scolded him.

Mackenzie and the others were visibly shocked.
She exchanged a glance with Hattie, but Hattie’s expression showed she was just as clueless.
“I’ve seen some notes my mother left behind regarding this,” Magnus said. “I have a vague idea.”
He suddenly furrowed his brows, as though deep in thought, trying to piece things together.
Mackenzie was about to press for details, but Magnus smiled faintly and added, “However, the Matriarch’s identity isn’t the key issue right now. Once we storm the Serpent Altar and capture the Serpent King alive, we can interrogate him directly, can’t we?”
Hearing this, Mackenzie decided not to dwell further on the Matriarch’s identity. Instead, she turned the topic back to the main concern. “Magnus, now that we’ve confirmed the location of the Serpent Altar, what’s your plan?”
Magnus smirked. “In modern warfare, knowing the enemy’s hideout makes it easy to wipe them out. Just contact Emmanuel, have him arrange for large–scale weaponry, and bomb the place to smithereens. Our goal is to eliminate the Five Poison Sect, isn’t it?”
“Haha! Straightforward and effective! Now, that’s a solid plan!”
For the first time, Quintus praised Magnus for coming up with a good idea. As a commander of the Wolf Warrior Unit, tasked with annihilating the Five Poison Sect, he had yet to use the unit’s heavy artillery.
Being one of Chanaea’s elite forces, they had advanced weaponry that was worth looking forward to.
“Alright! I’ll contact Emmanuel and brief him thoroughly.”
Mackenzie agreed it was the simplest and most direct solution. Previously, they had struggled due to the tack of intel on the enemy’s hideout. Now that they had pinpointed it, the focus was on efficiently solving the problem.
