I frowned and returned the document for revisions.
“None of the issues I mentioned have been fixed, and you’re wasting time on unnecessary things. Do you even understand what I said?”
Anna Green lowered her head and said nothing.
“Lily, are you staying late today? The door opened, and Daniel Brown walked in.
I looked at the time and realized it was already evening. I’d been delaying because of Anna Green’s mistakes.

Anna Green’s eyes instantly reddened. She took a deep breath and said stiffly. “Okay, Ms. White.”
Daniel Brown’s gaze nervously shifted between me and her. As Anna Green walked past him, he raised his hand, as if to stop her, but he let her go.
“Lily, don’t be too strict with her. You need to give her time to adjust.”
I stared at him in disbelief. “What do you mean, I haven’t given her enough time? If I hadn’t given her time. I’d have fired her already.”
“She’s capable. You can’t just fire her because of jealousy, that wouldn’t be fair,” Daniel Brown frowned, clearly unhappy, trying to suggest, “It’s already late. Why don’t you help her out? Everyone can go home earlier.”
“This is her job, I’m not running a charity. I don’t need an assistant who I have to help clean up after. 1 frowned, thinking it was ridiculous.
“Daniel Brown, you can’t ask me to compromise just because she’s your classmate. This is work. I can help her today, but what about the future? Should I help her every time?”
The atmosphere became tense, and Daniel Brown fell silent. I softened my
tone
“Go home first, I’ll finish this and head back, don’t worry.”
