Chapter 6
Ben White stormed off, clearly unable to accept what had just transpired.
Yuna, seeing this, walked away with a smug look, thinking she’d won
Before the ceremony, Pirro approached my parents with a thoughtful smile. “I know this wedding was rushed, but I’ll make it up to Mandy by hosting a grander ceremony later.”
My parents nodded in approval, and my mother whispered to me.
“This young man is quite good, Mandy. We haven’t seen you bring anyone home in a long time. How come you kept him a secret?”
Apang of pain struck my heart, and my thoughts drifted back to the past eight years.
At that time, I had asked countless times to bring Beno hack home to meet my parents, but he always came up with excuses to avoid it.
I once thought it was because of his work, or maybe he wasn’t ready.
Only later did I realize he had never considered me part of his real family and had never planned to spend his life with me.
Paro seemed to notice my silence and gently said, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith, it’s my fault. I’ve always felt I wasn’t good enough for Mandy, so 1 hesitated for so long.”
The ceremony began, and we walked up to the stage. When Pirro leaned in to kiss the bride, he gently brushed his lips against mine but deliberately missed slightly.
I looked up, puzzled. He whispered softly in my ear. “I’ll give you time to fully accept me.”
For a moment, I froze, staring into his tender, determined eyes. Suddenly. I felt an unprecedented sense of peace.
He smiled faintly, bus confidence clear, “I’m sure of this.”
After the ceremony, Pirro held my hand and softly asked, “Mandy, you don’t regret this, do you?”
Hooked up and answered firmly, “I don’t regret it.”
He smiled, tightening his grip on my hand. Then we’ll go get our marriage certificate next week.”
Thesitated, quietly asking, “Pirro, I turned you down before. Now, suddenly deciding to be together.. don’t you feel unhappy about it?
He gazed at me with gentle, unwavering affection.
For all these years, I’ve only been waiting. No matter what choice you made back then, or whether you have doubts now, as long as you give me a chance, I’ll spend the rest of my life protecting you”
That evening. Pirro, ever the gentleman, arranged separate rooms for us to rest
Unable to sleep. I picked up my phone and started scrolling. Suddenly, a friend sent me a link.
I clicked on it and save that Beno had just proposed to Yuna–an extravagant scene with drones flying overhead, a vast sea of flowers, and lights
perfectly arranged.
In the video, Beno was on one knee, holding out a ring to Yuna, his eyes filled with deep affection. Yuna, teary–eyed, seemed overwhelmed by happiness.
TUA batter laugh escaped me as I watched.
When he proposed to me, it was nothing like this–no flowers, no ring, not even a mention of it again, as though it was a trivial matter.
Indeed, love and indifference could not be more evident.
Immediately, my friend messaged me, asking, “Mandy, what’s going on? I heard you and Pirro just got married, but Bero’s already proposing to someone else?”
