After the alumni meeting, I directly asked Daniel Brown if Arma Green was his ex girlfriend, and he admitted it right away.
“I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to overthink. Lily, think about it–if there was anything between me and her, would I have arranged for her to work by your side? Wouldn’t it be a little too foolish of me? Shouldn’t I have just kept her hidden?”
Daniel Brown’s expression was sincere, as if I was the one being unreasonable
“But it still doesn’t sit right with me. Can’t I just fire her?”
Lily, her family is really going through some difficulties. Her father is ill. There’s no need

Daniel Brown came over and kissed my forehead.
“Don’t act like your mom, okay? Be more magnanimous.”
I was instantly speechless.
My mom is a hysterical person who often accuses my

dad of cheating over trivial things. My dad and I were both driven crazy by her.
1 looked at myself in the mirror. Do 1 really resemble my mom? Am I just overthinking things?
Back in the office, Anna Green’s work attitude was serious, and her approach to me remained strictly businesslike.
“I heard Arina Green’s father has diabetes and is in the hospital,” one of my subordinates looked at me curiously, since I rarely inquire about personal matters. “Ms. White, is there something wrong?
I shook my head and sent her out.
Daniel Brown is someone who doesn’t sweat the small stuff. He doesn’t get bogged down by many things, nor does he dwell on them.
It’s this attitude of his that allowed me to relax, to take a breath away from my paranoid mom and the strict expectations of my dad.
But now, his indifference left me unsure of what to do.
Is my problem?
