Chapter 9
Chapter 9
As soon as I returned to the office, Anna Green approached me directly.
“Ms. White, I couldn’t get through to your phone. There are some documents that need your review.”
I didn’t take the documents, frowning as I didn’t quite understand her actions, Was she asking me to review documents in the hallway?
“Just take them to the office,” I said..
I tried to walk past her, but Anna Green stepped forward, her body blocking me.
ouldn’t avoid it and bumped into Anna Green, staggering back half a step to steady myself. She cried out and fell to the ground.
“Lily White, what are you doing?” Daniel Brown rushed over, pushing me aside with his shoulder.
My stomach hit the corner of the desk, and the pain made me unable to straighten my back. Daniel Brown didn’t notice, as he was busy bending down to help Anna Green up.
Anna Green glanced at me cautiously. Her smile was forced, like a newcomer who had been bullied but dared not speak up.
“It’s not Ms. White’s fault. It was my mistake,” she said.
The eyes of everyone in the office turned to me again. I struggled to straighten my body, the pain making cold sweat break out.
“We should talk in the office…”
I endured the pain, trying not to discuss personal matters in front of everyone, but Daniel Brown seemed unable to hold back. He interrupted me, accusing me.
“Iy
you keep throwing tantrums, not answering your phone, and targeting her for no reason, I didn’t expect you to be so irrational.”
I stiffened, staring at him.
I didn’t understand. I hadn’t said a word, so why did he assume I was the one at fault?
“I thought you wouldn’t be like your mother, but you’ve really disappointed me,” Daniel Brown said, not releasing Anna Green’s hand, standing beside her, and judgmentally accusing me.
But Daniel Brown, do you know? The person who is more disappointed is actually me.
