“Haha, that’s true!” Emmanuel laughed heartily, fully admitting he wasn’t cut
out for handling business affairs. Once again, he realized that Magnus was
truly a genius. What he thought would take ten billion to fix, Magnus solved
with three billion. That was the difference between an amateur and a
professional.
“I’ll recommend you some business talents, but remember, you can never
fully grasp a man’s heart. Just because I suggest them doesn’t mean you

Alright, I’ll give them a shot if you suggest them,” Emmanuel said, though his
eyes couldn’t help but shift toward Magnus. If only Magnus were truly on his
side, that would be ideal. But letting go of his doubts and fully trusting him?
That wasn’t going to happen.
While they were talking, Sage quickly returned and whispered in Emmanuel’s
ear, “Gautier has been captured!”
“Captured?!” Emmanuel was surprised. Had Gautier really slipped up this
time? Or had Emmanuel been overestimating him all along?
Magnus adjusted his glasses but said nothing. Though he couldn’t hear what
Sage had whispered, he had a pretty good idea of what was going on.

“Ms. Quillen, our mission was quite a success! Those bandits and thugs
scattered in fear of us!” Ken suddenly came up to chat after the convoy had
stopped.
Mackenzie gave a dismissive smile. “We didn’t catch many bandits, and they
all just ran away. Once the coalition disbands, they’ll come back. It’ll be like
we did all this for nothing.”
Though Emmanuel always reminded her to prioritize safety, Mackenzie had
never been one for show. She didn’t have time to lead a massive force just to

you plan to head to Zovince for it?” Ken asked, finally revealing the real
reason he had approached Mackenzie.
“Why are you so concerned about whether I’ll attend, Mr. Willy? I can always
send a representative to the meeting,” Mackenzie Quillen asked, raising an
eyebrow.
Ken laughed immediately. “I’m just worried that if you go to Zovince, our
coalition will be left leaderless!”

Mackenzie smiled, her icy eyes scanning Ken as she tried to gauge his true
intentions. Could he be worried that she might shift the battlefield and bring
Emmanuel over to the West End to deal with the bandits? But as far as she
new, Ken didn’t have any real ties to the Five Poison Sect, so why would he
be thinking from their perspective?
Just then, a commotion stirred around them. Mackenzie stepped out of the
car to see what was happening, suspecting that Quintus had led another
raid against the bandits.
Ken followed Mackenzie out, but as soon as her feet touched the ground,
Rhett appeared by her side like a ghost. Ken couldn’t even track how Rhett
had gotten there; one moment, he wasn’t there, and the next, he was
guarding Mackenzie. Ken couldn’t help but mutter to himself, killing Mackenzie
with a bodyguard like him around would be near impossible.

Soon after, Quintus descended the mountain, visibly frustrated. He spat on
the ground in disgust.
“What’s the situation?” Mackenzie called out from a distance.
“Ugh, don’t even ask! Those bandits must’ve gotten wind of our plans. They
packed up and fled long before we got here. The place is abandoned–just
empty hideouts and a few old and sick folks left behind. It’s pointless, really
pointless!” Quintus waved his hand dismissively.
Mackenzie gave a bitter smile. Even though she didn’t want to be involved in
a superficial operation, it seemed these bandits were forcing her into just
that–an empty show of force.
“Ms. Quillen, should we burn their hideouts to the ground?” Ken asked, seeking
permission.

Mackenzie paused to think for a moment, then shook her head. “That won’t
accomplish anything. Without wiping out their core forces, destroying their
hideouts won’t make a difference. Once our coalition disbands, they’ll

“That won’t happen,” Mackenzie replied firmly, though she didn’t bother
explaining further. Instead, she asked Ken to return to his vehicle while she
gathered her most trusted aides for a private meeting.

enemy is trying to lure us into a larger confrontation,” Rhett finally spoke up
once they were alone. “They know they can’t let us defeat them piece by

they have.”
Quintus agreed enthusiastically. “Exactly! D*mn it, Mr. Willy and those guys
don’t know a thing about strategy. If you want to wipe out bandits, you need
to gather forces in secret or catch them off guard. Instead, they’re
announcing the whole thing with rallies and speeches! Of course, the bandits
ran off before we even got close!”
Mackenzie, though inexperienced in military matters, knew this was a
learning experience for her. Hearing their analysis, she couldn’t help but
