Chapter 7
Chapter 7
His words hit me like a thunderclap.
My heart skipped, and for a moment, I froze.
Seeing my reaction, Grayson’s face lit up.
He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around me tightly.
“Yes, Vivian, you heard me right. Lillian’s baby… I made sure it’s gone.”
e next second, I shoved him hard.
Caught off guard, he stumbled back and hit the ground.
I stood over him, glaring down, my voice cutting.
“Grayson Whitaker, how did I not realize until now just how cruel you are?”
The kind, gentle boy I thought I knew felt like nothing more than a dream.
His so–called tenderness was just a mask.
Grayson stared up at me, stunned.
“Vivian, isn’t this what you wanted? You told me to do this, didn’t you?”
“I’ve done everything you asked!”
I shot him a disgusted look, my tone dripping with contempt.
“I never said that. Don’t twist my words.”
A wave of nausea swept over me, and I turned to leave, unable to stomach his presence.
Grayson’s face crumbled as he lunged forward, grabbing my wrist with a grip like iron.
His eyes were bloodshot, his voice unhinged.
“I did everything! Everything! Aren’t you happy now?”
“No,” I said coldly. “I think you’re revolting. You make me sick.“
He froze, staring at me like a madman, his voice cracking as he shouted,
“Vivian Harper, look me in the eye and tell me you don’t love me anymore!”
I didn’t flinch, meeting his gaze head–on.
“I don’t love you. Not even a little.”
His face twisted in despair. Suddenly, his hands shot up, gripping my face as he tried to force a kiss.
I struggled, thrashing against him.
“Let go of me, Grayson! Let me go!”
But his strength overpowered mine.
Just when I thought I couldn’t break free, the surgeon who’d been mentoring me appeared. Without a word, he punched Grayson square in the face.
Grayson reeled back, stunned, while the surgeon quickly steadied me, his eyes full of concern.
Love, a Hollow Promise
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice soft as he looked at me, noticing the tears brimming in my eyes.
I shook my head, unable to speak.
Turning to Grayson, the surgeon’s voice rose, furious.
“What the hell is wrong with you? That’s assault, you piece of garbage!”
Grayson blinked, as if waking from a trance.
He stumbled toward me, stammering,
“Vivian, I just… I lost control for a second. I didn’t mean-*
this voice faltered as I glared at him, my eyes blazing with anger.
Realizing what he’d done, tears streamed down his face as he began mumbling apologies.
“I’m sorry I’m so sorry…
He backed away, tripping over his own feet in his haste to fee
I watched silently as he staggered off, his figure growing smaller with each stumbling step.
