Chapter 6
You batch! If it weren’t for you selling your body, my son would have already gotten his surgery! I even asked my relatives to check–there’s been only noe kidney donor at that hospital in two years. You murderer?
*Selling yourself to save your daughter? Did you ever think about your daughter’s reputation? She’ll probably grow up to be just like you–a hitch
-We can let this trend co
fitherwise, how will ordinary people ever afford treatment?*
Ithan was cursed and berated, drenched in verbal abuse, as he hastily tried indefend himself,
What are you
1 talking ab
about? I’ve already explained, I’m not a doctor! Stop causing trouble here! Everyone, leaves or call the police
just an ordinary worker with no ties to the hospital. At most, I look like this director you’re talking about. Now get out, all of your
But he had forgotten the purpose of his visit to this hotel.
Hearing the commotion, the conference organizers entered the room, their faces full of regret as they took in the scene
“Dr. Yates, I think you can skip the rest of this conference. Your hospital won’t need to send anyone to future events either.”
Ethan finally panicked.
“It’s not what you think! I was just discussing tomorrow’s surgery plans with the patient’s family–nothing else! I had just finished showering and caree over. Nothing happened!”
He still didn’t realize that his three minute escapade had been live streamed for the world to see.
He continued treating everyone Hoe fools.
The organizers didn’t spare him a glance and left the room with a cold scoff
Than no longer cared about the mess in the room. He halted for the door, pulling out his phone to contact his hospital superiors and explain.
But the patients‘ families weren’t about to let him go so easily.
As Jack dragged Claire and her daughter out, the other families rushed forward to pummel Ethan.
Baseball bats thudded against his body with satisfying force.
Bright red paint was poured over his head.
Ethan hadn’t expected the bystanders to join in so suddenly
A tooth few out of his mouth as he turned beet red with fury.
“What are you doing? Are you crazy? Do you know who my wife is? One word from me, and you’ll all be unemployed!”
“Do you believe I won’t call the police? Stop right now!”
The families hesitated for a moment.
You bastard! Married and still cheating? You animal!”
“Scum in a suit!” “A beast in human skin!” echoed through the room.
Then they resumed their beating, hitting him even harder.
Meathwhile, viewers in the live stream weren’t idle. They showered the stream with gifts and demanded more panches in the comments.
I took a moment to glance at the hospital’s official website from another phone
The comments section had completely imploded.

Love, a Hollow Promise
Chapter 6
Satisfied, I called my secretary.
“It’s time. File the lawsuit and demand the hospital repay all my investments from these years. Arrange my daughter’s transfer and surgery immediately.”
The hotel was already surrounded by reporters who had rushed to the scene.
On screen, Ethan was being beaten to a pulp, barely hanging on.
But he still had the audacity to threaten:
“My wife won’t let you get away with this. Just you wait! Even if the hospital goes bankrupt, they wouldn’t dare fire me. You ants think you can drag me down? Dreamon!”
* awhile, Jack had taken advantage of the chaos to escort Claire and her daughter out.
As they left the room, Jack and I exchanged a glance. He gave me a grateful nod
Clare, however, froze when she saw me sitting calmly outside the door.
The last glimmer of hope in her eyes extinguished.
She knew that without me, than was nothing
And he certainly wouldn’t be able to save her daughter.
But I wanted far more than this.
1 had already obtained a record of all the expenses Ethan had covered for Claire’s daughter during her hospital stay.
When we divorced, he would have to repay every penny.
And every dime I had spent on him during our marriage–1 would make sure he paid it all back.
As my secretary handled my daughter’s transfer, she called me, exasperated
My daughter was crying inconsolably.
