Chapter 6
Anna Green handed me the revised document again. After confirming there were no errors. I realized the office was empty.
I stepped out of the elevator and saw a familiar car parked outside the company–Daniel Brown’s car.
Is he waiting for me to finish work?
I unconsciously quickened my pace, a slight smile appearing on my lips.
Then I saw Anna Green open the car door, get in, and the car quickly drove of
as left standing in the shadow, awkwardly watching the empty company entrance.
A sharp pain came from my abdomen, and I crouched down, holding my stomach in discomfort.
With the help of the security guard, I made my way to the hospital
“Pregnant?” I looked at the doctor, feeling a little lost
“Yes, but a detailed check–up will have to wait until tomorrow,” the doctor said, glancing around at the empty room. “Do you have any family with you? The nurse station has a phone if you need to call someone to pick you up.”
I opened my mouth a few times but didn’t know what to say.
For a moment. I didn’t know who to call. My parents were divorced, and Daniel Brown…
I remembered the scene of Anna Green getting into the car.
I took a deep breath and forced a smile.
“Thank you, Doctor.”
I sat in the hospital chair with the emergency report in hand, lightly caressing my abdomen.
The phin was gone, but the uncomfortable feeling still lingered
After thinking for a while, I picked up my phone and called Daniel Brown, but the call didn’t go through.
[lowered my head, feeling a little teary, but then I saw Anna Green’s post on social media.
[“After all these years, you still remember how to cheer me up.”
The picture was of a man’s back on the beach, under a sky full of stars–it was incredibly romantic.
If that man’s back wasn’t Daniel Brown’s, I would sincerely envy
y envy and wish them well.
