Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Soon after he left, Emily arrived at the limise again. I was exhausted, untally drained from dealing with both of them.
She lay down beside me on the bed.
“Men, they’re thick skinned. It’s normal.”
But hitting him was a bit much”
I closed my eyes and held back my tears, asking Emily: “We’ll be friends for life, right?“)
course! Even if you stop loving Isane, you’ll always be my best friend.”
“Look, we’ve been together since we were kids, wearing the same clothes and buying the same stuff”
“We’re like twins, right?”
“And if it weren’t for you. Isaac wouldn’t have let me work at his company.”
“My family’s not rich, but thanks to you, I’ve been living like a princess.”
“Your mom gives me such generous red envelopes every year for her birthday.”
“It’s also thanks to that money that I could afford my mom’s hospital hills. ”
*Our friendship won’t be affected by any man. If you don’t love him. I hate him even more.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. I had no idea she still remembered that.
Ever since I lost my voice, my mom had been excessively generous to my friends, hoping they would take care of me.
I opened my eyes and looked at her, gesturing: “You wouldn’t hetray me, right?”
She ackwardly hid her nervousness and answered loudly. “Of course not! Why would 1 betray you?”
But you already have.
I pretended to fall asleep, and Emily quietly got out of bed and went to the living room.
She couldn’t help but call Isaac. “I’ve calmed her down. Where are you? I’ll come find you.”
“I’m so hurt today, she’s just too sensitive. It’s driving me crazy.”
“You need to make it up to me. Don’t come back tonight to comfort her.”
I couldn’t hear what Isaac said, but Emily replied in a sweet voice, “Okay.”
Without a glance back the left the house.
The next morning, when I woke up, the smell of food filled the air.
I was lifted from the bed and carried to the bathroom.
*Still asleep, little lazy eat,” Isaac’s voice slipped into my ears, pulling me out of my slumber.
Without hesitation, I pushed him away. He looked at me with hurt eyes.
He Inkwered his head, leaning in with a pitiful look. “You hit me last night and you’re still mad?”
I stared at him, not knowing why he could says such things without batting an eye
I forced myself to be patient, gesturing to ask him, “Where did you go last night?”

He answered without hesitation. “You didn’t want to see me, in I had no choder but to sleep on the office sofa,
“My back hurts. The sofa is so hard.”
I’m sure he had already prepared his excuse. After he finished, he pretended to rub his back in pain.
Normally, I would have felt sorry for him and forgiven him.
But now, I realized every night he spent alone in the office, he had been dreaming of Emily.
I didn’t speak. I jumped out of the bathroom and began brushing ing teeth without caring whether he had slept well ne not.
He was probably hurt by my cold attitude. He spent the whole morning quietly following for around
↓ didn’t want to see him, so 1 kicked him out to go to work.
He refused to leave. I never knew he could be so clingy
His phone kept ringing, and messages kept popping up. I was getting impatient.
“Isaac, go do your stuff You’re bothering me.”
When he saw that I wasn’t calming down, he shut off his phone and started offering me tea and water.
In the afternoon. Emily came to visit again.
“You two haven’t been replying to my messages! Emily walked up and grabbed Isaac’s phone.
“So you’ve been shutting your phone off
Seeing me eyeing her, she calmed herself down and changed her approach.
“You shut off your phone? How am I supposed to contact Summer?”
She walked over and pulled me up. “Come on, my lady, don’t be upset”
“We still need to pick the wedding venue stuff today!”“”
The two of them dragged me out the door. They walked side by side, their pace quickening as they closed the distance between us
Emily picked up her phone and happily started sharing with Isaac
“The flowers should be camellias.”
But I preferred camellias.
“We’ll use pink and red for the decorations.”
But I liked blue and white.
“Which wedding candy should we pick?”
Bat I liked something else.
I walked behind them, smiling bitterly.
They must have had their suspicions all along. I had been too naive to believe in his promises.
The wedding I had looked forward to was no longer about me.
They hoticed I had fallen behind and suddenly stopped, pretending to be upset
“It’s not like you’re the one getting married, Why are you meddling? Isaac said
Emily was hurt by his words, and she punched him in the arm.

She came back and leaned on my shoulder. “Summer, you won’t mind if I help you with the wedding, rigla?–
| Loughed bitterly, silently agreeing
I would just go along with them and not think about it anymore,
