The next day, I went to the wedding planning company as planned to make the final confirmations.
But when the appointed time arrived, Hero still hadn’t shown up.
The staff, slightly puzzled, asked, “Should we wait for Mr. White?”
- “No need to wait.”
I smiled faintly, replying,
After all, this wedding was nothing but a one–woman show for me.
then, he finally rushed in

He noticed my gaze and instinctively covered it, awkwardly clearing his throat.

Without thinking, he said, “Choose the most expensive package. We need to have the Australian Inbeter and Antarctic shrimp. Mandy deserves the
best.”
The staff, envious, praised, “Mr. White really spoils you, choosing only the finest.”
But inside, 1 felt a pang of bitterness
“We don’t need the most expensive,” I said quietly.
He gently interrupted, “Don’t worry about the cost. This is nur wedding.”
“No.” I paused, then softly added, “I’m allergic to seafood.”
He froze for a moment, then apologized with a hint of awkwardness. “Sorry, L. I just thought
Ished my head, hiding my emotions. “It’s fine.”
At that moment, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen, his eyes lighting up, and immediately answered.
His tone was so soft, almost desperate. “Yuna? What do you want for hunch? How about Taste Dynasty?”
His voice was laced with urgency, a tenderness that nearly suffocated me.
I lowered my eyes, fighting back the sharp sting in my heart.
Then he paused, speaking with clear concern. “By the way, don’t order their desserts. You’re allergic to mangoes.”
After hanging up, be seemed to realize something, and quietly explained, “Yuna used to come over to my place for meals… so I know these things”
I opened my mouth, but no words came out. I could only swallow the bitterness.
I nodded without saying anything, and he seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
Not long after, Yuna arrived.
With a faint smile on her face, she cheerfully greeted us. “Beno, Mandy, I wanted to surprise you, so I came by to check on things. How about we grab lunch together? You don’t mind, do you?“
She studied at me, but I could clearly see the smugness and provocation in her eyes.
It seemed she knew that this wedding was nothing but a sham, a performance to keep me in line.
Her presence here was simply to witness my humiliation firsthand.
